D-backs manager pulls switcheroo on umps in ejection of the year 🤣 | MLB on ESPN

Collision at second. Well, that’s interference. That’s Bob Bell’s going to come out and find out the health of his player. And that’s absolutely interference. He’s right in front of him. He stepped into him. I mean, one of the umpires must have seen that. Well, Matt Williams saw it. He’s going over right now. They’re going to find out, hey, what’s going on? They’re going to go right to Edwin Jimenez. [Music] LL is probably saying, “Well, why didn’t he stop at second?” Well, that really doesn’t matter. I mean, Lawler, the second baseman who came in last inning, and that was always been tossed. I think he just tossed the entire umpire c through going to try and calm him down. Ain’t going to [Applause] happen. So the best of all worlds. Number one, cost is okay. Number two, it is an interference call. And because of that point you make about an extra base. [Music]

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo played the UNO reverse card and gestured tossing the entire umpire crew after an furious reation to his play.

  1. Cant w8 til tech replaces umps. Hate obvious 💩 like this!! Also they bs stike/ball calling is what puts players into hitting slumps.

  2. Announcers think "it's absurd that the umpires don't know the rules" when the announcers don't know the rules. But announcers not knowing rules is not absurd, it's the norm. Anyway, this was type 2 obstruction which U2 did not see but U3 appears to be telling Lovello "I pointed" which is the correct mechanic. What didn't happen is U3, at the end of playing action, coming in and calling time and announcing the obstruction and awarding any bases he thought the runner should have which in this case is keeping him at 2B.

  3. It's called obstruction, not interference. It may be they judged that the runner was trying to draw the call depending on where the ball was at the time. Tough call/no call – but it must have been correct since BOTH managers wanted something.

  4. Why was the D-backs manager upset? His player was the one obstructing the runners advance? Did the Giants player get to go to third base? I have no idea why this manager was mad his team was in the wrong.

  5. All humor aside though, I truly believe teams need to band together and boycott the MLB until they either completely disband the ump union, work with them on a compromise that allows umps to be fired and/or fined due to poor performance, allow coach challenges against ump calls, or they incorporate robot umps and just get rid of human umps all together.
