New York Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks – FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | May 5, 2025 MLB Season

hits and he skies this one to center field. Should be easy for Alec Thomas and the lefty loves it. First down of the night clarified after the game why he came out in the middle of the game. That’s a double play ball right at Perdomo. The flip to Marte and on first of the 643 double play to get Nelson through the first inning. And he hits this one deep to right field. Back goes Sodto near the wall and it’s out of here. Corbin Carroll leads off the bottom of the first inning with his 10th home run of the year. And it’s one- nothing Arizona. Was able to accomplish with the Angels last year. Marte does not run and Smith goes down swinging as he went right back to the slider and Canning gets his first out of the night and he certainly tre treasure treasure a ground ball here and he gets one right to McNeel. Lindor has to reach for the throw. Still able to turn it over from the double play. Great recovery by Lindor on a wide throw by McNeel and the Mets turn two and limit the damage to one run in the first inningation. They expect him to pitch this weekend. Breaking ball fly down the right field line coming over is Carol and he gets there to make the catch. Two out and he rifles this one to left but right at Glory who didn’t have to move an inch and that’s the way this inning ends. One- nothing Diamondbacks. See we got the cable cam here. We do nice double play ball. McNeel bobbles it. Recovers in time to get the force. And a chopper on the right side. Nice easy hop for McNeel and he takes care of Thomas to end the inning. So Cannon gets around the lead off hit. One- nothing Diamondbacks after two. Curve ball lifted to shallow center. Late start in for Thomas and he makes the running catch. Yeah, Thomas both pitched well. Tyrone Taylor drives one of the gap in right center field and that’s going to split him. It’ll go all the way back to the wall. Taylor has a head of steam around second. He’s going to try for three. The relay throw to third is not in time. Tyrone Taylor as hot as they come now. Five for six on this road trip. That’s his third triple of the season. And Lindoris skies one not very deep and right. Tagging at third is Taylor. Carol camped under it. Here comes Taylor. Here comes the throw to the plate by Carol and he slides and he is out. More like vodka. Two two coming. And Carol flies this one to center field. That’s pretty well hit, but Taylor goes back and should have room. Cell with steps from the wall. He makes the catch. The dome. Oh boy. Peanuts went out of sight to left field. Forget that. That is way way out of here. did it when Alonzo hit into a double play. Didn’t get away with it the second time. He goes upstairs to strike out Marte Marte and then Alvarez goes down swinging on high heat. There’s a big strike out for Nelson. Just his second of the game. And McNeel hits a weak ground ball past the mound. Marte tries to tag Bentos and he does. And that retires the side. And right now he’s starting to look a little bit more like the old Mark Ventos. Aan Smith. Tough hop for McNeel, but he stayed with it and made the play. You know, well, you can have a conversation with me for one thing. Good breaking ball by Catting to strike out Moreno and end the inning. Five strikeouts for Catting. He’s got a 2-1 lead after four. Lindor at first and Sodto hits a weak ground ball to the right side. Marte gets the out at second and the relay by Purdomo for the double play. So Castillo comes in and gets Soda to ground into the Mets’s third double play of the day. Griffin Canning facing the lower third of the Diamondback’s order. And Glory flies one deep to left center. Back in the gap goes NMOM. He’s got room in front of the warning track to make the catch. One pitch, one out for Canning in the home fifth. staying p keeping pace with the Dodgers. There’s a good change up by Canning to strike out Thomas at the and Marte grounds one right to McNeel and Canning able to work out of trouble in the fifth. Strands a couple. I mean, look at the company he’s in. Two seasons of over 400 on base percentage. Only you and Olarude. Oh, can I see that again? Alec Thomas grabs it. Two out and it’s a double play ball. McNeel shovels to Lindor. The rest is easy. 463 double play. Two out and nobody on. Two-2 coming to Suarez. And he waves out for strike three. Got him with the change up. So Brazon comes in, gets a double play and a strike out to keep it two to1 New York after six this year. No, we haven’t. You’re right. That’s ripped down the left field line and that’s going to go all the way to the warning track where it’s knocked down by Goreel. Alvarez will have to stop at third and Taylor pulls in at second with his second extra base hit of the day. Well above the league average and he rockets this one to deep right field. Back goes Carol at the wall. It’s out of here. Three-run homer. Francisco Lindor. You got Lindor and Sodto. Sodto rips one down the line headed toward the corner. It’s off the fence. Sodto heads for second. Carol’s throw coming in. Not in time. A bullet off the wall for Sodto for a ringing double. The fourth hit of the inning and the third straight extra base hit for New York. Double play ball. Marte with a nice dive. The flip to Purdomo onto first in time to turn two and that ends the inning. Nice play by Cel Marte. Robbing Sterling Marte. Mets had five hits last inning. Grounded down to third charging as Vientos throwing on the move. Lo picked out nicely by Alonszo. It’s a great shot right there of the ball going to the glove. Goriel flies one out to center and Taylor eases back and that’s two out. Fly ball out to left field. Should be easy for Nemo and it’s a one, two, three inning for Wascar Brazaban. He throws two perfect innings. 5-1 New York in the bottom of the eighth inning. One, two. Curveball struck him out. Good curve by Henry to strike out NMO for the Down 22. Struck him out. Got him with a splitter. One man down. Beautiful split. and he ls one to the center field for a base hit. That’ll bring home Perovo. Everybody else will move up a base. So Josh Deer delivers an RBI single to cut the men lead to 5-2 and Suarez to lock it to deep center field. Back goes Taylor and it’s off the fence. One run is in. Two runs are scored. And stopping at second is Naylor, who had gone back to tag off and is unable to advance any further. Oh wow. It’s five to four and the Mets catch a huge break as Suarez ends up with a single off the fence that scores two but not three. And he struck him out. Got him with a splitter. Two men down. And Guriel pops one up behind the plate. Alvarez coming back hoping and he’s got room. He’s got it. Side retired. Garrett gives up a couple of runs scoring hits. The Diamondbacks score a three, but the Mets hang on to the lead. Taylor turning to bunt drops down a beauty. That’ll advance the runner and Henry’s throw. And good footwork by Naylor at first base to save an error. Boy, here once again, Gary, we have Kuna faking down the line from third and Sodto tops the curve ball back to Henry. He makes the play and that retires the side. So, Edwin Diaz will get a one-run lead to work with in the bottom of the ninth and Tommy Henry puts down the threat in the top of the inning. 5 to four New York. Domo showing on that first pitch. Now, the runner goes the pitch outside. Alvarez’s throw and he’s out at second base. Oh, let’s see. Lindor tagging. Diaz has gotten from 3 and 0 to 3 and two. Fly ball along the left field line. Demo eases over. He’s there. Two out. Oh, and two to Corbin Carroll. He struck him out and the ball game is over.

