#DallasCowboys Fish Report AM LIVE! George Pickens said … WHAT?

It’s breakfast fish. It’s breakfast at fishies. I’m Mike Fischer, your trusty and trust reporter. It’s uh it was good to be gone. It’s good to be back. Uh what a wonderful time we had at uh Kip and Nineveh’s wedding in Chicago. And I appreciate you guys kind of coming along with the ride, but also letting me ride by myself. Thank you very much for that. Thank you for hanging out at cowboyscountry.com as well while we were gone. three things on the fish for breakfast menu today. Um, and of course in the thumbnail you can see the most incendiary one. Let’s begin with item one, uh, the schedule. We did a quick live uh earlier this morning on the first item on the breaking news on the schedule. Cowboys play at the Eagles. This isn’t just the Cowboys and Eagles opener. This is the NFL opener. This is Thursday night, uh, first week in September and away we go. Uh, the Cowboys have by most measures a very difficult schedule and it starts out in the most difficult possible way. Here’s the nugget that we dropped on you that we mentioned earlier today. Last 20 years, this defending Super Bowl champions open their record in those games. And remember, they play good teams in those games. You know, it’s usually a marquee matchup of some sort. A lot of times it’s a rematch of whatever the playoffs 15 and five teams that are in the Eagles situation that they’ll be in in week one are 15 and five. Cowboys record against the Eagles of course as good as anybody’s um a fresh start. So the Cowboys in some ways can rely on some of the good things they’ve done before. Dak Prescott versus the Eagles. That’s a good thing historically. And then need to forget some of the things from history, too, including the five and 15 record of teams that are in their position. This will be the third straight year the Cowboys go on the road. The uh there was the uh that that idea that that Jerry had somehow in his speech to the rookies leaked that it was going to be the Giants. And I didn’t really get a chance to discuss that with you. He uses the Giants all the time. That’s the team he uses in the speech. boy, we’re going to go kick the Giants ass this year. That that’s that was never meant to be we’re playing the Giants this week. In his mind, the Giants are the team that you use as the example. Maybe it’s a maybe it’s just traditional in his head. It’s certainly NFC East. Maybe it has to do with New York being the big market. But but that wasn’t meant to be a hint. And now we have the reality. Item two, if you’re not familiar with it, first of all, if you’re not familiar with this, you must not have read cowboys.com yesterday because we were all over it. George Pickkins reputation. Warren Daniels, shut up and listen. I I don’t need you to tell me how to do this. Watch me. Thanks for being here, though. George Pickins reputation. Cody Mike, will Overshone play against the Eagles? No. Oversh uh targeting week the middle of the season as his comeback. David Harmon, Uncle Fish Premium. Now that’s the way to approach me. Is this the real deal? Let’s find out, shall we? George Pickin’s reputation as an overly emotional bad apple is what makes or made a hateful Instagram post seem believable. Now, George has to own that. Let’s think through this and I’m going to walk you through the post if you’re not familiar with it. In his three years in the NFL, his behavior allows his audience to think this might be real. There are plenty of guys in the NFL who if they and and we’ve seen this with the Cowboys. People do it to Dak Prescott all the time. Makes make up all this ridiculous stuff. and you the Dak Prescott that you know you know he didn’t say that this isn’t that Pickkins was entering the final year of his contract rookie contract and he still is Jason Price Dad’s funeral today Uncle Fish Premium first Cowboy season without him Jason uh I’m I’m quite sure that your memories with your father and sharing your Cowboys fandom will be a blessing as you move forward. I know it will and I appreciate you sharing that here and being with us here. George Pickkins is one of the best most talented receivers in the NFL, one of the best deep threat receivers. Um he rescued Russell Wilson last year. Those moon balls that’s that it’s easy to do for the quarterback. It made it look successful on the other end of the thing. And last week, his career takes a turn, maybe for the better, when he’s acquired via trade by your Cowboys, essentially a third round pick that, as we discussed here in great detail, the Cowboys can kind of get back the following year. Compensatory pick, third, fourth, whatever. So, it is in a in a lot of ways semiree. Good for the Cowboys. It’s pretty clear that Pittsburgh and Mike Tomlin, who’s in charge of these things, grew tired of George’s act. Grew tired of immaturity and troublesome behavior and blowups. Most of them that we know of