Malaki Starks Is Showing Leadership From Day 1 | Baltimore Ravens Final Drive

[Music] When the Ravens drafted Malachi Starks in the first round, they talked a lot about his intelligence and his leadership. George’s defense was loaded with blue chip players. And it was Starks who was really the leader of that unit. Now he’s making the jump to the NFL and we’re seeing his leadership stand out from the very first time that he’s been here in Baltimore. The Ravens held their rookie mini camp over the last few days and the first round pick was leading the pack. He was active in communicating throughout practice and he had no issue embracing his role as a leader on this team. Let me give you some insight into how he’s conducted himself behind the scenes since getting drafted. He is talking to everyone in the building, new teammates, staff members. I mean, everyone. This stood out to me when he came here for his introductory press conference the day after he got picked by the Ravens. He just carries himself with a great level of professionalism in everything that he does. But look, this goes beyond just being a nice guy. He’s leading the way with his teammates in a variety of ways. He worked with a group of players for extra time after practice on Sunday to really dive into certain coverages and how they’re playing defenses. He broke down the huddle in the weight room after lifting and he did the same thing at the conclusion of Sunday’s practice. His leadership is showing up in a big way, which is a strength of his game and the Ravens are already taking notice. And I expect him to do really well. You know, he’s he’s our first round pick. A lot is a lot to whom much is given, much is much is required. And he nobody understands it better than him as a young guy. Really impressed with his maturity. He broke the huddle today. That’s not an easy thing to do your first time. So, uh, so far so good. I think it’s it’s always been there, but I think, uh, when I got to University of Georgia, um, I just followed the right people. Uh, the leaders that were there before me, like I watched them and I saw what they did and then I figured out how I wanted to lead myself. Um, and I feel like you should always lead by example. So, that’s what I do. But, like I’ve learned different styles and techniques that people use and I kind of pick it up and put it into my own leadership. So, just being able to watch people um the right way and the right guys has helped me a lot. We’re going to have more stuff coming your way from mini camp.
