Road Trip to Tampa | Royals Take Opener vs. Rays

The Royals hit the road, looking to keep things rolling following the 5-1 homestand. Michael Lorenzen turned in a quality start, allowing just 1 run over 6.0 innings and notching 4 strikeouts. The Royals gave Lorenzen an immediate lead, as Salvador Perez scorched another RBI double to open things up in the top of the 1st. Kyle Isbel added on with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 2nd, and Freddy Fermin added some insurance in the 8th inning with an RBI single, his third hit of the game. Bobby Witt Jr. collected a base hit late in the game as well, running his hit streak to an even 20 games. Angel Zerpa, Lucas Erceg, and Carlos Estévez each logged scoreless innings in relief of Lorenzen to lock down a 3-1 win to open the road trip.
