Guess the rule just says you have to have one. Not that it needs to do anything
Well since that’s against the rules probably never. It’s just the next best thing around that rule
If they don’t want to wear a visor, this is the closest they can get, because it’s mandatory
It’s illegal for you to ask me that.
Cause you can’t dummy
i dont understand why hockey players wouldnt want to protect their eyes. seems absolutely stupid.
They made visors mandatory. A lot of players don’t want to wear one, so they do stuff like this to get around it as best they can.
I think that would protect him from bird poop?
They can’t take it off
The refs will call him out for that eventually, I remember another player did that for awhile until they were finally called out for it.
Leo Komarov got a penalty a few years back for doing this, surprised he didn’t.
The visor set up that way is actually very dangerous to other players.
The rule stipulates they need to be worn properly…the refs should be making him sit until it’s fixed.
In junior hockey, they dole out ten minute misconducts to players who tilt their visors up even a bit. Needless to say, they only have to call that about once a year before everyone complies. In the NHL, though, dudes have them up enough so they can see underneath them, and there’s no rule against it.
Related, you should see the helmets these guys wear – they are shockingly flimsy. They remove the ear pieces (“too hot”) and have thinned out padding. I saw the helmets at the last Sens equipment sale – it’s kind of comical that they wear top of line gear everywhere except on their heads where they do the bare minimum legally possible…
Visors are mandatory now. There’s like 3 guys grandfathered in that are not required to wear one. This player probably doesn’t want to wear it at all
What a dork
I was thinking the same thing

Yeah, they have to.
What’s just as funny is that they can’t wear a bubble or cage unless they’re hurt.
So they “care enough” about player health to make them wear a visor, but prohibit the player from making their own decision to choose to wear an objectively more protective version of what they mandate they wear.
I think bubbles are lame, don’t get me wrong. It’s just a convoluted rule.
By taking the visor off, I meant letting the players take them off, sorry for making it seem like I was a dummy!
Was your camera also wearing a visor?
As someone who played hockey for a decade, I never understood why players don’t just wear cages. High stick injuries and pucks to the face are so common. I understand the argument people have that it may obstruct your vision, but as someone who has always played with a cage, after a while it’s almost like you can tune it out of your vision, kind of like how unconscious selective attention allows us to tune our nose out of our vision.
When Nino played for the Canes, it seemed like every game that visor drifted justttt a bit higher. Glad to see that’s continued in Winnipeg
The NHL should tell players that do this they can’t play until it’s affixed in it’s proper, intended position. The rule of “players must wear visors” is meaningless if this is how it’s manipulated. He might as well take it off.
This won’t stop from any player until the violators are penalized and fined. I’d also fine the team for allowing it. That’d get the message across fast. For instance, no team is going to skate a player who is costing them $25, 000 a shift or game.
That time Leo komorov got a penalty for wearing it like that🤣
I’m just wearing the visor so I don’t get fined
If the league let him take it off he would. But they mandate players wear visors.
There actually an NHL rule stating the visor must cover the eyes but it’s not enforced.
Carl Hagelin had to retire in 2022 because he took a stick blade to the eye during practice. He wore his visor like this.
These comments from people who weren’t aware that some players are grandfathered in and choose not to wear a visor are really making me feel… like a grandfather 👴
You can’t. It’s a rule. This way you don’t have a visor blocking your vision and you aren’t breaking the rule.
Mandatory visors lick
The league should be cracking down on this. Although I also think they should be making full face shields mandatory.
That is actually illegal in hockey and should result in penalties.

So that’s what Josh Allen does in the off-season
Its like Matthew Tkachuks mouthguard. Just a chew toy.

I believe visors are mandatory.
It’s just flipped up?
