Don’t be surprised if they pick Starks – Safety at 30
36:00 Why are there so many players that are "a bit undersized" that play for the Bills? They need a draft dudes that dont exactly "fit the culture". They need a dude that just has a freakish trait and might be a little crazy
We have Four safeties on the roster. We have Rapp, Bishop, Hamlin, and Forrest. All of them have starting experience. Forrest started in Washington for several years. He plays more down hill.
I don’t think they are excusing players when they say “ They are young”. I think they are saying that from college to the NFL is a huge challenge, and the players that have less seasons under their belt, even college, need more time. Even their bodies aren’t fully developed sometimes between ages 20 -23. Also, some positions take longer because they are more complex to learn in an NFL system.
@Buffalo Plus, be careful what you say! I just watched your reaction from last years draft. It proves a lot, but mostly that the term Casual fits very well!
Does Dan fetes know that Aaron Donald and Chris Jones and Jalen Carter are DTs that won superbowl for their team?
He’s passionately WRONG
My thoughts on the draft for the bills this year is that bringing in White does give some flexibility in the draft regarding the cornerback position, before they signed him I was of the mindset that the first pick would need to be a corner with maybe some trading up to get the right guy. Now I'm thinking one of the first 3 picks should be a corner (nothing too controversial there).
Second, I think bringing in a defensive tackle to provide depth vs starting potential, who is then lost for the first 3rd of the season does change how we should think of the tackle position. I worry that Jones may no longer be starting quality and the drafted tackle will need to be ready to start maybe as soon as the second or 3rd week.
My third thought – have humility and recognize that your early players may not hit, so in positions of need they should be double dipping. Think of Shakir, and Benford – late round picks, and they are our best WR and CB respectively. I think they should be planning to double dip at CB and DT, and last year they should have double dipped at WR. Sorry for the long rant. Go Bills!
I agree with Dan. If we pick a safety with our first pick he better be the next Ed damn reed
Go BILLS!! 🔵🔴🏈🔥💯
Draft 2 DTs and maybe 2 CBs
Landon Jackson I sense maybe will be the first pick I like him but I want Harmon first
Trade with Minnesota and give up 30 a 4th and a 5th or two fours if needed and get Harmon or Grant but they HAVE be right on whose going to be the best. Bills need a game wreaker at DT. All problems stem from there.
2nd round get CB (Porter)
Other 2nd round best DE preferably the LB that just switched positions
-then speed WR that can play special teams
-then another DT /DE best available
-then another DT /DE best available (but opposite of the one above)
Our early picks almost never are big impacts as rookies and that’s a problem
I like Beane but I have a feeling that he needs to think he is the smartest person in the room. He passes on the obvious picks to reach for players, hoping he gets another josh Allen. Last year he trades down to pass on worthy and Ladd Mckonkey to take Coleman? Sometimes the obvious consensus pick is the right pick. As a Bills fanatic, I am rooting for Coleman but I just don't see him ever being an impact receiver like worthy or Mckonkey
If starks is available, take him!! If burdon is available take him!!
I normally agree with Dan but I don’t on this I believe the most important position is Defensive Tackle! Because those are the guys that help u on 1-3 downs to get to a comfortable 3rd down situation! The problem with this team has been the defensive line has underperformed in the playoffs year after year ! Let’s change that with this draft ! Go Bills ! Love the show!
They need to trade up! Not back especially not back twice! Trade up and more than a couple spots too
HAPPY DRAFT DAYYYYYY
I respectfully disagree. I think the addition of Tre relieves the pressure of a first round pick at CB ala Amos. I think Tre will be the starter and placeholder the whole year if he stays healthy. Probably a second rounder for CB but I will not be surprised if it’s round 3/4. Hopeful for a Tre-assaince 🙏🏻
No great revelation here…cornerback and defensive linemen..the rest of the NFL hopefully went to school on what the Eagles did to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl-harass Mahomes and he will make mistakes like any QB
Shout out to the other Ryan Braun on here asking a question ☝🏻
Every mock I did the issue wasn’t really 30 but being so late in the 2nd. If you get a DT at 30, most of the CBs you want will be gone by 56.
