Pete DeBoer FRUSTRATED After Stars Go Down 2-1 vs Oilers

We’ll start uh left side, second row. Nick, hey Pete, um you had the edge in shot attempts in the first period. It was lopsided in the second period, yet you’re down 3-1. Just how do you analyze that? Uh you know what I like I I mean obviously the third goal is a kind of back breaker at the end of the second period. I I I loved our game to that point. You know, I thought we carrying momentum. We were doing a lot of good things. um you know they they get that goal right at the end of the second period and you know it kind of bleeds in the third the third but uh you know there’s building blocks like I said there uh you know for us to uh start winning some of these games and uh you know I’m not as focused on the score as I am on our as I am on our game and uh you know we just got to keep building our game. Right side front row Mike. Hey Pete, how close was Rupe and what was the adjustment to that and how it how did the adjustments affect you guys? How close is Rupe? Was he in the game tonight? Well, I mean he tried to warm up but you know not No, he wasn’t close or or if he was close he probably would have played. Um well adjustments what you’re without your number one center. So you know but I thought our guys I give our guys credit. They they didn’t mail it in. They they showed up and and worked left side front row Tim. Yeah. And on the decision to play Jason there, he he hasn’t had a strong playoff. Did you think he was best option to try to get that line going? Robo. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I did. And you know what? It was his his best game. I think he ended up with five shots. I don’t know. Did he get credit for the goal for us? Yeah. So, and we need him, you know, we need we need that scoring out of him. We haven’t had it. Um there’s no doubt he’s a he’s been a step behind since he came back in. I thought tonight there was signs of him getting back up to speed and doing some of those things. So that that’s a good sign we need him. Stay in that same role. Leah. Hey Pete, last year it felt like there was kind of a point in the series where they grabbed it and kind of ran away with it. What makes this group maybe more equipped to push back? Yeah. Yeah. I’m I’m trying to think. you know, last last year, you know, I think we we left here 2-2, right? We lost game five was was the decide, you know, for me the deciding game in last year’s series. We came in here in game six and played a fantastic game. You know, probably deserve better. So, I think every series is different. Um, you know, we’ve just got to we don’t have to win three games in this building. We got to win one and win our home games. Right side, third row. Hey, Pete. Um to piggyback off of that, you know, the last couple years your team has been down in situations like this before. You know, Minnesota, Seattle 2-1 deficits, Vegas 20 last year. What does it take to rally back from that point? And do you see the similar kind of belief from those teams in this team? Yeah, I think there’s I think there’s belief in our room and uh you know, again, we we’ve for me if if uh you know, there’s there’s good signs in our game. So, you know, if we if we can keep bringing that game to the rink, um, you know, I like our chances of of coming back in this series. Left side, front row, Pierre. Pierre, Pete, uh, obviously there were some great A’s there against him, but what do you think of Jake’s play, uh, you know, in the series and tonight? Yeah. Um, you know, I I think well tonight, listen, I I I think, you know, we wouldn’t be here sitting here in the conference finals without Jake and how he’s played. You know, tonight was one of those games where uh you know, they were opportunistic and then once I they got the lead, you know, we’re we’re pushing to get back in and and there’s great A’s the other way. So, um, you know, one one thing I know about Jakeer for me, he’s he’s one of the best response goalies in the league, and you know, I I’m I know he’s not going to drag around tonight’s game. Right side fourth throw. Hey, coach, over the years, uh, the group has spoken about your calming effect in the locker room after performances like this. Will that be one of your messages is just for them to remain calm? Talk about that just a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean, I I think dep depending on the situation tonight, uh, you know, we’re without our number one center. We’re on we’re on the road here, uh, in a tough environment. I I thought we played, you know, a really good hockey game for a big stretch of that game. So, there’s nothing to get, you know, emotional or or upset about. I think I think you have to be realistic with your group. So, uh, I liked our compete tonight. I liked a lot of parts of our game and uh we’ve got to build on that and you know hopefully get Rupe Hens back and get back in the series. Anything else? Yeah, Pierre, wait for the microphone, will you please? Thanks. You may have said at the beginning, I apologize, but on Rupy, you know, you said he was game time. He doesn’t play as as dayto day or Yeah, I would call him dayto day. Yeah. Thanks, Peter.

  1. Oilers fan here… The breaks happen…Mikko self high stick… Puck over the glass non-call… Frederic into the net, no call, Brown headshot, no call…

    Yes, I know… Nurse on Hintz…no call.

Breaks and bounces are a real thing and does play a factor !!!

  2. Pete quit your crying about calls you got smoked 6-1 and let’s not kid ourselves this thing should be 3-0 if it weren’t for the debacle of game one by Edmonton and this thing should be over in one more game 4-0. FOOH

  3. Funny complaining about calls when you get the phantom Mikko self high stick, whoever’s stick that literally got stuck in an oilers player skate and trip him, boarding nuge, late hit on brown. Man up deboer

  4. The "reality" is this… on the road in the Playoffs Dallas has 10 Goals for and 28 Against. They escaped with a win on home ice Against Colorado… escaped with a win on home ice against Winnipeg… and escaped with a win in Game 1 on home ice against Edmonton. That's the reality Coach Deboer. If some is talking about how one likes the "building blocks" your team is establishing at this point in the Season… you are simply not good enough to beat Edmonton and you were somewhat fortunate to even beat the previous two teams you faced. Also… every team has a player injured this time of year.

  5. Lol this guy just wants all the morale victories 😂😂😂
"Not worried about the score so much as how we played" lol ok man go hug your morale victory lol

  6. Dallas has a very lazy style of play. They don’t hit, they don’t skate, they don’t compete. Edmonton will go to the final and lose to the Panthers’s in 6.

  7. Dallas Stars players must stop shooting strait to Winnepeg Jets goalies left hand glow side and start to shoot to the blocker side. Other thing is that Dallas Stars players must also do defence work better.

  8. Oilers don’t need to win any more games in Dallas to take the series, Oilers win game 4 and it’s all over in five or six.

  9. PDB's teams never win Cups because he doesn't know how to be that kind of coach. This Stars roster definitely has it in them to come back in the series and win it, but they just have to believe for themselves because Pete and Spott aren't helping them with that battle.

If they lose yet again, PDB should be let go and Alain Nasreddine should take over; he is ready to be a head coach.

  10. Ill be suprised if we dont get the dominotter in game 4. Always seems to show up when needed most. Also, Jamie Been needs stripped of the C. Doesnt score, doesnt fight, doesnt do much of anything most nights. Need a Hatcher type holding Captain spot. Lastly, someone needs to start being the dog of the team. Hyman with 100+ hits in the playoffs and 0 penalties is quite alarming. Also, the reffs need to quit being scared to call anything other than a high stick against the Oinkers. That shit is getting pretty pathetic.
