LA Kings lose Game 3 as Jim Hiller’s gamble doesn’t pay off

1. Kings down 2 nothing and took lead, I’m actually optimistic that they will win next 2 games

2. you would think after 3 years, game 1 this year, they would have learned not to play defensive, its a coaching and organizational issue. Better team, Kings sure, unless you take the mental part of this into play now and thats the biggest hurdle to overcome. Also Lewis should never be in the lineup unless multiple injuries occur and 4 lines needs to be rotated included all 6 D men.

3. Oilers fan here, i truely believe the refs got the calls right.
   Kings could've won the game even after losing the challenge.
   I thought, oilers fans chants of "KUemper" where a weak copy of Kings fans "Skinner" chants.
   i am not canadian so i can speak less partisan about these things 😀
   GL in game 4, pretty sure, it will be exciting.

4. It looks like Kane hits the puck with stick to me on a couple different shots and inconclusive on a couple others.

5. That changed this series my gut says Edmonton wins the next three. I think it's over even though we lead 2-1. Watch they tie it up tomorrow and then beat us in L.A and finish us in Edmonton 6 game series..DONE

8. I’m a Kings fan and it was absolutely a goal. He used his stick to hit the puck in the goal. Stop whining we have no one to blame but ourselves.

12. I’ve watched you for the past couple of playoffs because I like to see the other side. I actually respected you and enjoyed watching. This year you seem a lot more bitter. I guess (3) years in a row (so far) will do that. The Kane goal was very clearly off his stick.

13. Yes Kane did kick it but it didn't go in the net it bounce back and few inches and Kane smacked it twice to get it in the net, but i don't get why they did that, but Kopitar pushed Kane into the goaltender

15. Kings played with fire a second time and it burned them. They got away with it in game one and I feel it gave them a false sense of security. Should have kept pressing and sooner or later, Edmonton’s defense would have made a bad play that resulted in the puck being in the back of the net. The kicked in goal is what it is. I never believe the call will go our way which is why I was baffled by the Kings trying to challenge based on very little contact that didn’t prevent Kuemper from playing the puck. Maybe if the puck had gone in by the skate that was contacted, it would be a different story. The risk/reward was too great. Better to have stopped the bleeding at the tie, call a timeout and refocus. Hopefully they have all learned from this and go on to win Games 4 and 5.

16. Why were we just dumping the puck with 12 mins left in the 3rd period with just one goal ahead of the oilers 😅 did we purposely thrown the game!?

17. This Game Shows The Oilers Have The Better Coach And Are More Mentally Tough. They Are The Better Team. They Are Proven That Is Why Oilers Keep Coming Back And Finally Came Through. Also Evander Goal is agood goal. His stick did get tge puck. Its Hiller unwise challenge that did it for us.

18. I disagree. It was pretty obvious on the replay that the initial "kick" shot was saved and the rebound is what pushed it across the line. The problem was that Hiller shows no confidence in his team to score another goal, both in deciding to sit back and trying to trap the Oilers to a one goal victory for nearly the entire 3rd period. Then there was the stupid challenge. If the Kane goal has put the Oilers up by one I might have understood the challenge, but it was still a tie game with only 6+ minutes left. The moment he challenged I KNEW it would result in a penalty and a goal.

20. Its was crystal clear and definitive from one of the overhead cams. He kicked the puck, the puck then hits kuemper in the pants and actually comes backwards a little bit, before Kane hits it in with his stick.

23. Hiller makes some bone head plays and not just the challenge. Lewis should not be on the bench let alone on the ice. Overplaying Doughty and Kopi which kept us on the defensive end when they cant keep up. Kane sitting in the crease and Kopi lets him whack a couple times. Frustrating loss that was preventable.

24. As soon as Hiller lost the coaches challenge and Edmonton then scored…. It reminded me of a pivotal incident…. The “Marty McSorely stick incident”. Everything went to hell after that for the Kings and I am praying this doesn’t happen !

29. You are delusional, there was a clear angle that showed his stick shooting the puck in the net. Plus the angle change of the puck and it’s acceleration clearly shows Kanes stick made contact with the puck. Delusional man.

33. Glad for the majority of kings fans are generally pragmatic about this. It was a goal. Refs got it right when they reviewed their own initial decision. This guy is just wrong. His stick knocked it in. Also There was no interference as Kuemper was simply flailing and Kane was being pushed. That was a hope challenge! Did not work. Still advantage kings, but game on!

35. It’s interesting to see DJ Smith as an assistant coach here. Hadn’t realized that.

    Watched him coach Sens for a few seasons and dubbed him the “Happy Times” coach. Young team and lots of good players coming along. Guys looked like they enjoyed this coach. Only problem was the lack of consistency within a game. Admirable the offensive energies they displayed. But winning games no reliability. And it was after a point remarkable because clearly the players enjoying but I found the giving up leads pretty annoying. Eventually the decision to move on from Coach Smith.

36. Dumbest challenge in history. Biggest mistake by a coach in history. Should be a fireable offense. Hiller is an abject moron. And a coward who took no responsibility for his idiocy. Love to be one of his players hearing this! Let's hear this guy spin this!

39. I agree with all the narratives, yet, I will take 2 games to 1 going into game 4 every time, especially considering it could be 1 to 2 or 0 to 3. We got this! Kings problem's are surmountable! Oils problems are baked in. We are the better team and I believe the Kings will execute their better play and execute the oils this round! GKG!

44. What evidence do you need. The replay shows it clearly hitting his stick after the kick.

45. Players are fine coach is not.
    Games 3 and 4 are 95% on hiller and the other 5% on Byfield and doughty.
    Byfield had an insanely easy opportunity to chip the puck out and doughty made a week backhand effort on the 3rd goal.
