Dallas Stars Miro Heiskanen & Mikael Granlund Post Game Interview (Rd 2 Game 4 vs Winnipeg)

Kyle, when we chatted, you said that you were so excited to be part of Dallas’s team because they had an actual chance to win. Tonight, you singlehandedly get this team a win and now the series is 3 to1 over the Jets. I mean, how do you feel and knowing this team has progressed into the playoffs like it has? Yeah, it’s been um good so far. Obviously, the is not done. We have a lot of work to do. So, um, you know, that was a good win and, you know, we have a tough game ahead of us in Winnipeg. So, let’s get ready for that one. Mero, um, how do you assess returning after missing so much time, especially being in a playoff intensity game like this? And how are you feeling? Um, I mean, just try to be smart. uh you know, play short shifts and and make single uh simple plays at the at the beginning there and just uh try to be be smart and you know, handle handle the pressure pressure well. But you know, it’s a it’s a long time to um you know, between between the last game, but it’s um it was fun to be back and you know, guys helped me out there pretty pretty well, so it’s it was it was good. Hey, Miro over here. Jeff Gold, Fox, Dallas. Um, Liam Bishell was just saying how you went through so much behind the scenes trying to get back. How hard was it to go through these last hundred some odd days trying to get back and how rewarding to finally get back? Um, yeah, it’s it’s hard for sure. It’s uh you never want to miss miss any time. Uh, you know, you want to be playing, but it’s um you know that’s stuff happens in in this sport and it’s u something you have to deal with it. But it’s uh you know just try to try to stay positive and and work hard and you know guys did a great job to beat Colorado and and uh I had a chance to come back and be playing again. So yeah it’s uh of course frustrating to watch the games and be out but it’s u you know great to be back now. Michael, were you uh aware from your pre-cout that Halleuck has allowed a few goals like the first one that you scored uh tonight and maybe you could just talk us about your mindset as you were carrying the puck in the zone. Uh honestly no cool shooting it somewhere and one hit. So, um, obviously we we go through a little prec, but um, you know, you just tried to find a hole and and, um, uh, was lucky when Miro, the new faces on this team, obviously you’ve gotten to know these guys pretty well and the guy to your left, hat-tick tonight and getting to play with Mo extended time here tonight as well. What can you say about finally getting on the ice with these guys in a playoff environment? Yeah, it’s fun. Fun for sure. It’s uh you know like you said first time to play with these guys here. So it’s uh you know great to have have them both and it’s um you know obviously great players and important pieces of our team and it’s you know was fun to finally be be on the ice with them. Hey Mel, uh what was it like when the injury happened? I mean we saw it and it just like I don’t know if you’ve ever been through anything like that but it looked pretty alarming and then how do you recover from that just mentally? Um yeah, I mean it wasn’t fun for sure. It’s uh you know that hurts but it’s um uh something that happens in this sport. It’s just um unfortunate thing and you know you just have have to go through it and you know like I said earlier try to be be positive and you know work hard and and get back. It’s just uh things like that happen and and um I’m glad I’m back now and and back playing. Yeah. Mero, if you can get out there with Essa and these guys are going to have team Finland going the whole way, what’s that going to be like? Uh yeah, it’s going to be fun for sure. It’s uh that would be nice. Maybe next game at some point, but yeah, we’ll see if they if they put put us together there, Mle. What did you ever think about passing to Roe on that two-ey wonder? Were you shooting the whole way? Um yeah, when you when you pass all the time, you know, you can surprise the goalie maybe once in a while to shoot the puck. So, uh yeah, I mean um third D he went down there, so I didn’t really have a passing lane. So, um you know, um found a spot in the the top corner there. So, yeah. Um you know, it’s good to shoot every once in a while. It wasn’t long ago we were saying, you know, with Nico doing what he was doing, you guys needed to get your depth going. That’s clearly happened the last couple games. What do you think you guys have done to get get the depth scoring going? Yeah. Um, I mean, obviously, Nico, uh, he’s been playing in such a incredible level. Um, and I’m I’m sure he’s going to keep doing that, but obviously we we need some help and and um and you know um hopefully in the in the next game it might be someone else, but all that matters is trying to uh get these wins and uh and advance. So that’s all we can think about. Thanks, guys. We’ll do coach

  1. As a certified Finn, I can swear these lads would rather be in The Winter War than being in the focus of attention. Of course they have gone past the rally-English -phase but still, too much attention is THE last thing especially Finnish men want. Play, train, win, very cool but this…
Miro is smiling, which is an un-Finnish thing to do, so I deduct he must be on drugs which help him play after injury or something. Unlikely but possible explanation might be that he´s happy to be able to play again, but smiling would still be quite an extreme reaction to a Finn.
