POPE is a White Sox fan?
The Pope is a White Sox fan. Pope Leo I 14th, formerly Robert Francis Praos, is a diehard White Sox fan, not a Cubs fan. Despite the confusion, the first US-born Pope, grew up in Chicago, where his dad rooted for the Cardinals, which makes this even better. If you told him back then his son would be a Cardinal, he probably would have thought you meant St. Louis, not the Vatican. Long before the papacy, he was Father Bob, a regular on the Southside who went to game one of the 2005 World Series and even showed up on the Fox broadcast. He attended with close friend Ed Schmidt, whose family always said he’d be Pope one day. Turns out they were right.
