And Elder fires and Kik hits it up in the air to right center field. Lei White drifting over to his right. He’ll make the catch on the move for out number one in the Dodger third. Hey friends, MLB is partnering with the Crisis Text Line to help increase mental health awareness. It’s important and it’s in free. It’s open 24/7 confidential support in English and in Spanish. So text MLB to 741741. That’s MLB741741. One out and Michael Conforto takes a strike. Confordto with an incredible play to retire Drake Baldwin last half inning. And Dave Roberts was asked during his media session today in the dugout about Conforto and his struggles at the plate. Swinging a foul back and it’s 0 and2. And Dave just said, “Look, I’m confident running him out there every day.” He said he’s my pick to click and he’s it’s going to happen for him. But right now he’s been really struggling. Starts the night hitting 144. He’s only 14 for 97. 02 pitch and Conoro strikes out looking on a slider inside. Fifth strike out for Bryce Elder. Elder has made it look easy. Well, starting to look like what Friday night looked like here with Brandt Holmes on the mound. Holmes struck out a career-high nine in that one. And to this point in the game, he also had five strikeouts. It’s almost a carbon copy. Two men out. Austin Barnes, the batter. And Barnes takes a strike. Elder out of the University of Texas delivers. And Barnes swings, hits it to right field. White might have misjudged it. He does. It’s over his head, bounces off the track and off the wall. And into second base is Austin Barnes. Well, that was just poorly played by White. Broke in, then went back, but just drifted back on the ball. You can tell by his reactions right now. Head down, he knows that he missed a golden opportunity. They really have not that difficult of a play. Turned it into a double. And for Barnes, his third double of the season. This brings up Otani. He is the tying run. Braves leading at two nothing here in the third. First pitch is outside. A sinker. Want to know Shi. You struck out looking first time up. Utani standing tall. Hands out over the plate. The pitch outside and low. Two balls in no strike. Good count now for Otani. Allen the short stop playing right up the middle. Stretching the pitch. And that was a good pitch. It was a slider over the outer half but caught a lot of the plate. Called a strike. Two and one to show. That’s actually it’s a good pitch to take cuz that that was a pitcher’s pitch. Started outside, barely got the corner. 2-1 on the way now to Otani outside. Three and one again. An advantage count for the hitter here. Right side of the infield playing deep. Their heels touching the outfield grasp. Practical pitch outside. Ball four. And the tying runs aboard for Mookie Betts. Otani wants. It’s amazing. Otani has not had that many advance this year. I mean, eight home runs, 11 RBI, haven’t been a whole lot of people on base, but when there are people on base and scoring position, boy, did they pitch to him differently. They do. Talk about cautious. Well, the way that Elder attacked him with nobody on in his first at bat and the way that he pitched him here. Now, Moetsz hits a ground ball down to third base. Riley picks it up, throws the first and that’s that. Dodgers will leave two. No, one hit. That was Barnes double. And at the end of two and a half innings, it’s Atlanta 2 Dodgers nothing. 570 LA. Smith Clarks wanting him to right down the line. It may go. Go crazy, folks. Go crazy. It’s a home run and the Cardinals have won the game by the three to two. Atlanta Braves leading the Dodgers two nothing. Bottom of the third and eight. Top of the order back up for Atlanta against Dustin May. It’s Alex Verdugo, Austin Riley, and Marcel Ozuna. Verdugo walked and scored. He got the ride home for free on the home run by Austin Riley. Left-handed batter, open stance, looks out at May. May steps back, kicks, fires, and he snaps one in there for a strike. A two seamer at 93. After the rain, the three-hour 6 minute delay, I’ve got good news for you. There’s only 1% chance of precipitation right now in the area. So, you’re saying there’s a chance. Here’s the 01 pitch now. And Verdugo lets it go high. One ball, one strike. One and one to Alex Verdugo. There’s the pitch in for a strike call. One ball in two strikes. Well, that’s good. That’s a better forecast than he gave me last night. Last night the official forecast was ugly. It was Sunday, you said. Yes. Here’s a one-two now to Verdugo. He’ll swing and hit it up the middle. Base hit. Three straight innings. The leadoff man has been aboard for Atlanta. At PM, when the Dodgers steal a base at home, you score a free hot dog. And in the 12 oz slim Coca-Cola. Redeem your free feast in the