Dallas Stars Winnipeg Jets Exchange Handshakes After OT Game 6

[Applause] as they line up to shake hands with the Dallas Stars who have eliminated the President’s Trophy winning Winnipeg Jets. It’s a painful scene on the jet side of thing and one of the greatest ceremonies in sports, the handshake at center ice at the end of the Stanley Cup playoff series. Man, amidst the highest of highs here, they go through the line and Shley greeted by Jamie Ben. Their story is much different than when they left the ice two nights ago at Canada Life Center. A long conversation. You imagine it’s going to be long with all of the stars, especially the next man up, Tyler Sean. Two very good friends off the ice. Just an unthinkable sequence for Shifley. Our continued condolences and thoughts to his entire family. How he played and played so well is just an epic storyline from that standpoint. And yet at the other end, here come the stars that make history here tonight and join a very exclusive group to go to three straight conference finals. And it will be a rematch of their most recent one with the Edmonton Oilers. They win both series so far here at home. the ranting in history making third period against Colorado and the Stars coming back against a club that you almost never come back against in the Winnipeg Jets for a 2-1 overtime win and another birth in the league’s final four. Well, these Jets had some things conspire against them. Obviously, the two goalenders are about to have a moment with each other. Hellabuk and Auter. A long conversation between the the two of them. Both were fantastic here in game six. You know that there have only been now 18 of 39 President Trophy winners that have made it to the conference final. Forget about beyond that. The last team to go on and win a cup was the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks. The Stars did it way back in 1999 when they went wallto-wall with it. Boy, everybody’s understandably taken their time with Shley. The coaching staff now it’s it just a a absolute gutting scene. His teammates are waiting for him down in the corner. At 24 hours he will want to forget but but never will. You know, life tests everybody. And I can’t believe the challenge that he had to try to get through and then to have it end in the manner that it did. So, the Jets head off to their dressing room as their season is done and Pete Dbor and the coaching staffs now he and Scott Arneal having a handshake and words with one another at center. This is going to be the seventh conference final that Dbor coaches in. And it’s interesting how they did it here tonight in a lot of ways, Josh, because, you know, their power play and special teams were such a tipper for them a lot. They didn’t have to kill a penalty here tonight. They played clean all the way through it. Their power play wins it in overtime. Their goalender outduck at the other end. man was Jake Break when the Jets took a a one- nothing lead in that second period. And they get a depth goal from from Sam Steel. That’s why they’re such a difficult team to beat whether it be individually in games or in a best of seven series. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
