First the Oblivion remaster is announced and released all at once and now this wonderful news. By the Nines it’s a good day.

Thank you for what you’ve done Lou. Hope you have a good retirement. I hope his son leaves too tho. He’s just not like his father

FUCK LOU. I want you to get the word out there we back up!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Thanks for bringing respectability back to the organization but it was time.
Definitely time to move on, but for all the wacky stuff he still brought a ton of stability to the franchise at a time where we were on the verge of a tailspin. Thanks for the memories.

Finally ready to move on and start over. Lou had his run with Trotz, but his run should have ended when the Trotz era did as well. Maybe give him the next year, but it has been obvious for a while that it’s over.
Say what you will and I am glad he is no longer returning. But he has been the best GM the Islanders have had not named Bill Torrey. We should all be grateful of the memories we had with those 21 and 22 teams and he was a big reason for that. But his race is run and I’m glad we’re moving into the new age
I pray to god we get this hiring right… we have a great under 30 core to continue to build around and it would kill me to see their time with this franchise wasted. There’s a lot more room for the leadership and direction of the team to get worse than popular opinion would suggest. Please get it right!!!
I also hope the fan base’s opinion will come back around on Lou as time goes on. He’s the 2nd best GM in franchise history and frankly it’s not really close. The highest highs we’ve experienced in the past ~40 years were under his leadership.
Anyways… let’s see what the hell happens from here.
Matt Martin for GM!
Respect to Lou for putting this franchise back on the map
I know it’s not the main thing right now, but I can’t believe they let him not trade Kyle Palmieri.
Does this mean Marc Gatcomb can wear #99 next year
Maybe that newsday article ruffled ownerships feathers after all….hallelujah
No doubt Lou has had a stellar career. Looked to be a good fit for a couple years making a couple deep runs. But age caught up with him and the team completely fell off the rails after those 2019/20 and 202/21 runs.
I’ve always felt very conflicted about Lou and I will miss the advantages that he brought to the team and hope any replacement can make up for those. What I’ll say is this – I hope he was let go for the right reasons and that Malkin takes the replacement search seriously. I would hate for Lou to be let go just because of a “DO SOMETHING!!!” mentality and scapegoating from the fanbase and pressure from the Newsday article et al. and we end up in a worse place without him. I do think it was time soon (whether now or next off-season) to move on from him, but I really hope we find a good candidate to take us that next step.
Tomorrow’s nightmare headline: Isles hire CLam as GM and Kowalski as head coach, mass fanbase suicide ensues.
Pretty sure it was my change petition lol
OUR LONG NATIONAL NIGHTMARE IS OVER
In other news backup goaltender Semyon Varlamov u unexpectedly announced his retirement…
I’m glad the organization is moving in a new direction. Can’t deny that Lou came in at a time we thought this team would be dead in the water and helped get things back on track with Trotz, but his time was well past being up now. Thank you Lou, but also please take your son with you.

If they tap Lamoriello Jr it’s over
ARE WE BACK??
Knew it. Botta calling it out convinced me.
Now do all MacLean’s and Chris Lamoriello!