AMM app. Let’s play ball. AM. Too much good stuff. One on. Nobody out. Austin Riley back up. Stretch by May. He sends a pitch inside right near the belt buckle of Riley. Riley had the jack knife to get out of the way. Riley hit a hanging sweeper right over the middle out his last time up. Pitch swung on. Fisted foul back to the back stop. One ball, one strike to Riley. Yeah. Different swing in that fast ball in his hands, wasn’t it? Well, that’s the weapon that Dustin has. He’s got that two seamer and he can get that armside run by getting it in under the hands of the hitter. and he throws it there. And this one’s blasted to center field over towards slight left center. It’s gone. Austin Riley’s done it again. His second two-run home run. It’s four to nothing Atlanta. It was a sweeper. It was hung over the middle again. And Riley just hammered. Well, I’m surprised that Dustin May, we just got through talking about coming inside. You tie up a hitter, late swing or foul ball, and you follow it up with a breaking ball right down the middle. He’s been burned twice. Marcel Ozuna comes up with the bases clear and nobody out. Strike one delivered to him on a sinker. scores. Riley four, Dodgers nothing. Does he hit two two bombs? That one 416 ft. Pitch swung on a ground ball through the open hole in the right side. That’s a base hit. Marcelo Zuna has his first hit of the night. Three straight hits against Dustin May here in the third. [Music] again for May. The Dodgers need some length out of him because tomorrow the bullpen’s going to get taxed. We don’t know who’s going to start tomorrow, but we do know that Ben Kasparius is supposed to have the bulk innings in the game. Whether he starts or whether he comes in in relief still remains to be seen, but that all depends on what happens here tonight. How the bullpen gets used or has to be used. Right now, the Dodgers have fallen behind four nothing. When the Braves score four or more runs in a game this year, their record is 14-4. That’s been a positive trend for them, but it’s been all Austin Riley tonight. Dustin May has given him two really hitable pitches and he has not missed. Ozuna at first, very short lead and the batter is Matt Olsen. Pitch outside ball one. And the Dodger offense needs to get going. The only hit for the Dodgers belongs to Austin Barnes. And it’s only because the right fielder misjudged a fly ball. One pitch back door strike called. One ball, one strike to Olsen. Austin Riley. It is his eighth career multi home run game. And a one-1 pitch from May. That’s up high. Two balls and a strike. Olsson fly to center his first time up. Braves first base peeking out at Dustin May. May checks the runner at first, but Ozuna is almost as close to first as Freddy Freeman is. The pitch swan foul tipped into the glove of Barnes for a strike. If you’re a base runner, and Ozuna is not really built for for speed, but if you’re a base runner, you can kind of figure out Dustin May, his breathing pattern as he comes set, he takes a deep breath right before he comes out of the stretch position. Next offer outside, full count, three and two. So, if you’re really studying him closely, how much you study the breathing pattern and what’s the what’s the pacing of it? It appears to be the same. May set at the belt. Payoff pitch to Olsen. Swung on line drive right at Kik Hernandez. He’ll throw to second and get the out. There was uh and throws to first. Well, Kik thought maybe it skipped. So, he threw to second to get the force out. They threw her to first base and Marcelo Zuna standing there and the first base umpire Lance Bartdale said he was safe. Either way, they got one out out of it. I don’t know. TK, I think, tried to sell the double play. He did catch that ball in the air. That was simply a line out to the second baseman for Matt Olsen. It’s a good play. Go ahead and make the play. Let the umpire sort it out. Right. Aussie Albby is batting left-handed. Takes the ball away. Olsson wasn’t really running out of the box either. DK decided to let that ball accidentally fall out of his glove. They might have had to one pitch and that’s up high. But the other thing too, Tim, that was an out. There’s not been but one ball that was hit that you can even consider somewhat soft. That was the ground ball to the right side of the infield by Ozun. Everything else been hit hard. Two pitch from May Albes takes it away. Count goes to three and0 on Aussie Alders. One down, one on. 4 nothing Braves in the bottom of the third. May settles on the hill. First base side of the rubber. Kicks and fires. And he’s walked Albus in everything outside. goes down to first. Ozuna walks over to second base. First and second, one out. Michael Harris the second coming up. Well, things