With roughly $22 million open in cap space this summer, as well as a cache of picks (17 in the next two drafts), Utah is prepped to bring in some serious talent this summer.

I’m quickly realizing as a life-long Jazz fan and a life-long Utah Hockey Club fan that the free agents for the NHL are not looking for the same things NBA players are, and that’s soooo refreshing. It feels like the stigma that hangs over Utah in the NBA doesn’t (we’ll find out for sure) for the NHL. We have a decent chance to land some huge names. That’s very, very exciting.
Let’s just hope they don’t fuck it up by signing players not worth their prices. Signing Marner, for example, would be a massive swing and a miss for UHC. The team is still a bit too young and inexperienced to give up on the rebuild and start signing high ticket players. A little more development and a singing of some veterans will build a rock solid foundation that would then allow for star level players a chance to thrive here.
