He forgot to put up the banner. Man, it would have been fun if we made it and he had it up the whole time. Oh well, THG is a busy guy. I still don’t know how he does it.
I do not see how you cannot get excited for this team’s future. Lot of young players took another step. Now the team can use the space to lock up core/key guys and maybe do some work in FA But as noted in the video and like EVERYONE knows : goaltending.
Till this is figured out, I don’t care what Dean and the rest do, this team will be stunted in their evolution. While I do believe Elvis is in a better place after this season than before (he might not desperately want to be traded now), he just is not a pure #1 workhorse goalie. When he is on, he is fantastic, but the issue is that the consistency is just not there. I think we will see Elvis and Jet next season. With giving Jet some significant starts to continue his growth is I think what we will see CBJ do. Tarasov is the odd man out (and coaching staff does not trust him) so he will be gone I believe.
The fact that we have so much cap space should terrify every GM in the league. We have a good enough pipeline that we could afford to put up an offer sheet to a top RFA player. We could give a max contract to Mitch Marner. We could sign one or two top defensemen. And we’d still have enough to retain most of our UFAs/RFAs. I also think that the amount of goodwill Columbus has built over the last decade that we have a fanbase that loves the team and a great quality of life around town, that should attract a few players into wanting to come over with this roster mostly intact for the next few seasons.
Now I don’t expect them to break the bank here, but there will absolutely be a big splash somewhere for this team this summer.
I just started to follow hockey more attentively in the past couple of months. Don’t even have a team. But, dang it, I have had so much fun watching Blue Jackets condensed games!
I am so excited to see what this team will do next season!
He missed some obvious points (to fans), but in general he does a great job, and he gets most of it right.
I think he missed Severson getting benched for the last few games, and I feel he missed out momentum against the Caps in the end. I feel we could have given them hell at least, and probably would have won it had MTL slipped up.
