MANHATTAN, Kan. (KWCH) – Jeff Mittie landed another former top-ranked recruit by way of Louisville transfer guard Izela Arenas on Saturday.
Arenas joined the Cardinals as a top-100 recruit and averaged 11.8 minutes per game as a freshman. She comes to Kansas State with three years of eligibility remaining.
The 5-foot-9 guard averaged 4.2 points and just shy of 1 assist per game. She was ESPN’s No. 88 prospect and a four-star of Sierra Canyon in California. She shot 41.8% from the field and 38.5% from 3.
She is the second Louisville player to come to Kansas State in recent years, as Zyanna Walker left the Cardinals to join the Wildcats after the 2022-23 season. Walker since entered the transfer portal after K-State’s Sweet 16 run.
If the last name sounds like it has a basketball connection, it’s because Arenas is the daughter of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas.
Arenas joins a portal class that includes Stanford’s Tess Heal and a decorated freshman class led by five-star Jordan Speiser.
