No, Packers WR Jayden Reed is not upset

What’s going on, Packers fans? Aaron Negler here on a uh Tuesday morning. I have my coffee here because I’ve been reading a lot of folks here on the internet. Packers fans being very upset at Jaden Reed because he’s complaining about the drafting of Matthew Golden and upset that he’s not considered wide receiver one and all sorts of suppositions because of a tweet that Adam Shfter put out yesterday. I’ll throw it up here for you guys. You’ll see it if you haven’t seen it yet. I’m sure you have. Most Packers fans that are online have it. Reads, “Packers GM Brian Gudikens met last week with Jaden Reed’s agent Drew Rosenhouse to clarify the wide receivers status in Green Bay after the team drafted Matthew Golden and Savon Williams. The team said it will not affect Reed’s status as its top receiver per source.” Now, you don’t have to draw too bright a line to understand that this is Drew Rosenhouse putting this out there. And I’ve seen a lot of people asking why would he do this or why would he want this out via shfter etc. I think the most important thing to understand here is Drew Rosenhouse is Jaden Reed’s agent as of very recently. Um I know David Cananter pretty well going back a couple years now and he had been Reed’s agent up until even a couple weeks before the draft. That I know for sure. So, I’m not sure when this switch occurred, but this is the first I’ve heard of it that Jaden had switched agents to Drew Rosenhouse. And clearly, this is Drew flexing his muscles a little bit, saying, “Stick with me, kid. I can move the needle with the media and getting the message out there that you’re the Packers top guy.” Now, I do not doubt for a moment that Brian Gutst and Drew Rosenhouse had a conversation, but I do doubt that Brian Gudikunst at any point said, “Oh, yeah, Jaden Reed’s our top receiver. he’s our number one. Certainly doesn’t sound like something Brian Gutens would say. I have no doubt he did reiterate how important Jaden is to them and how the organization feels about him. And I think that’s a pretty important point also that if you look at how the tweet is worded, I saw a lot of people jumping to conclusions immediately casting it in the light that Jaden Reed was complaining, which it’s not. It’s Brian Gudakens being proactive, knowing that they have drafted two receivers and understanding that that might ruffle some feathers in the locker room and with the current receiving group. And he reached out to Drew Rosenhouse to discuss Jaden Reed. And he most likely did that with some other agents as well who didn’t put it out there publicly. But again, this is Drew showing his new client. I can move the needle with the media. Just watch me. And it’s funny because I put out my response to this on Twitter as well and a couple hours later I had a text from someone inside 1265 Lombardi asking, “Have you talked to someone?” Because this is exactly it. Spot on. And no, I haven’t talked to anybody, but it makes the most sense if you just, you know, draw a line, connect the dots, so to speak. But I do want Packers fans to take a breath here because it’s not Jaden Reed complaining in any way, shape, or form. And as we’ve talked about a lot here on this channel all throughout the offseason already, the competition is a good thing. The fact that Jaden Reed dropped as many balls on third down as he did last year is reason enough for him to refocus heading into 2025. But now the fact that there are two young buck wide receivers coming after him. Yeah, hopefully that faments mower competition more focus on the gig and gets him to the heights that the Packers expected in year two and hopefully that arrives in year three. Um, I did just want to kind of put this out there because I understand it’s an emotional thing. Each and every offseason when any headline hits, Packers fans instantly are all in on every bit of news. This is a kind of weird way of delivering the fact that yeah, Brian Gutakun is being proactive. And as Corey, my co-founder here at Chadet TV, pointed out yesterday, if you’re a general manager, as Brian Goodust is, and you’ve seen this type of thing fester and become a problem in the past or in other organizations, yeah, you want to get on top of it. You want to be proactive. That’s a good thing. It’s a very good thing that Brian Gutinst is trying to get ahead of this kind of thing. Um, and I’m sure when he did talk to Drew Rosenhouse, he probably understood that there was a decent chance that Drew was going to put something out there. Um, again, I don’t see a bad guy in this situation. I understand the angles. Uh, but I did want to kind of cast some light into what is happening here instead of having Packers fans freak out about another drama with another player on the green and gold, which this most certainly is not. So, that’s all there is to say about that. Please uh hit like on this video, subscribe to the channel, and then tell your friends and tell your family. Gadet TV.

  1. We are the Packers, we are a Team. we are noted as having the best squads, not the best player. this is all Bears Fake News LOL.

  2. Wr room needs to be nervous after all those drops and wrong routes run last season. Especially Reed and Wicks having 17 combined. And most of those drops were on third and fourth down. They shouldn't feel comfortable and need to be competing if they aren't setting the standard. If you produce you have nothing to be worried about.

  3. Schefter is a professional shit-stirrer and should be treated as such. Rosenhaus is doing his job, it's what agents do – they look out for the interests of their clients.

  4. I think this is a nothing burger. But…even if he is upset, i dont care. i dont care if any of the WRs are upset. every single one of them are upset. all of them had every chance to take a step and be the lead horse and all of them failed. yes they all made big plays at times but none of them were consistent especially in the big games. gutey saw it and said "we need depth and to get better, one WR on PUP, one on expiring contracts and 2 that struggled we need to address it". Competition is never a bad thing. I could care less if theyre mad

  5. If Jayden Reed wasn't concerned, then his agent wouldn't have been in a meeting with the GM. Bottom line is that the draft of Golden/Savion put all the cards in the hands of the GM/front office. That means the pressure is fully on Reed/Doubs/Wicks to perform and knock off the drops.

  6. There should be a lot of competition and fires put under players who under performed. If we are being realistic with Jayden and Wicks, they accounted for a lot of conversion down drops that include 3rd and 4th down last year. I am sure they are both very aware of it as well and realize that it was the prime component in why the passing game was underwhelming last year. If not for the rushing attack either then our offense could've easily been bottom fourth of the league or something like that.

  7. Gutey can tell Reed's agent that "adding Golden and Savion does not change how they view Reed, he is one of our most accomplished WRs in this young group and his role will continue to be crucial as our slot WR" and that can be easily be truthful and insignificant at the same time. With Watson out and Doubs having concussions and a team absence/suspension, they both have a lot more to worry about. Golden can stretch the field like Watson can. And make contested catches/get open downfield like Doubs can. And reportedly people think he can be a boundary WR. Golden is not being drafted in 1st round to come in and be a slot WR by design, he is here to push for X WR snaps, WR1/2 snaps. This is a nothing burger because it is not only true, and unsurprising, but it is also insignificant because "the top WR on this team last year" was Reed playing 60% of snaps on average and as low as single-digit snaps in some games, as the slot WR gets phased in and out of gameplans. You could view this as Gutey saying "Reed will have every opportunity to lead this room again", and that can be true but at any point they can run 12 personnel for an entire game, or Watson could come back and Reed could have a string of bad games with drops and suddenly he's barely playing again. Or worse, he could get dinged up and Savion comes in and starts taking a bunch of his snaps. Or Golden could start taking slot snaps if Watson and Doubs/Wicks explode. Nothing is guaranteed and all this confirms is that Reed is a 60% snap, slot WR, who will start the season as the slot in 11 personnel. And this shouldnt shock anyone, as Golden will likely start the season as starting X or Z, or sharing snaps with Doubs/Wicks.
