D-backs vs. Phillies Game Highlights (5/4/25) | MLB Highlights | Arizona Diamondbacks
This guy has been anxious to get out there today, Ranger Su-rez and making his first start of the 2025 season career as a starter, 3024 with a 3.52 earned run average overall. He’s won 41 games in his big league career facing the Arizona Diamondbacks. He’s one and three against them with an, er, a of 5.09 and a strike three call right at the knees. A little sinker. This is where Rangers at his strength, that ball is down in the zone. He should get a lot of ground balls from the Diamondbacks offense, but good start for him and a strike three, another sinker back to back K’s on the sinker, another two outs, 1 to 5 so far in this series. So can make this play. It will be one for six and he does, that’s 12 pitches for Ranger, 23 go the D backs here in the first Phillies coming up for the first time when we get that left hander Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound today, one win in six starts and er, a over six E. Rod roughed up by the Mets to start this road trip last week right there. If it works for Suarez, it will work for E ROD. A fastball at that is strike three, 2 to 1 to Harper who is one for eight in this series has four hits on the home stand way. That’s pretty well hit. Turned out Bryce Harper launches his first home run since the 18th of April and the Phillies jump out to a 1 to 0 lead that has been hitting balls hard but not any luck. And this one here is just a line drive. He’s hitting the ball with authority that way. He tough the pitch too. He’s loaded up with righties. So the homer to Harper and he loses the other. Lefty Schwarber popped up foul ground for Naylor first base side. Got some room is out of the first, but Rice Harper hits his sixth home run this season and gives the Phillies a 1 to 0 lead. Ranger right back at it after a 12 pitch first inning, a couple of strikeouts got him came back 9320 MPH more. That’s three strikeouts for Ranger going to miss that’s four strikeouts. Three on the sinker. He went breaking ball, breaking ball changeup reaches out, pops it up shallow center field out is so sad. He’s there to make the catch 28 pitches. So five for two innings for Rangers Suarez six up six down for Ranger Su-rez as he begins the third inning against the bottom, third of the order and it’s a little bit low. That’s ball four. There’s the first baserunner allowed by Rangers Suarez today and Herrera gets the one that backs up. Schwarber still backing up to the wall and it’s off the wall. He just missed a home run. It’s a long single as gets into third. Herrera gave it a ride out there. Diamondbacks with one out and have been on the corners and here’s Geraldo Perdomo to third fair ball down the line. Hansen’s home. Herrera is on the run and Kem’s off the seats and perdomo is into second with an RB I double and we’re tied at 13 consecutive have reached with one out. Look at the D backs bottom of the lineup producing again, it doesn’t matter which cast of characters is down there. They’re getting the job done. The walk to the hit by Hosey RB I double by perdomo Corbin Carroll knocks it into right field. Herrera is home, Sean Larkin waving perdomo Castellanos with a throw and it’s cut off Diamondbacks with a big third here and they lead it 3 to 1 happening so quick. They’re not wasting any time. Got him again. Foul tip hung on to by JT 21 pitch. Third inning, three runs score for the Diamondbacks Harper’s home run his last time up the opposite field. Only the second opposite field home run for the Phillies this season. It’s that one to right and it’s a base hit for Harper. He’s two for two Jones signs liner to left that will be in for a base hit quickly backhands. It goes the throw to third base and allows Casto to go to second base 2nd and 3rd with two outs that this one out lazy fly to right. Gors got it. Strands two Tim to the start at second base. Tim to dumps it into right field. A little bloop single with two outs keeps the inning alive for Garrett Hempen. 