are not going very swimmingly to say the least for Dustin May in this ball game. Mark Brier, the pitching coach, will come out and have a word in the bound visit brought to you by Jacobe and Meyers because everyone deserves justice. Well, the mix is not good at all. 56 pitches, 38 strikes. On the flip side of the coin, Elder in three innings has made 39 pitches and 25 have been for strikes. Strike percentage better. A couple of things very quickly. I mentioned, you know, okay, pitch selection. Pitch selection has been interesting. Repeatability on the deliveries has not been consistent, at least in what we’ve seen. Two on, one out. Paris had a single in the second inning. Stole second. Not being held on. Freeman playing behind him. That’s playing behind Ozuna, but now backs off. And the pitch to Harris low in for a ball. You remember May throwing this many breaking pitches? No. No, I mean his sinker has been tremendous, but he’s really relying on the sweeper. There’s a ground ball. Deflects off of May. Kik gets it to Muki. Throw to first. Safe at first, but Kik without with not a clean exchange. If he has a clean exchange, they get the double play, but they do get the one out in the middle. And there are runners at the corners with two away. Zuna advances to third. Albz is forced out officially one to four-6 cuz that ball hit off for May first and Harris is aboard on the fielder’s choice. That was close at first. Eli White right-handed batter. Two on, two out. Check swing. They want an appeal down to first. Lance Barkstdale said he did not swing. One ball, no strike. Does Harris take off for second base some point in this sequence? You think so with two outs here? Stretch by May. Quick turn and the throw to first base and diving back is Harris. if he had not taken that that big breath and exhaled before he threw over to first base. There’s the pitch. It’s swung on. Fouled away. You know, anything a pitcher does that can be a tell, you know, for a base runner, including that big breath that and you’re looking at everything. I mean, from a hitter standpoint, you’re looking, well, does he hold the ball a little bit different? Does it come set in a different spot? Above the belt, below the belt is one of breaking balls, an off speed pitch. And the pitch, sweeper inside. You talking about the number of sweepers. The percentage this year, that’s the pitch he’s thrown the most. 40% of his pitches have been sweepers. 34% sinker, 21% forcame. There goes Harris. pitches swung on and fouled back. I I would be interested to sit down with Dustin May and say, “Okay, you have these four pitches. Which is your nastiest pitch? If it’s the sinker, why are we not seeing it at a higher percentage than the secondary pitches?” Runners lead first and third. Two down and a two- two count. There goes the runner. pitch swung not fouled back again. Let’s pause 10 seconds for station ID on the world champion Dodgers audio network. Champion LA Dodgers KAC KYSR HD2 Los Angeles a preset on the free iHeart Radio app. Two on, two out, stretch. And there goes the runner again. And this time it is a call. Third strike on a sweeper as Dustin May strikes out his fourth man of the game. But he gives up two runs on three hits. Austin Riley with his second home run of the game. And after three full at truest park in Atlanta, it’s the Braves four. Dodgers nothing. LA’s best sports star. That’s a good endorsement there. AM570 LA Sports. You’ve waited. No, that we locked the door. Oh, that was the reason. Well, now it makes sense. One and one to Freddy Freeman. Elders pitch and Freeman hits it on the ground right side. One-handed by Olsen. He grounded out to Olsen at first, his first time up. And we’ll take a strike here. A slider from Elder. That slider was right down the middle. Oh, one pitch. Ain’t that slow? Sometimes pitchers I’ve heard Chris Sail say this s a little bit brave staff. I’ve heard him say that that you know every once in a while he’ll just throw one over the middle early in the count just to see if he can get ahead. Knowing some hitters tendencies, they like to go deep in the count, take the first pitch here and there, but there’s a shot up the middle and a base hit. And now Tayaskcar Hernandez has hit in 11 of his last 12 ball games. Elder just asked for a new baseball right before that pitch. That’ll teach him. Now again, your theory on that? Well, my theory is is that the pitcher does not like the seams of the baseball. And why do I mention the seams? Well, the pitcher, if you’re going to be throwing a breaking ball, would you rather have better seams? Yes. They’re sewn with the same tension the baseballs are, but some just have a different feel. Once he takes upstairs, one ball, no strike. So, if the count were