I give Lou a lot of credit for what he did to solidify the 2018-2022 team, which was legitimately great and came a goal against Tampa away from winning the Stanley Cup, but the team has been on a downward spiral ever since and Lou clearly does not have a vision for bringing this team back to relevance. This was long overdue, and I’m hopeful that new management will have the stomach to make the hard decisions needed to reshape this team. This will not be a quick re-tool, massive changes are ahead.
That was unexpected, it was time. I’ll appreciate Lou making the islanders a respectable franchise after years of being a joke. He wasn’t getting it done and hopefully the next gm will be able to clean ups some of his mess
TIME TO THROW OUT YOUR RAZORS BOYS
Had to be done
Proof of life from Malkin. Oh my god, this is a great day for the Islanders.
Two things can be true: Lou came to us at the right time and did a lot of good, while overstaying his welcome by about a year or two.
Thanks Lou.
Good now you can all celebrate for 6 months before dooming again when we’re still mediocre next year.
(I’m happy he is gone too just love to shit on doomers 😂)
Had to be done. I’m not so down on Lou’s tenure overall but the last few years have been horribly mismanaged
PLAN THE PARADE
I agree, its time to move on. Lets be excited! Lets also thank the man for helping us to be relevant again. 2 ECF runs in 2 years where we arguably could of should of won atleast 1 cup (maybe 2).
Im happy but also thankful for the time we had!

Can’t believe they really did it. I thought I’d be overjoyed, and I believe it needed to happen, but it’s also kinda sad. The Lou-Trotz era was incredible and now we’re officially moving on from it (again obviously we are far from those teams but now it’s official).
For all his bad I’m grateful for Lou at the end of the day. The key now is who is replacing him?
This is definitely the right move, but damn, people have talked about him as if he took over the Gretzky era Oilers and turned them into the current day Sabres. There was a lot more good than bad while he was here which is the first time you could say that about this franchise in like 30 years. And personally, I don’t think we’re completely fucked in the short term like people act like either. We have good players on mostly movable contracts and a good amount of cap space coming up. Overall, his tenure was a success, but I’m sure all the reaction to this will be memes.

we need the Bridgeport announcement next saying Chris is also relieved of his duties. Please God.
I remember the Leafs fans being ecstatic he was gone, too…
I wouldn’t celebrate him not coming back until you find out who’s going to replace him… we see now the massive clown Kyle Dubas is… Tom Fitzgerald is submarining the Devils… Chris Drury is scorched earthing the Rangers… Tulsky made a massive error this year and didn’t do his homework on the Rantanen deal
Hopefully the Islanders get someone as classy and competent as Lou… Lou couldn’t acquire new talent that well… that was always his weakness (as well as keeping star players)… but GMs come now with an all new set of weaknesses, particularly one that sticks out is the inability to know what a competitive team looks like….
I wonder if they expand Roy’s role, or they get a guy that works really well with Roy… that, to me, would probably be ideal, given Roy’s track record with the Remparts and his winning pedigree…
Uh oh, is Varlamov going to unexpectedly retire and become our new GM?
#LOU IS AWAKE
I can’t wait to find out who to say the islanders have to get rid of next.
Somewhere Nick Leddy’s beard just grew 3 sizes that day…
As a Devils fan I come here to congratulate you guys. Lou has no business managing a team anymore and should have retired years ago.
WE’RE FREE
When he came in, the team was the laughing stock of the league, and he brought back professionalism and accountability. But it’s time to move on.
Thank fuck. Finally.

I would like to thank Lou for his time, we were for a short time made one of the most relevant teams in the NHL despite having little to no talent – he was able to give us some savy trades such as that for JGP, Romy, and Palmieri, he also made some pretty bad deals but overall I was happy with what we were able to accomplish under his command. He has however left us a pretty mediocre situation – that can be easily fixed in my opinion.
Big picture, his era was a massive win. The franchise improved its standing in the NHL after the Tavares fiasco. Need to keep the long term momentum going with the next hire.
