Why Evan Carter, Bret Boone will help Texas Rangers fix their struggling offense

The Texas Rangers fired offensive coordinator Donnie Ecker and placed CF Leody Taveras on waivers after the offense struggled mightily this season. Chris Young hired Bret Boone to be Texas’ new hitting coach and will call up Evan Carter to presumably take the everyday center field job.

Boone was a good major leaguer for 14 seasons but doesn’t have any coaching experience, which could be a good thing. Carter struggled mightily in spring training with his health and mechanics as well as his mental approach, but has righted the ship lately in AAA.