in my way and you happen to see somebody say, “Hey, wait a minute. I I don’t want this baseball. What’s the reason for it? Is it to get a better pitch? Is it to get a better baseball to throw the breaking ball?” Pitch down low. Two and0. I mean, hitting begins well before you get to home plate. Preparation before the game, no question about that. Then during the game, what are the observations? Does he double up on breaking balls if he gets a strike? Two in for a strike. What does he do? Three and two. What does he do with the when he’s behind in the count? Does he change things when he’s behind in the count versus ahead in the count? Two and one to Max. Max struck out on a slider in the second inning. stretch by Elder and the pitch swung on fouled back. Now you let off a lot, but you’re also bad in other parts of the order, but when you lead off, especially when you’re on the road, you’re the first one up. You get the first look at any any live pitching. Yeah. And you get that feeling, too. If you make it out, you come back, hey, what’s he doing? How’s it looking go? Nobody helped me. That’s right. Yeah. But they want to know, look, did you pick up the ball? Does it come out of his hand easily? What’s the breaking ball look like? Is it sharp? 22 is low and in. Three and two to Muny. One out to Oscar at first. Braves up four nothing. Top of the fourth inning. But there’s normally at least one other person on the ball club that you share information with because maybe you’re very similar in style of hitting both strengths and weaknesses. And a hard thing for a hitter for for a player from what’s what’s the biggest weakness that I have? Is it a breaking ball? Is it a fast ball? Is it inside? Is it outside? Is it up? Is it down? They off pitch and Muny rips it to the right field corner. Pioskar is going to turn second, head for third. Muny’s going to turn first, head for second. They’re going to wave home Hernandez. Pio Oscar to the plate. The throw is cut off by Albies and Maxy drives in a run with a double. Dodgers on the board. It’s four to one. And Dodgers need the runs. And for Max Muny, he needs some base hits. story about getting the prescription. He’s got glasses now that he’s wearing even though he had technically the good score on eyesight 2012 and a stigmatism in his right eye. His left eye is a dominant eye. So, how does he position his his head to get a full look at at the pitcher and the pitch coming in PZ with Muny in scoring position now. Pitch by Elder and PZ takes inside ball one. But I think for for Muny too, Tim, I I think it’s extremely important now now with the prescription glasses and with a new approach using those that he come out and he’s swinging the ball better. Strike calls. I think of Kiki Hernandez very quickly is that you know last year Kiki was having some problems. He went to the same optometrist Dr. Alex and Kiki said for the first time he could actually see the spin of the ball. pitch outside. Two and one. Well, it’s important to be able to pick up not only the speed of the ball, but the spin of the ball as a hitter. Mhm. Now, you don’t see the spin all of the time, but many times with a slider, for example, with the way that it’s gripped most of the time and and with the the rotation of the ball, sometimes you see what looks like a little red dot on top of the ball, but that’s because the seam is constantly spinning in a very high rapid uh spin rate. Two two Pah outside. Another full count here for Elder. Three and two. Muny off of second base. Dodgers on the board now. Braves leading at four to one after Muny’s runscoring double. Got Hernandez home. Pitch swing on. Ground ball to third. Picked up by Riley. He looks Muny back to second. Throws on to first for the out. There are two down. KK Hernandez on his way to the plate. So here are the numbers on KK Hernandez. We’re talking about Muny. Okay, fine. and he gets his eyes exam and gets a prescription. Well, if we look at last year, KK Hernandez in the first 71 games was hitting at 171. Not the prescription change and the last 55 games hit 274. It’s to up all one. And we like those numbers the last 55 games. And so to kick in, he was honest. Look, I can see the baseball better cuz these guys have tremendous eyesight. You have to have it in order to hit a ball. One pitch. Swung on. Popped up. Shallow left. Out goes Nick Allen. Back to the infield. In comes the left fielder Verdugo. He’ll make the catch. And the Dodgers are done in the top of the fourth inning. One run, two hits, one left. No Braves errors after three and a half. It’s the Braves four. Dodgers won. Dodger coverage morning till 9. Baldwin hit the ball the other way to left field and Michael Confor made a great play on him back in the second