on the field. Not he does not have a reputation in the locker room. as being a problem. It’s the emotions on the field. But now in the wake of this trade, as we go through the analysis of what George is and what he’s going to be here, Mike McCain, some people don’t understand that Amari Cooper has some of this completely different guy and completely different talent. But Mike, if what you’re trying to say is that that the casuals don’t understand what we’ve been saying about Amari Cooper now for three years, you’re right. Uh this idea that Amari Cooper had been somehow elevated in the Cowboys minds, re-elevated uh to a level where they were thinking they were picking between George Pickkins and Amari Cooper is completely false. That never happened. He’s a Jag and they know it. Joey Tomlin’s reputation for dealing with problem players is overrated. He’s the one who drafts them. Joey, that’s so smart. I’m gonna write it down and steal it. If Mike Tomlin has such a sour view of guys like this, why does he keep drafting them? It’s a great point. So, in the wake of the trade, Pickins seemingly called out his former team in an Instagram comment that went viral and have stirred up rumors about Pickin’s true thoughts of his former team and stirred up speculation about what’s in his heart. You guys are making a great point. Uh, Big Mac, you got it too. Like Tomlin, there’s there Steelers people, mostly fans who don’t love Tomlin the way the media loves Tomlin. Um, Steelers fans who are like, “Yeah, we we never lose every year. We don’t lose, but we don’t win.” And they would suggest that maybe Tomlin doesn’t do such a great job managing these guys. If he did such a great job managing all these guys, why do they have such a bad reputation managing, working with, whatever you want to call it? So, here comes the supposed Instagram post from George. And of course, some segments of the media, go for it, saying, “Holy bleep. Ste Pickkins just went off.” And I’m I’m going to tell you, I wish I could show you our texts, the 75 member staff. I’m on a plane as we’re discussing, okay, how we’re going to do this. Let’s take a breath. Gene Marts, $5 pitching. Your man Lando does needs a raise. 75 member staff. Landon Holyfield uh and his own parking spot. He basically is the one who broke the story grinding and burning the candle at both ends. You’re absolutely right. The concept of George Pickkins being traded to the Cowboys was absolutely broken by cowboyscountry.com in great detail and we’re very proud of that and discussed here. Discussed here weeks before anybody else had a sniff of it. And then we’re proud to say uh 2 days before the draft, we grabbed that ball and advanced it and stuffed it right down everybody’s throat, the Instagram photo, the captured photo, they the Steelers are the cheapest organization. Ain’t no stacking year after year. They’re gonna let them nwords go to. And what this post suggests obviously is that the Steelers don’t want to pay anybody and that’s why they got rid of me, George. Obviously, that’s not entirely true. They pay plenty of players. Um the the Steelers do have a reputation, not unlike the Bengals. Some people think the Cowboys have one where they don’t want to write the big check. Cowboys, of course, do write the big check for their own guys. Bengals this year broke their habit and the Steelers reputation uh probably isn’t as uh uh as earned as this would suggest. So, we’re ripping the Steelers and we’re using the And I’m on the phone with texting with my guy saying, “Let’s write it, but let’s think through it. Steve from Texas, Dallas Cowboys media all poo pooed the Pickkins trade idea and many of them it it’s true many of them mentioned me by name saying it couldn’t happen wouldn’t happen. Oh, well, the post was screenshotted. It purports to be a comment left by Pickins responding to somebody else’s comment. I guess it’s been taken down. Lee Walker, I like to judge people with how my interactions are with them, not other people’s opinion. I’ll judge for myself. I’ll buy that. Now, you won’t get a chance obviously necessarily to personally deal with George Pickins, but you will get a chance to watch him in action for yourself. Terren Franklin Pickkins didn’t text or write this. Pickings, according to his story, catches wind to this while he’s on a plane and he writes on Instagram, “I’m literally on a plane. No service. I just landed. I’m seeing the straight lies from Pittsburgh fans.” He’s saying that Steelers, a Steelers fan, created this, which you can do. Now, that doesn’t explain why it got taken down. Um, and he says AI did it when I guess what he means is he was hacked. I think Curtis, I heard Cowboys are playing Philly week one. Yeah, you heard it here. We we did that show already and I mentioned at the top of this show, but Curtis, thank you. That’s correct. Thursday night, the NFL’s league season opener is Cowboys at Philly. You are