  1. Started as GM, hired himself as coach and GM, then went back to the front office.

Will definitely help him by eliminating the rigors of travel that comes with the HC job

  2. I knew this day would come, but man this still hurts like hell.

  3. I knew it was coming but it still hurts. Love you and thank you for everything Pop

  4. Expected, but damn does this *hurt* seeing it official for the first time. End of a fucking era. At least he’s still gonna be around, that’s all we can ask for 🙏🏼

    GOAT

  5. Bummer he can’t make it back to the bench. Hope his health allows him to live the retirement he deserves

  6. End of maybe the greatest head coach era in NBA history. Hope he’s just able to stay healthy and enjoy his life after all these incidents.

  7. Mike Malone sleeping next to his outfit laid out on his bed like first day of school

  8. We all knew this day would come eventually, but it still feels weird to me; Pop has been coaching the Spurs longer than I’ve been alive.

  9. Pop’s been head coach of the Spurs longer then I’ve been alive. End of an era

  10. So as Team President, is he actually gonna be making calls to make trades/signings? Or does the GM do that, and just run it by him?

  11. If there’s one coach who has earned the right to put his feet up a bit, it’s Pop

  12. He carried on until his health would not allow it anymore. One of the greatest head coaches of all time and one of the best NBA personalities of all time.

    o7

  13. Not replicable and irreplaceable, the career this guy has had is insane

  14. One of the best to ever do it, both by talent and by quality of person. Truly a gem, I’m glad he gets to continue to work with the team.

  15. A legend of the game.

Saddened that he won’t be able to get a proper final game as HC

  16. As a suns fan I hated him, one of the greatest to ever do it and it sucks so much that he didn’t get to go out on his own terms but was cut short.

  17. GOAT. Will miss seeing him on the sidelines but will get a standing ovation for any arena he walks into for the rest of his life.

  18. GOAT head coach, and I wonder if the Spurs go after Giannis if the Bucks decide to trade him 🤔

  19. Sad day for basketball, but I’m happy for him being able to stick around in some capacity.
