Dallas Stars won the MOST EXCITING game of the NHL Playoffs 🔥 | SportsCenter
An elimination game six between the Jets and Star that meant much more to Mark Shley on the ice. Learned about the passing of his father on Friday. Still went out to play on Saturday in game six. Shley scored a goal to open this one. But chasing down brings Steel down and given a tripping penalty here. The Stars head to a power play that will continue in overtime. Tied at one. Now we’re in OT. Tyler Sean passed it from behind the net to Thomas Harley who one times it in for the goal. Here’s Josh Bogarad on 96.7. The ticket with the call there behind the net. Sean Harley shot. He scores. He does it. Thomas Harley a power play goal. The Stars are going back to the Western Conference final for the third straight year. What a way to end the series. Stars player go over to hug Shley after the game. An emotional match up for them. Our guys Steve Levy and Mark Messier with more on what’s ahead. Hey everybody, good morning with Mark Messier. I’m Steve Levy. Are you a morning person? Cuz I’m not really a morning guy. I’m whatever time it needs to be. Yes, you are, Mr. All Day and all night. Uh, Mess, can we agree that game last night in Dallas was the best game of the Stanley Cup playoffs so far? I think it was. And you’d think of like a 1-1 game through most of it. 2-1 game in overtime, but there were a lot of chances. There was a lot of physicality, great goalending on both sides. Uh, you think about the referees not playing a part in a game. Well, they played a big part in this game by letting let the players decide the game on the ice. Tremendous job by the offici by the officials. They should be congratulated on letting the players play. Franis St. Laurent and Dan Rock. We’ll give him the name mentions. So for Mark Shley, I’m sure you heard the story by now. His dad passed away, got the news yesterday and elected to play last night. He scores a goal in the game. Amazing. The only goal. And then he winds up taking a penalty by the way leading to the goal. But that’s the point. Nobody shot. Absolutely not. It’s a great penalty. Dallas probably wins in regulation. He had to take him down. He had to take the penalty to save the the breakaway. So, no no no harm, no foul there. So, on the only power play of the game in overtime. Take a look. Thomas Harley is going to wind up ending this for Dallas. Yeah. And and you know, Sean once again, the veteran player there, makes a tremendous play. Knows he’s there from the time he gets a puck and even before he gets a puck and hardly makes no mistake. You can see that Helabuk had no chance on this great he completely screwed shot. Never did see the puck come off his stick with just a hope that it was going to hit him at that point. But Dallas played a great series. They got a great team. They’re disciplined. They got great goalending. Maybe some of the best goalending in the in the in the playoffs so far and they’re and they’re very well coached and they play a disciplined game and they’ll be experienced now. This will be their third consecutive trip to the Western Conference Finals. They’re set to take on the Oilers. Meanwhile, tonight in game number seven in hockey crazy Toronto, the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. What are you anticipating there? Oh, just it’s going to be a great game. And I have to give all the credit in the world to Craig Buby. The way he handled the game in in Toronto in game five. He didn’t sell his players under the bus. He didn’t sell them out at all. He believed in Austin Matthews would score a big goal at the right time. And sure enough, he does here in the in the dying moments of this game. He scores a big one- nothing goal for the Toronto Maple Leafs to take the lead. They don’t look back. Uh game six is like we talked about earlier, it’s not easy to win at home. Florida’s spent a lot of effort and emotional and physical effort trying to get back in this series, trying to win games four and five to get back in it. They looked a little spent to me in game six. Obviously, Toronto after game five, they had to come in and throw everything at at them. They did. They got the two nothing win and we’re on to game seven. All right. And the winner of that game, Toronto, Florida, will take on the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference final. Meanwhile, the Western Conference final, Edmonton and Dallas, will debut game number one Wednesday night on ESPN. We’ll see you for those intermissions. Have a great day. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everybody. Thanks so much, guys. The Panthers and Maple Leaf recent game sevens have looked very different. Florida has won their last two game sevens dating back to 2023, including last year’s Stanley Cup final. Meanwhile, Toronto has lost six straight game sevens, including five in the last seven years. There’s another loss on Sunday which tied the Colorado Avalanche for the longest losing streak in game seven in Stanley Cup playoffs history.
ESPN NHL Analyst Mark Messier joins Steve Levy on SportsCenter to react to the Dallas Stars defeating the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 in Game 6 to advance to the Western Conference Finals of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Then, they preview Game 7 between the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Crazy thing is a lot of the NHL commentators on ESPN clearly just do their assigned games and are not NHL fans that watch it on a regular basis. The lack of knowledge is often very eye-opening. 👀
Many times they can't even pronounce their names. Harley has been scoring OT goals with regularity for a couple of years now.
Edmonton vs Dallas is gonna feed families no doubt.
Let me fix your title: "Dallas won the most depressing game of the playoffs"
Dallas winning with Schifelle in the box proves there are no hockey gods.
Did Jaimie Benn give an extra condolences after the cheap shot the other night? I personally cannot wait for him to retire. He is one of the few players I believe truly is out there trying to injure other players.
Oilers are going to steamroll the stars.
I wish espn didn't exist.
Hockey is cool but that network is backwards and has been for at least a decade
Whoever wins the Edmonton Dallas series , is going to win the Cup 🚨
That's a tough call on the last penalty. What's done is done, but given the weight of the moment, the refs seem to always steal the show, sometimes at suspect times. He lifted his stick and then the Stars' player tripped on himself. Anyway, congrats. Go Oilers.
Mark Messier ages way slower than us mer mortals.
There have been way more exciting games in the playoffs 😂

Figures this series ends on a ref mistake. Should have been a penalty shot, not the only PP of the game… But even so, this was probably the best reffed game, and I think thats because both teams didnt want to cross the line given the situation with Scheif, compared to what Benn did to the guy at the end of game 5… Hence the officials were just given less of an opportunity to make garbage nonsense decisions… But still fitting all the same it ends on a wrong decision.
This game was rather boring. Weak offensive play all around.
Stars Cats in the Finals…
My ❤️ goes out to the Scheifele family. God bless 🙌 🙏
Go Stars 🌟
Calling this the most exciting game of the playoffs is wild …
Oiler fans are pretty cocky in the comments. Guess it was the la kings and the vegas golden knights that were the top of the western conference that they beat and the Stars got lucky by beating the botoom feeders in the avalanche and the jets.