correct. I’m going to choose to believe George. He said I didn’t write that. That’s good enough for me. I guess these comments of course come on the heels of the George press conference with the DFW media in which he sounds sweet and lovely and he’s deflecting all these Yes, we all need, you know, you need to grow up. Yes, we’re we’re I need to grow up. We’re all We’re all trying to grow. I’m trying to grow. Team first. I don’t believe in one and two. We We’re all a team. I I’m I I I know Cowboy Nation bought that whole thing and there’s no reason not to lending hand. He means it’s photoshopped. I know. Except Except it it it appeared in some form and then got taken down. But I’m not denying at all the viability of it being fake because I have Facebook. I don’t see it. I don’t see Instagram. I’m not smart enough to understand. I see it all day on Facebook. I see all day on Facebook tragedy and then they mention some cowboy dies in a plane wreck. It’s all over my Facebook and it and then I get texts from people saying, “Did cowboys legend just die in a plane wreck?” It happens to me 20 times a day. Do I get it? George goes on Instagram and clears it up, saying, “That wasn’t me.” So, does that mean everything’s fine? Tubby Leak, Uncle Fish, you’re telling someone to shut up and listen. That’s crazy. You You must be new here, Tubby. It’s It’s not crazy here. Part of what we do here, and I’ll take a minute if you’re if you’re new, because we do have 74,000 fish heads in Cabin Nation. So, if you’re fairly new here, we we do we do bar room and we do classroom. There’s a time and a place for each. But when you jump on here and start telling me I’m wrong, before I even start flapping my gums, I’m going to tell you, shut up and listen. And then 15 minutes later, you can tell me I’m wrong. Barroom and classroom. Got it? It’s not complicated. And and if you have a YouTube channel you want me to go watch, I’ll do the same thing. I’ll watch your comments and then I’ll comment. Not going to comment on your comments before you comment. Dink. It’s logical. In the phone call, Pickkins sounded excited to be part of a winning culture. I I believe that. And he resisted the temptation to say anything bad about anybody. Then there’s this. and Charlotte put up this photo, a photo with uh her hubby and Pickins and Jerry, which means, assuming that’s not photoshopped by Charlotte, which means Pickkins has met with Jerry, not to mention with Charlotte, and gets to be part of this family. The fact that Pickkins has conducted himself with the media here and now with the Joneses in a civil way, a civil professional way suggests to me that this Instagram diet tribe and his claim that it’s fake, it’s good enough for me. But this is inescapable. No matter no matter what how the truth comes out, this is inescapable. The fact that people that fans fans media that quote know George Pickkins think it might be real speaks volumes about the reputation that he now needs in Dallas to fix. If he didn’t post that, grand. But he has a history of behavior that has caused people to think that he might have, right? We know, for instance, pick a guy. If there’s ever a post like that and it’s from Demarcus Wear, you know it’s fake. If there’s ever a post like that from Zack Martin, you know it’s fake. If there’s ever a post Darren Woodson or Tyron Smith, you know it’s fake. Whereas if there’s a post like that from, I don’t know, Antonio Brown, you don’t know it’s fake. And that and that is part of George’s responsibility. Joey B Pickkins will be under a huge microscope for the entire season. Media is dying for a story. And he’s about to experience the America’s team thing. You You get to be relative to Dallas. You got to be I’m not saying it’s Alaska, but Pittsburgh isn’t Dallas. This is different. The Rubio $5 pitch in Fish. If we decide to give Pickicket a contract next year, will we be able to afford him and CD Lamb? 100%. If you choose to have CD Lamb at 35 and to have George Pickkins in a with a T. Higgins type contract, they can absolutely do that. Um, they will they will pretend they can’t and maybe they won’t, but they can. And final thing for you to wrap all this up, CD Lamb, who likes to tweet cryptically, and I’ll I’m paraphrasing here, says in Dallas, no egos. Now, I don’t I don’t I don’t know what Dallas he’s I don’t know what Dallas he’s talking about. Is CD Lamb sending a signal to his own locker room? Michael Parsons is doing that. Michael Parsons is saying it. The leadership has changed. Now our locker room is going to change. Is CD Lamb doing the same thing? Sending a message to his room. No egos. Or is he saying it to and about himself now that George Pickkins is here? No egos for me. Because CD Lamb has worn his emotion on his sleeve and been chastised for it and said, “Yeah, I need to be better about that.” Or when CD Lamb says, “No egos in Dallas.” Is he talking straight to George Pickkins?