The defense is what they need,in my opinion that they should do is go line a good tackle for the first pick because if they have a great line and can get to the QB don't have time to make more than one read so the back half of the defense be good starters and that is why. Next is a CB 2 for the 2nd pick and the 3th pick a WR or safety and Bills should get some day one straters. Mike
I hunk they need to get a top corner first! They should trade up and get the best they can get
Drafting a safety in the 1st round would be an indictment on Beane and the entire evaluation team. It would symbolize another miss in Bishop, a miss with the Rapp signing, and could be a 4th year in a row of a disappointment of a 1st round pick. (All while teams like the eagles/chiefs/ ravens pick contributing players in the same spots)
27:30 ed is NOT that guy. We want hime to be that guy and we PAID him to be that guy. But Ed Oliver is not a disruptive DT, hes an undersized guy that can make an impact once every few games. Hell thats our entire D line
Thanks!
Chris jones, the 2nd round pick the year we took Ed Oliver 🙄
A DT run stuffer is needed badly please, that should be there first selection if possible
You three are definitely my Dude's when it comes to the Buffalo Bills. Best POD Cast on YouTube.
Grant gone,, Harbaugh takes him obviously, Harmon may be there, move up 2nd round and get CB Porter GO BILLS
This is a fine line. I love the fact that Brandon Beane trusts and empowers his subordinate "team" in building the Draft Board. A good leader HAS to trust and empower his subordinates. That said, the GM is the guy in charge, the "commander" in "military terminology" for want of a different term … and that means that, IF he has done his own homework and has a STRONG feeling/rating of a particular player that differs from the supposed consensus, then in the right circumstance, he MUST ALSO have the courage and fortitude to make his own call. Why? Because, at the end of the day, HE IS the "commander" and THE BUCK STOPS WITH HIM. He was hired as "the" GM "in charge" precisely because of his own prior experience and his own cultivated excellent skills (including player evaluations), and he needs to trust HIMSELF as well — not "only/exclusively" his subirdinates. And "if" a player turns out to be a poor draft selection, it's a weak-sauce NON-STARTER to try to hide behind the lame excuse of "but, but, but it was a group consensus decision." NO — YOU are "the" GM and the bottom line is that it's YOUR responsibility to get it right. So it's fine and dandy to admonish his team that "they better be right" in picking a player other than the one he wants, BUT EQUALLY SO, I'd add that Brandon Beane had "better be right" when he CHOOSES TO ACQUIESCE TO THE SUBORDINATE COLLECTIVE GROUP'S CHOICE/RANKING OVER HIS OWN INDEPENDENT "BETTER JUDGMENT." Fortunately, many times there WILL be agreement, but when there isn't, BB needs to embrace the fact that "the buck stops with him" and he can't punt responsibility to "the committee."
Scheme, Scheme, Scheme!!!
Coaches aren’t putting players in the best positions.
The right dt will help ends get pressure and help coverage… the question is where’s most impact in new player vs existing… we’ve spent resources on edge and corner this offseason Nolen then Porter
He's not gonna go Ealy but beane can't leve this draft without dolack! Idk how you pass up the chance at pairing him up with buffalo joe in the future 🤷 beane may not be here in the future but if that works wich it very may will……..your a legend in buffalo forever 🫡 and your under a little pressure here🤷
Attn Dan. "Will the gentleman(gentlelady) yield?" And "Reclaiming my time".
Jenna D. (decisive) Cottrell
Dan's struggles with the English language is one of the many reasons I love you guys. I'm not gonna be awake when they pick (agree, at 30 for Tre Amos btw) but I'll watch your wrapup tomorrow!
Another great POD .