inning. The first pitch is dealt up high for a ball. Ball and no strike. Outfield shifted around a little bit to the left. Not very deep in left as Conorto pitch low and in. He went to the change up that time. I haven’t seen too much of that. Dustin does not throw a bunch of those. I haven’t seen a lot of four seamers either. He does have great velocity. I mean before he got hurt he was typically throwing in the upper 90s even with the two seamer two pit swung on and missed. There’s the sinker and it’s gone a little bit lower than that as far as the velocity coming in tonight. It has averaged 94.5 which is still not bad. Major league average has been 93 last couple of years. Good ball, one strike pitch. That’s inside. Baldwin backs up. Three and one. 68 pitches now for Dustin May. Throws here in the fourth inning. May looks over the webbing of his glove. He holds it out in front of him. Now steps back. Big high leg kick pitch. Swung on the ground ball to the right side. Kik to his glove side. He has been late to the dance. and and oddly enough, the first at bat after throwing the fast ball by him basically came back with three consecutive breaking balls. They’ll wind up the 02 pitch to Nick Allen. Throws the sweeper this time on a check swing foul ball. Padres’s beat the Pirates 4 nothing in Pittsburgh. Boston the fifth inning. 4-1 Braves with the lead and watch Elder will face Conorto Barnes and Otani in the Dodger half of the fifth inning. Elder five strikeouts so far in the game. His slider’s been working pretty well and Conforto late on the pitch. High fast ball that was out of the strike zone. The ball’s in one strike and Forto struck out looking on a slider last time up in the third. Next offer missing just high. About the same pitch that he offered at strike one. Going to offer once maybe offered twice. One ball, one strike. Now a pitch in for a strike taken. No force up high in the zone, but definitely in the strike zone this time. You know, we take a lot of things for granted just looking out in that tunnel beyond center field fence. Couple of ground screw guys have gloves. They’re playing catch. That’s a way to go, guys. Stealing some time. One, two, pitch inside corner called strike three. And Conorto’s gone down looking twice. Sinker got him. Last night he went down looking three straight times. That’s five strikeouts in the last two games. All looking. And he has struck out six times in this series looking. Seven times total. Austin Barnes the batter and he’ll take a strike. Well, we’ve been there, done that. It kind of tells me he’s not picking the ball up out of the pitcher’s hand. Not tracking it particularly well at all. Oh, one pitch and Barnes takes inside. Barnes double to right his first time up. You know, when you start to swing at pitches out of the strike zone and taking pitches that are in the strike zone, you’re really kind of confused at home plate. when one Barnes fouls it back, which is kind of a diagram or definition of a slump. It’s a lonely place and a frustrating place to be. And every one of these hitters is going to go into it at one point in time. Question is, how long does it take them to get out of it? There’s a one-two pitch and it is fouled on the ground pass first. You get in a real bad slump. You know, people want to help you out, but sometimes you don’t want to hear it, right? When you’re in the dugout. Well, you become a little defensive. You know, there are times you get in such a bad slump, you’re hoping for rain. One, two, that’s up high. But when rain is your best case scenario, you know you’re in a slump. Yes. And you’re probably not in the lineup either. No. Here’s a two- two from Elder. And Barnes lips it to left field. And the Dodgers taking advantage of the leadoff walk issued to Mookie Betts by the starter Bryce Elder. So that run charged to Elder. One-1 pitch to Pahz and he takes up high. Two and one look still open on Elder as Freddy Freeman is his responsibility down at third base. Johnson red leather glove up by the letters ready to go. Looks at third, kicks and fires and a strike called with a fast ball that nicked the outside corner. It’s two and two to Pahes. Andy didn’t agree with the call by home plate umpire Ryan Additton. Asks for time and gets it. Now steps out now getting back in. Taps home plate, fixes his batting helmet, pinw wheels the bat a few times and waits. Two- two pitch to PZ coming from Pierce Johnson and Andy strikes out on the curve ball and a miss. Dodgers pick up one run on one hit. They leave a man. No Atlanta errors. The bottom of the seventh inning is brought to you by Bank of America, the official bank of the Los Angeles Dodgers. So glad you’re with us here tonight. Sunday Night Baseball game from Atlanta, Georgia. Matter