  1. Soto has been the biggest disappointment ever… he's so lucky that the mets are still winning… because he's been so bad… he's the last guy i want to see in a big situation.. idk where this team would be w/o pete

  2. This was nice to hear only Mets announcers. Wow what a homerun that was from Pete Alonso and Lindor. Another almost loss. Gotta stay focused and try and win. Let's go Mets.

  3. The Soto thing was all, absolutely 100% about Cohen's ego, he may know baseball, I haven't had any personal discussions with him, but he had to prove he can outbid anybody, but if you notice most of the free agents he's wanted didn't want to play in the microscope of NY. Soto is definitely a good bat n young, but also a defensive liability. In today's market he's worth maybe 350 million. In what universe is he a better player than Ohtani? N I can't stand the Dodgers. From the minute he signed him I just kept thinking "all the money in the world to really a DH (Marte was much better in RF) from a team claiming they're gonna win it all with less than 2nd rate rotation, Manea's an aces? And practically no bullpen, the leads that bullpen has blown have been astronomical!!! 7-0 in Washington, wasn't it? If Marte was playing everyday in RF and that money went to the bullpen and 2 or maybe more Frontline starters, they'd be running away with the division already. Soto was also a business decision cause he knows NY has a very high Dominican population and the ones that can afford $100 seats in the Coca-Cola corner will be there.
I watched doc Gooden pitch right behind home plate in '85 in $8 box seats. Imagine that.