3 to 2 pitch and that’s outside ball. Four ranger looks really frustrated at that. So back to back guys reach with two outs and a chance for Hosie. Hosie punches it the other way that’s down the line and it’s in the corner. Here we go to scores. They will waive Hampson jose herrera drives in and it’s 5 to 1. He’s talked about how he’s like his at bat so much more over his last couple times out there and finds himself in a great hitter’s count. Hits that one on the screws even though Castano is playing over towards the line. He still couldn’t catch up to that ball. Three home in the third, two more home in the fourth and a chance here for Perdomo chops it to third. It’s off the glove of B they’re going to wave Hosey all the way around. It rolls up the line and it’s 6 to 1. Alec B kicked that one. Well up the and fouled ground. It would have been a tough play. Who knows if he makes it if he gets it clean to throw all the way across the diamond. But he wouldn’t have given up a run or, and carroll a two run single his last time on the move Utah to second. It gets into center. Jerry has to stay put as Rojas comes in and backs up, go back to the to at bat. He had a chance to get out of the sitting around 62 pitches that look at this Perdomo caught everybody napping. Suarez was paying no attention the left hander on the mound and Jerry just took off and Corbin knocks it into center. This fourth inning continues for the Diamondbacks. It’s 7 to 1. Carroll’s knocked in three. Suarez just pleading for anything to happen out, but unfortunately, I don’t think he’s going to be able to get out of his own fourth inning. Rangers Suarez is all done today. Still responsible for the runner at first. They’ll score that a pass ball on herrera his first run in scoring position, but with two outs, 31 pitch off the hands out toward right center field. It’s not that deep. It’s going to drop in for a base hit RB I for Rojas Sosa scores. It’s a 7 to 2 game. He got absolutely jammed and that bat exploded on him, but you cannot put it in a better spot, Juan Rodriguez faces Bryce Harper to start the Phillies fifth right on the corner, caught looking and E Rod rings him up with a slider. That’s eight strikeouts for Rodriguez slider up and away. He went down with that pitch to Harper, went up with it to Schwarz. He’s got two strikeouts nine for the ball game gets behind Herrera Hose. He’s got it throw to first is in time and Eduardo Rodriguez strikes out the side in the 5th , 10 strikeouts through five for E Rod and he leads it 7 to 2. Eduardo Rodriguez has a season high 12 strikeouts. That was his second start of the year at Washington. So far today, he’s punched out 10 Phillies through five innings down the right field line for ball slicing toward the corner that’s going to be in for a base hit. It goes to the wall and balls on his way to second. Carroll bobbled it for a moment but Then recovered. Here we go. Not that time. Emil Jimenez says no soar one out base runners. Mario is ready in the bullpen. Here comes Tory Loo and a 7 to 2 lead right hander juan Mario trying to keep it that way. Five appearances for Mario who is a fast mover in this bullpen now, 1 to 2 and we Wilson has got to bear down and a high fly ball to left field, forget about it. Three run off the bat of Weston wilson and he has pulled the within 275. What a joke that was, put a charge into that one and put a charge into the fan base and now they lead it 7 to 5 as Kevin Ginkel is on to start the bottom of the seventh inning shas on the fastball away. And here comes Schwarber as the tying run no outs in the seventh sky deep. Left center gurriel calling off Hanson and look how Garrett’s got it. Harper heads up tags and he’s at second 0 to 3. Popped out. Flied out, popped out to right center. That’s going to drop in for a hit. Harper is going to score. It’s a one run game RB I single for Real Muto. Five hits on the home stand ain’t pretty but it’s a beautiful, beautiful piece of hitting by JT. Here goes. Real Muto just got a piece of the slider or did he? It’s a live ball. Herrera can’t get the out and look at Real Muto into third and he’s safe, Geno. It looked like Josh had his foot planted on the bag and Real Muto came in there. Gino seems to be ok. Fortunately they’ll challenge the save call at third. A view. The call is overturned. The runners out. Arizona returns do Tings the crew chief with the announcement but the Phillies get a run and it’s a one run game. Jose Alvarado is he wants to keep this at a one run game to give the Phillies offense one last chance in the bottom of the ninth inning. Smothers. It knocks it down and rolls away. PDO is aboard with his fourth hit today and a one out base runner ground ball to second. You got to hurry with Carroll. There’s one and he couldn’t get the ball out of the glove. Trey couldn’t. So they get the force at second base. See if Randall can do something here. Get the left