where you’re listening or how you’re listening, we appreciate it. Well, the Dodgers the offense again for the first seven games of this streak averaging nine runs a game, right? But when you look at tonight, runs have been pretty difficult to come by. Yeah. And we start to look at, you know, recent games on top of it, including game one of this series. Two to one Dodgers victorious in that one. They’re only six hits in a game. Four by the Dodgers, two by the Atlanta Braves. The pitching has been pretty darn good in all three games. Garcia finished the game last night, picked the ninth inning, put up a couple of hits in a walk, struck out a couple and just waiting for the goal from television. Start the bottom of the seventh inning. The Dodgers are running out of bouts tonight. Rogers the only team in baseball this year to have multiple winning streaks of seven games or more. And they’re trying to match their season best win streak of eight. It’s still an opportunity. Couple of more bats left in this one tonight. And Luis Garcia needs to hang a zero. Pumps his front left leg three times. Set at the belt. Now kicks and fires home to Verdugo. It’s outside ball one. Luny in on the grass at third. off the line and PZ in center field playing toward left center. Way over off the line and right is Teayoski the left-handed hitter. Verdugo is one for two with a walk. There’s a swinging strike. One ball, one strike. That’s playing towards second base just to the left of it. Heels near the outfield grass. One ball, one strike pick outside. Two and one. If the Dodgers can come back all the way, that would be something they haven’t done. Finish that in a second. Ground ball to second. Rojos up with it. Throws on to first, one out. Again, if they can come back and win tonight, they’ll complete a season sweep of the Braves. Something they’ve never done. They’ve won the first five and are just a run away here in the six. So, Verdugo is out four to three. And now Austin Riley up. Two home runs for Riley. The last Braves player with a three home run game. Travis Darno. That’s right. One of the Darno brothers who was a Dodger for about a minute before coming to the Braves. Darno did it on the 19th of April of last season against the Ranger. Strike call to Riley and the one pitch. Swung on. Bounced foul third base side right by the Dodgers dugout. Javier over there to make a great play. Well, with Riley, one thing we’ve learned already, don’t throw hanging curve balls because that’s what he’s hit out for both of the home runs off of Dustin May. Think sweepers that ended up over the fat part of the plate. Oh, and two to Riley from Garcia and it’s in the dirt outside. One and two. Something you’ll look at later on tonight, tomorrow. Seemed like a very high percentage of breaking pitches from Dustin Maiden. More than we normally see and a ground ball hit to third. Maxy plays a good hop, sets his feet, overhand throw to first in plenty of time and Riley is out. Five to three. Two away. Hey friends, looking ahead, it’s going to be Mookie Bets’s bobblehead night on May 13th. That’s against the A’s. Marcel Ozuna, the designated hitter, one for two tonight. Hit by a pitch last time up and he’s now got his second hit as he lines the first pitch. A fast ball into center field. He’s been on base three times tonight. You know, Zuna swings the bat. It’s as if he swings the bat because he’s mad. I mean, he just attacks the baseball. Dave Roberts coming to get Garcia with the left-hander Matt Olsen coming up. And the Dodgers will make a change here. Of course, they dim the lights so we can’t see who’s running in. taking a look at it and it’s going to be Anthony Bond. So, left- on left matchup as Bond will face Matt Olsen with two outs. The sinker up in the zone down the middle. Bond gets ahead of him. One ball and two strikes. The Dodgers in the eighth. Freddy Freeman would lead off. Tay Oscar Hernandez to follow. And a one-two from Bond trying to get him to chase a slider and he wouldn’t. Two and two. He came close to wanting to make a full swing. Held up. Ronda in a big spot here trying to get Olsen. Shallowing left is KK Hernandez and the pitch on the way. The two swung on. Ground ball first base side. It’s off the glove of Freeman. Diving stop. Rojos throws to first. Bond stretching. Oh, what a play. Oh, what a play. First a dive by Freeman off his glove. It deflected and changed direction. Rojos there. Bond continued to first. The Braves are going to decide whether or not to look at it. They said nope. They’re not going to as the Dodgers end up with a tremendous defensive play to end the inning. Wow. Diving to his left and making the stab and able to advance the ball to first base for the out. Beensive defense shown