  3. I've said it before , I felt he was kind of a reach at 26. That being said, he definitely improved from 23 to 24 . Hopefully, he can make that leap from year 2 to 3. So , I guess the jury's out till further results come in .

  4. Mr.G Everyone in the NFC East has had or have better (DTs) than the (Dallas Cowboys) do since (2016) (N.Y.G.) Leonard Williams and Dexter Lawrence,(W.C.) Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne,and (P.E.) Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter the best (DT) that the Dallas Cowboys have drafted was in (1991) Russell Maryland they have to find someone out there (DJ) Reader are some thing keep up the very good work sir.

  7. Mazi will improve but not to the degree to meet the Cowboys' draft expectation. On another topic, interesting to see underdog WRs Cropper, Mingo, Paris catching balls, turning heads and QB Joe Milton looking slick @ OTAs.

  8. Ok if he isn't cutting the mustard but compared to DJ Reader then why would they want DJ Reader!! The position coach should see that scouting report and fix his issues, they keep getting DTs but maybe it is talent evaluation at that position! By now they should know what Mazi does well, or not so well, so stop asking him to do what he doesnt do well, and if they need a true 1 tech then get a true 1 tech, not a 2,3,4 tech whatever and try to get them to play 1 tech. At one point it was trash can full of dirt, then run stopper on the way to the QB, lose weight, gain weight. Ok well what do they want from the guy!

  9. I believe when it comes to Mazi Smith it’s all about coaching he’s going on his third coordinator in 3 years what he needs is to keep one coordinator for some years

  10. Mazi smith in the last 3 years has had 3 different consecutive DC changes. Quinn. Zimmer. Now Eberflus. That’s a lot of change for that guy. Not excusing his poor play. Just an observation. Need this DC to get it right. Or yeah, Mazi is what we all fear, a bust.

  15. Let me be the first to say as of following his career …. Big G Big G the greatest factor person on radio hell TV ….. mazi is going to be monster…. He will be a pro bowler this year ….. mazi always takes 3 years to develop …. Cowboys hired the right defensive coordinator… look back when at Michigan…. Same defense and you couldn’t stop him …. His bigger with muscles wide …. Big G we will have this decision soon…….. 5/26/25 lawman

  19. It’s true Mazi has had 3 different DC. BUT! He’s a grown ass man. You don’t need people to tell you what your job is at your position. And in 3 years he hasn’t showed me enough. I just don’t think he’s NASTY enough. We need an Animal at that position. I think he’s a moma’s boy. Not Mean enough .

  23. Mazi is and has been a bum from NFL pick. Absolutely no confidence this will a “new” Mazi Smith. This guy was never better than a 6th. The Cowboys are definitely wrong about him. This is not is year 1! This is year 3!

    2 to 3 yrs to develop, yeah

    But here's the dilemma…
    If players like Mazi, and even as regarding Guyton, have been stifled by ineptness at the NFL coaching level…
    How do Dallas, or another franchise for that matter,,,
    How do they assess properly, the player from erroneous coaching in deciding whether to switch positions, demote, or cut ties altogether?

    This falls squarely on management from and of the FO
    Hence, Jerry Jones, for poor choices of coaching and/or faulty acquisitions

    Either we're drafting bad players
    Or
    We're drafting good players that coaching has failed

    And tbf
    Without saying just which,,,
    It CAN at times, ACTUALLY be a bit of both,

    We need a DJ Reader-type regardless to better mentor and motivate these 2 to 3 yr developmental players

    This will allow us time to develop and/or go back to the drawing board

    But competent coaching is necessary to avoid WASTE
    Wasted time, talent and SB windows for our franchise players

    For, far too much has been lost/wasted under both, the Garrett and McCarthy regimes
    AGAIN, Jerry Jones is ultimately responsible
