Aaron Gordon on the playoff scheduling: “I would really, really appreciate it if there were a couple of days in between games in the playoffs instead of every other day. The product of the game would be a lot better. You’ll see a higher level of basketball. Probably less blowouts.”

  4. Is this the first time the scheduling has been this tight especially in the earlier rounds? I swear it was never like this before.

  5. In related news, the WCF starts on Tuesday (one day rest for OKC) while the Pacers and Knicks, who have already finished their series, doesn’t start until Wednesday.

    Make it make sense.

  8. A 7 game series every other day is 14 days, do we really need a 7 game series to go 3 weeks?

  9. To me, every other day is fine between two games in the same place. Any travel, though, it should be 2 days, a day for travel and a day for rest.

  11. Right but this is why you need better than Russ-Strawther as your only bench guys. MPJ playing like a bum. Murray taking every other game off. You can also play in neutral environments but playing without a ton of rest and in other opponents gyms is part of what makes you a champion. This isn’t the bubble.

  12. I been hearing this a lot, especially surrounding the Nuggets, and while he makes a good point about the quality of the games, my problem is that it’s bordering on excuses. Having a championship level starting 5 is great, but having depth is what you need. It’s not the Thunders fault that the Nuggets depth is crap and that they swept the first round and the Nuggets went to 7. If you don’t wanna gas out in the second round every year, get some depth and put in some more effort in the regular season to get a higher seed.

  14. Nah, two off days between games in the same damn city is stupid. If they’re traveling to the other city, sure – give them an extra day off, that makes sense. But in the same city, no travel required other than back to the hotel? Nah son, one day of rest is plenty. 

  16. The playoffs would also take 3 fucking months if this happened. Not sure how it is now, but there should only be one day off between games in the same city. Two days off when they travel to the other city to play.

  17. Hockey does 1 day in-between, an extra fay for travel, and then 1 in-between. There’s an extra rest day and off days in there sometimes but i think it works.

  20. They never should have made the first round a best of 7. Should have left it at 5. As much as I like the play-in, they can do without it as well.

  25. Until the players union says “the players are now willing to make less money” you’ll see fuck all happen on any of these topics. Scheduling is always money first