tonight by both sides. I tell you that play to end the bottom of the seventh inning. It took three tremendous efforts by the Dodgers. First pitch in the dirt to Tayaska Hernandez. Freeman diving for the ball off of his glove. Miguel Rojos diving for the ball and then from the seat of his pants throwing over to first and alertly on his first base back. Swinging a fast ball and a miss. One and one. Yeah, that was a was spectacular how they get that last out. Next offer is high. Two and one. It’s not a play you work on. No, no, not ever. Second left on left match up here right-handed hitting Eli White on deck. Monty even with the bag toes almost touching the infield grass at third. The plays off the line and a strike call started him with a slider. The balls add one strike to Harris. Here’s the pitch. swinging a little grounder pass the mild right side charging as Rojas quick flip to first gets it there in time. Boy, that’s a nifty play by Miguel Rojas for the second out. That’s a little play. Another defensive gin. Meanwhile, you know, there’s a lot that goes on in between half innings, for example. I’m pointing to is it for Dave Roberts. He knows he has Will Smith on the bench. I would imagine Smith as we speak is taking some swings in the batting cage. They saw Kim also just called up yesterday has speed. He’s probably getting his legs loose in case the Dodgers get a runner on. Down by a run in the ninth inning. Looks to Eli White is down and in. So it’s scheduled to be Pes Kiki Hernandez and then Miguel Rojos in the top of the ninth. Dodgers need one more out to to go in the ninth. Just one run down. Pitch to White. Cut in a miss. One ball, one strike. Yeah, just as you mentioned that I see the son Kim take his jacket off in the dugout and he is getting loose in the stretch a little bit. You know, one thing he could do is that as soon as the half inning is over, he could sprint down the the left field line and come right back too during the half inning. One-on-one one pick. White takes outside didn’t do much. Two balls in a strike. That’s why managing a team, boy, you can in your armchair. Okay. Well, let’s do this. SL I’m about three and four innings ahead and that’s what managers do. Now with 2-1 swung on and missed. You see a right by him. Two and two to Eli White. Andy PZ is due to lead off in the top of the ninth for the Dodgers. Highway 22 on the way. Here it comes from Bond. Low and in to White. Three and two the count. will count on Eli White. The scheduled hitters, PZ, Kik Hernandez, and Miguel Rojas. 3-2 on the way. Here it come. Swinging a ground ball right side. That’s through for a base hit. Lei White keeps the bottom of the eighth alive for Atlanta. And that should bring up the catcher, Drake Baldwin. So Bond had white on the ropes and he lost it. Now he’ll try his luck with the left-handed hitter in Drake Baldwin. Baldwin is one for three in the game. That’s shading second base deep on the right side. Rojos and did he go? Going to peel down to third base umpire Ryan Wills. He said he did. So it’s a strike to Baldwin. 4-3 Braves leading. Bottom of the eighth. Two outs, one on. The 01 from Anthony Bond to Drake Baldwin will wait. Throw to first. Stepping over there is Bond. Getting back standing is White. It’s a rather deliberate move. Bond has a better one than that. White can run. He’s stolen only two bases, but he has not been caught. Pitch outside a slider. Then it’s one and one. One ball, one strike to Drake Baldwin. Bond light blue leather glove up by his letters. Leans over toward first. Now the pitch over the outside edge for a strike. Well, Baldwin has that slightly open stance. To me, it appears that he opens it a little bit more against a leftander, which you’ll see some guys do. Here’s a one-two pitch now to Drake Baldwin from Bond. Runner goes throw to first instead. Freeman throws down to second base. Mookie applies the tag and the Braves run themselves out of the unit. So White is caught trying to swipe second base and now the Dodgers are down to their final three outs. Down by a run. We go to the top of the ninth inning. The score the Braves four moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921. Smith courts went into right down the line. It may go crazy folks. Go crazy. Yeah, and that’s I mean that’s a remarkable low batting average last two years. Elevated fast ball 025 versus Glacius. Pitch before that was a change up at 90 mph. A change up. Here comes an 02 pitch as PZ readies himself in the right side batters box. 02 pitch from Aacius. Swung out and fouled back again. Slider. Another sellout here tonight. The Dodgers and Braves have sold out all three games here. 02 pitch swinging a foul back. 39,649 tonight. Braves have sold out seven total and three of them have come against the Dodger. Vahz trying to find a way here in the ninth. 