Well, the score tells the story here. Blackwood was excellent.

  1. Being at the game, it felt like Dallas could steal the game after they killed the 5-3 given Colorado just wasn’t converting on early opportunities, but at no point did it ever feel like Dallas was the better team. Colorado was in such firm control and playing with great intensity and purpose, it was really cool to watch.

  2. I want the Stars to win. I love the green row lights, but Dallas is passed out. I’ve been waiting for them to wake up for a long time. I’ve never seen the hype about their coach either. Idk what he is thinking saying it’s not a must win. Speaks to the DEPTHS of sleep Dallas is in..

  3. Im gonna make an assumption that you’re a right handed guy… writing that much without smudging the white board? I’m a leftie, that would be impossible for me to do 🤣

  4. I didn’t keep up much this season so bear with me, but I felt the Avs had a lot of really good opportunities where they weren’t capitalizing, and idk how sustainable throwing away shots like that is

  5. Shows what it takes to beat a top team(Dallas) that will usually outskate its opponent: wild bounces and uncharacteristic goaltending. Dallas got to see 2 of these in a row, going back to the 35 to 10 SOG loss in Edmonton

  6. Cats fan here. The Avs look freaking lethal…. Outstanding defense and creative offense. Imagine if Makar starts hitting the net…. Absolutely lethal.

    Blackwood looks outstanding as well.

  7. There might be some form of Dallas' March profile showing up in this series, but given what I watched last night, and then waited to hear Shannon's take on the Stars, I agree with his response in this video of, "You need to go out and show you're not the team that lost seven in a row … and you're not – you've now lost eight in a row" as being the true calling card of the Stars for this playoff series. How the Stars ended April in the regular season has become their m.o., and it showed in game one last night.

Sure, the regular season is in the rearview mirror, and everyone is at 0-0 come SCPO time… nonetheless, a seven game losing streak and basically limping to the finish line isn't a stat line any team wants to go with, and untimely injuries too, into a first round SCPO against the Avs. As much as it looked good in the presser after the game, I don't believe a word of what DeBoer is selling.

The Stars will win a game, maybe two, but winning this series is going to take a monumental effort that I can't find in the Stars. Again, I go by what I see, and given what the eyeball test has shown so far with the Stars, the end of their last seven games of the regular season and last night's effort in game one of the SCPO's, there will be effort but not of the monumental type.

It goes back to what I have always said about professional sports, your can't win against the best with plow ponies in the line up. True, you need that type of plow pony player to win; but, as a compliment to the thoroughbreds that Dallas is missing. As an Avs fan, all I know is that the team took a game in Dallas. I'll wait until Monday night to see again if Dallas is "unlucky", "played better than the final score showed", or are just deadman walking.
