This was heartbreaking to watch

just courageous, you know, what he did tonight. You know, his dad would have been really proud of him and and what he did. Man, this one was tough. The Winnipeg Jets, who had a shockingly great year. President’s Trophy winners. They had that remarkable comeback in game seven of round one. One of the best moments of these playoffs, have officially seen their season come to an end. But watching this game last night, it was especially heartbreaking to see Mark Shiffley. News broke before the game of Brad Shley’s passing, Mark’s father. And so it was already emotional, but super special to see him out there during warm-ups to begin with. But even more so, after the Stars came out in the first and were all over the Jets, who bent but never broke. Seen missing a wide open net here. The Jets weathered the storm and found their game in the second. Eers first with a great chance, but on a delayed penalty, none other than Mark Schiffley would find the rebound in front to open the scoring. Opens the five hole. And what a beautiful moment. You almost felt this was coming when he decided to play. It had all the same feelings of when Marty St. Louis scored on Mother’s Day in game six against the Penguins back in 2014, just days after his mother passed. There’s just something special about a goal like this. But having said that, not 6 minutes later, a rebound and the Stars would find a goal themselves. Sam Steel with his first of the playoffs beats Hellabuk to even things up. And from there on out, thanks to a Team USA goalie duel between the pipes. That’s where we stayed for the remainder of regulation. Both of these goalies, Hellbuck and Auter, with some huge stops. There were several moments in the third I was in disbelief that the puck didn’t find the back of the net, but I will say the Jets seemed to be on their heels a bit towards the end. They lost Morsy with five to go in the second, which that did not look good. And down to five Dmen, the Stars came close to capitalizing on a fatigue Jets team more than once. And in the dying second, Steel now broke free and was tripped up by Shifley. And I don’t know, the Sportsnet panel discussed this. They felt it should have been a penalty shot, which I tend to agree with. In the regular season, I’d say this probably is. But I got to say, hats off to the officials as a whole. I thought they did good to let this game play out. But it was a twominute minor, which most of it carried over to overtime where despite the Jets killing all but 15 seconds of this penalty, Thomas Harley with the OT dagger would take it for Dallas. They will move on to the conference final for the third straight year. A huge congrats to them. a hell of a team. But as for Mark Schiffley, my heart just broke for him in that box. It was special to see Lowry come into the box to give him some love as man, what a tough tough day. It’s hard to go out like this. But what’s beautiful is the love the entire team and the Stars team gave him. It was one of the most emotional handshake lines you’ll ever see. You just got to love this game. But for the Jets, overall a fantastic season. A gutsy performance in these playoffs. Again, to come back like they did, battling through injuries, battling through the news of Shley’s father before this elimination game, there’s only so much a team can endure, but fighting the way they did, there’s nothing but respect. But yeah, again, congrats to the Stars. That’ll do it for this one. Thank you for watching, and I’ll see you in the next one.

The Winnipeg Jets had a shockingly great year. The best team all season, the Presidents Trophy winners, they had a remarkable comeback in game 7 against the Blues in round one these playoffs but, they officially saw their season come to an end last night against the Dallas Stars. While sad for Jets fans, it paled in comparison to the heartbreak hockey fans felt for Mark Scheifele beyond the game. Prior to puck drop, news broke of the passing of Marks father Brad putting into perspective how fragile life can be. Despite the news, Mark took the ice in honour of his father and gave the Jets a phenomenal performance even opening the scoring in the 2nd period. It was a special goal and special moment that he’ll never forget. Despite it, the Stars were great as well and tied the game shortly after. A great game for both goalies in Oettinger and Hellebuyck meant this game needed Overtime. With 15 seconds remaining in regulation though, Scheifele was called for tripping on Steel which gave the Stars a massive powerplay to begin OT. Harley scored the game winning and series winning goal with 15 seconds remaining on the powerplay as the Winnipeg Jets were officially eliminated. It was a heartbreaking scene as Scheifele was comforted by Lowry, his team and the Stars team as well in a beautiful handshake line moment. I cover it all and more in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. I really feel shcheife that is the one hardest thing to go through. The support from both sides of the ice really makes me see hockey players differently. I wishing him the best and God watches over his family and friends. 🎉😢.

  2. My dad was rewinding the game and showing us all how everyone hugged Scheifele at the end, it was pretty cool and touching, amazing how hockey players can almost kill each other on the rink and then everyone's brothers at the end when someone's hurting. Heartwarming.

  3. The Jets simply couldn't win on the road in this years playoffs, that is why they are now out of the post season. For whatever reason they couldn't generate offence on the road to save their season despite the heroics of Scheifle trying his darndest to will the Jets. So it was kind of cruel to see him in the penalty box to watch that game winner go in.

  4. I feel awful for the guy. Loses his dad, scores that goal, then is forced to take a necessary penalty just to have it end like that. Happy to see Benn take the extra time to talk to him, hopefully they squashed that beef.

  5. As a Jets Fan who also lost his father young, I feel his pain. We may have lost, but I cant even be mad. Much respect to the Dallas Stars and their Fan base. Class acts! Best Part of last nights game was the Handshake line.

  6. It’s not fair it’s disrespectful for Dallas to win after what happened to mark’s father. They needed to win for his dad it’s only fair. He can’t lose the series and his dad he deserved a better fate.

  7. Awe. Poor kid. Bet he feels somewhat responsible for the loss now too. Its not your fault buddy. Grieve and a new season is coming. Well done. Keep your chin up!

  8. Glorifying Scheifele's decision is a dangerous idea. The next guy to face a similar situation may not want to play. It's a personal decision.

I don't question Mark's decision one bit. It was exclusively his. However, we ought to treat it as just that, a personal decision, not paint it in either a positive nor negative light.

If someone wants to sit out in a situation like this, he shouldn't feel pressured to "live up" to what someone else chose to do.

  9. Much love to Schief and fam.

Yo, NMU, you're writing the next video at this moment. It's okay. Be as harsh as you feel you need to be. Not like I need to tell you that though.

  10. Imagine putting it all out there and your teammates hang you out to dry. No one showed up on the ice to support 55. Should have went home Mark the losers you’re surrounded by don’t have your desire to win.

  11. You can only imagine the conversations that Scheifele and his dad shared about hockey. The practices his dad must have driven him to for years. Watching his son get better and better, and knowing what the end goal was about. No doubt in my mind that his dad would have wanted him to give it his all. Thank you for raising an incredible son, sir. Mark is a hero to us all. 🙏

  12. I don't like the Jets cuz I'm a true blue Canucks fan. It really sucks that he is the reason they are knocked out of the playoffs after losing his dad.

  13. Mark Scheiflele's always been a dirty hockey player! Life happens to everyone! Big Deal! He shoulda been kicked out of the NHL years ago after that blindsided hit he made on a player after the Jets already lost the game! Glad he and the Jets lost! He's a jerk!