02 from Riseli Glacius and it’s a bouncing ball toward the right side off the glove of Azie Alves and safe at first is Pahz and the Dodgers with nobody out of the tying run. And Pahz just battled. He was down quickly 0 and2. He fouled off a change up. He fouled off a 96 mph fast ball. He fouled off a slider and then went the other way with a base hit. And the Dodgers have the tying run aboard. Hess Kim is going to come and run for him. Kim made his major league debut last night coming in defensively in the ninth inning and now he pinch runs representing the game’s tying run. He’s got really good speed. So 13 bases in Triple A with Oklahoma City. One ball, one strike. All a strike to Will. Will pinch hitting DK Hernandez in the top of the ninth inning of a one-run ball game. Go to first and Kim just gets back in time. Son Kim, good size lead at first base. Stretch by Glacius. There goes Kim for second. Pitches a ball throw down. safe at second. The first major league stolen base for his son Kim. And now he’s in scoring position representing the tying run. And with Kim, it just gives the Dodgers a different dimension that Dave Roberts understands. They put it to use. And now the tying run. Well, base hit away. And Will Smith has the best average in Major League Baseball with runners in scoring position. 609. He’s 14 for 23. That’s ahead of Aaron Judge of the Yankees. And Deasca Hernandez is third. Nobody out. And the pitch to Smith taken for a strike. A sinker down the middle. Two balls, two strikes to Will. Riley deep behind the bag at third guarding the line. He’s only about 6 ft off the the third base foul line. Kim leads at second. Pitch to Will. He swings, fists it foul. Back to the screen. 4-3 Braves lead. Top of the ninth. Dodgers threatening. Dodgers have done well with runners in scoring position, winning seven in a row, but they’re 0 for seven tonight. Pitch to Will. Swings, fouls it off to the right again. He got a fast ball at 95. That was up. checking his surroundings, seeing where Alby’s, the second baseman, is stretching the two- two to Will Smith from Aacius. The ball gets away from the catcher on strike three. First base is open. And now Kim going for third. He’s going to make it. So strikeout 23, the put out. Because Smith had the presence of mind to take off for first. The Braves had to make a play down there. And Kim, good timing. Smartly broke for third. And now the tying run is 90 feet away. Well, you start to talk about instinct. It’s one thing to happen. And Kim read that perfectly. Soon as the ball got away from the catcher, he looked to third, then realize, hey, I’ve got to throw it to first base because Will Smith alertly and enthusiastically trying to to run it out at first base. This brings the Braves infield in with one out. Miguel Rojos, the batter, pitch to Miguel is outside ball one. Rohos has been a pretty good contact hitter. He’s not choking up on the bat, but got the Dodgers on the board with that pinch hit home run. One pitch and Miguel swings at a change up. He was way out in front. One ball, one strike to Rojas. Son Kim stole second, advanced to third on the strike out two-3 put out. Here’s the pitch and another swing in a miss at another change up. So he doubled up on the change and gets ahead of Rohuz and two strikes. Austin Barnes is on deck with the infield in here and one out. You got to feel this is the best shot right now. A lot of room behind the infielders for Rojas. One, two, swing and a miss. Strike three. He tripled up on the chain. Pull him three straight change ups and Roas swung and missed at each one. And the Dodgers down to their last out. It’s up to Austin Barnes to keep the game alive with Show Otani on deck. Barnes doubled in the third. One for three. Pitch cut out and missed and it’s nothing in one. That’s Kent to get a big lead at third. Austin Riley playing deep with two down. 01 to Barnes and he takes a strike and the Dodgers down to their final start. fell out crowd. Ryzen is one here at Truis Park. Two outs, tying one at third, nothing and two to Austin Barnes. Glacius stretch it. He delivers and Barnes files it back to the screen. Now stays 0 and two. Otani on deck. Rogers trying to get to him. Here’s the O2 pitch. Swung on a miss. Strike three. Chase the slider way outside and the ball game is over and the Braves salvage a game in this series, ending the Dodgers sevengame win streak. The Dodgers lead a tying run at third and Otani on deck here in the ninth inning. Tough night as the Dodgers offense slowed down against the Braves pitching tonight and they lose this ball game by a 4 to3 score. Rick and I are back to wrap it up in just a moment.