hander. Corbin’s at first two out in the ninth. There he goes, he got a big jump and knocks it into right center. Corbin stops at second. He’s going to come home as that gets all the way to the warning track for second and he’s got a huge RB I double and you said it insurance runs, they need him. And this bullpen has been known to give him up an RB I double with two outs, an insurance run for Shelby Miller, the right hander out there to try and lock this one down. Schwarber is zero to three, a couple of strikeouts and the fly out fly ball more than a single right center field solo home run. Kyle Schwarber Phillies are back within one. It’s an 8 to 7 game 295 for the career. He pulls that one through the hole on the left side of base hit, second hit of the day for nick tying run is aboard JT is coming up ground ball back toward the middle to center field of base hit Marshes to second, hold up there and the Phillies have the run at second. The winning run at first has doubled and scored a run. He’s also walked and struck out and reached on a wild pitch looper out to center field that’s going to drop for a hit. Here comes Marsh, he’s going to score. We are all tied up at eight. Now they’re, and they into it on the ground to second. Gobbles it up from the outfield grass Diamondbacks get one the ninth Phillies counter with two and we’ll play extras to the 10th. We go at Citizens Bank Park. Geno Suarez made the final out. He’ll be the runner at second as Josh Naylor starts it off. 2 to 1 is punched to short. It’s just by Trey Turner. They’re going to waive Geno Weber comes up throwing play at the plate and real Muto can’t collect it. Naylor is into second and it’s 9 to 8 Diamondbacks. Here’s gurriel at bat by lourdes right there. Work to base on balls. Still no outs in the inning and they’re on the corners for to, with one run already home line to left Schwarber got it. Here comes Naylor. The throw is into second and it’s 10 to 8 Diamondbacks. The RB I for Tim to up there to do a job and does exactly that just trying to get anything to the outfield that’s probably going to be it for Alvarado. He’ll bring carlos Hernandez in to face the left hander and a into right field for a base hit Gurriel into second and a big 10th continues for the Diamondbacks. Look out that got them going to be loaded. Here’s another look for PDO and PDO works the bases loaded. Walk another run comes home and it’s 11 to 8. Geraldo PDO doing Geraldo PDO type things as Jalen Bes comes out to work the home half of the 10th inning, 15 appearances tops on the staff. He worked a scoreless eighth innings in the line drive base. Hit it to left field stock will scamper into third base and there you go. The tying run is coming to the plate after the single by Weston wilson, his second hit of the day that one is out to center field. Thomas is over. He’ll make the catch will score. Fly RB I for Kepler 11 9 line drive left field that’s going to be in for a hit. Wilson will stop at second tying run is a run to the plate. Center field, Alex Thomas drifting back toward the warning track and he’s able to run it down. Everybody stays put where they are, they retire Harper, but now you deal with Schwarber and another left on left matchup for Taylor’s got it foot race to the bag and he wins it and the Diamondbacks take it 11 to 9 in Philadelphia in a wild one here and they avoid a three game sweep.
Geraldo Perdomo and the Arizona Diamondbacks take on Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies on May 4, 2025.

3. no sweep on snek 🚫🧹🐍✌️
I think perdomo using a heavier bat this year
Can’t believe we missed the challenge of the out call at 2nd at 9:11, would have won us this one in regulation probably. Looks like his foot was definitely off the bag when he caught it. GGs tho! No sweep of snek, now we gotta beat my roommate’s Mets a couple more times!
Our bullpen is a starting pitchers nightmare. Its getting hard to watch at this point. The Dbacks are not a playoff team with that God awful bullpen. Its bad, it always is
Hell of inconsistant smh
Torey, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep Perdomo at the Top of the Lineup !!!!
PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE BULLPEN DBACKS!!
Need to be better when we have a big lead
Really gutsy win, was always gonna be a difficult series but it especially stings because of just how winnable it was. Hopefully it doesnt bite us in the ass for NL wild card race like those tiebreakers last year
