Matthew Tkachuk was assessed for an 5 minute major for interference on Jake Guentzel. After review, the call stood. Guentzel did not appear to be injured on the play and remained in the game.

3. Shoulder to body hit. Guentzel was watching his pass with a guy like Tkachuk on the ice. It was a 5-1 game so probably wasn’t necessary…but it’s the playoffs dude get your head up.

16. I’m not going to complain if it’s a suspension as this is similar to Hagel and I am all for consistency.

    A difference I see is Hagel followed through into Barkov. Tkachuk kind of stopped to create the collision. Tkachuk knew what he was doing and could have injured Guentzel but the Hagel hit had more intent to injure imo.

    DoPS specifically mentioned some head contact in the Barkov hit so I wonder if that will be a difference if they go with a fine.

23. I don’t have a dog in the fight. I’m not a fan of either team. However, that’s a pretty dirty play by Tkachuk, IMHO.

    Not only is that interference, it’s really late interference against a defenseless player. The announcers can say that it looks worse in slow motion, but Guentzel clearly drifts 10 feet away from where he passed it and then he gets hit way up high.

    I don’t think Florida has a leg to stand on in that discussion. I think Tkachuk needs to do better in that spot. I think that’s the type of shit we should get out of hockey. That’s not good for anyone.

25. If I’m being honest, I think it’s a 2 minute interference. Hagel was a 2 minute interference as well, but a 5 minute major could’ve been warranted. I’m all for player safety but this game is going soft.

26. I saw the play live and the replays. I did not think the hit was dirty outside of it being late. So the 5 minutes penalty covers the lateness of the hit – interference. There was no head contact. Guentzel hit his jaw on the ice. If the hit was 1 second earlier there would not have been a penalty. No suspension IMO.

27. Bring on the downvotes. Both Hagel and Tkachuk made dirty hits. Both deserved 5 min majors. Hagel’s hit is more egregious. If you know puck, you know Hagel’s skates left the ice, aimed high and made contact with the head/neck area, and Barkov never made contact with the puck

    Tkachuk hit Guentzel very late, but it was shoulder to chest and his skated didn’t leave the ice. He definitely deserves a fine, but a suspension just doesn’t seem likely when compared to the Hagel hit. Nothing but the facts

30. No head contact. Guentzel fakes holds his chin despite clearly no contact at all to the head. He had the puck when comparing this to the headhunting on barkov last game. It’s a late hit/interferrence. I dont think its suspension worthy and comparing to how barkov didnt touch the puck at any point and was never in possession or prepared for a hit of any kind and its completely different scenario, despite how similar at a glance. Guentzel is caught watching a pass like its a house league game. It’s late. 5 mins is excessive for no head contact, no injury on a guy that had the puck a second before the hit.

31. I hate Tkachuk. He got 5 min major, and out for the rest of game, (only 5 min left), and Guentzel hoped right back up. Imo, it was a dirty hit, because of timing, not because of how the hit itself was made. It was a legal style hit, delivered outside of the allowed time

    I’m ok with maybe a fine, if that, and moving on.

    I’d like a game suspension cause I hate FL, but feel it’d be unfair.
