Cleveland Cavaliers: Donovan Mitchell Stunned, Says No MORAL VICTORY For Cavs — ‘Let The City Down’
Hey, what do you feel like this series came down to? Um, they’ve been there. We had some mental lapses. um they capitalized and those can change a series. You lose game one, you’re chasing a series. Game two happens chasing and you give a lot of energy game three and then game four like you know find the uphill battle against a team that has the fastest pace in league history. Um, yeah. I saw that you went back out on the court a little bit after the final buzzer. What was going through your mind at that point? What were you trying to process? Just couldn’t believe it. Um, didn’t want to believe it. Don’t want to believe it. Still don’t want to believe it. It’s tough. It’s tough to win this league. Give them credit. We didn’t do the things necessary. I love playing in that arena, man. Like that energy, that crowd. We’re owning three at home, you know? Let the city down, man. That’s This place is special. This place is really special. And we didn’t get it done, Chris. I guess especially at home that’s what hurts, you know. Um yeah, I mean just feel like for us we had a lot of positives, a lot of but you know I told you during the year we’re going to be judged off this. There going to be a lot of talk. It’s what comes with it. And we’ve we didn’t capitalize. Um, so now we got to use this as motivation. Everybody’s going to write us off. Everybody in here, I mean, it’s not personal. So, what are we going to do about it next year? And um, yeah. black and white, but considering that you guys had a 64 win season last year, do you view this year as a success? Um, we took a step in the right direction, but we didn’t win a championship and we didn’t complete the end goal. So, no, there’s no moral victories here. Um, we just didn’t get the job done. There’s really nothing else to be said. Sorry. Go ahead. Go ahead. What do you think needs to happen between right now? I’m going to be um I just feel like this is a lesson. Um like I said, winning is winning is tough. You got to be willing to damn near die out there on the floor. Um not to say we weren’t. Um but for a full 48 minutes on a consistent basis, you got to be that desperate. um can’t have little mistakes. I can’t get a steal and get momentum, go behind my back knowing everybody’s behind me and lose the ball and give the ball right back to him. You know what I’m saying? I can’t not Tyrese has hit four threes. I can’t not switch up. He hits a three from the logo. Like changes the game. I can’t miss three free throws. Like I don’t give a damn how tired. I don’t give Here we are. Like you know what I mean? Um, yeah. Toughness isn’t just physical. There’s a bunch of different components of it. Mental, emotional, physical is part of it. When you look at this group, do you think this group is tough enough as a collective? Yeah. I think I think the biggest thing is I mean, I’ve been doing this eight years and I’ve been in the same round eight years. Um, these things aren’t easy. Just when you think you’re gotten somewhere, there’s another level. You know what I’m saying? And I think to Danny’s point, like to Danny’s question, like we took a step, wasn’t we didn’t take two, we took one. Um, and getting beat down like this and y’all are going to write some about us, man. And that’s going to be fuel. Like, you know, fuel for everybody. Y’all gonna say a lot of Y’all are. And that’s what it takes. I’ve been here. So, I understand. We understand. And now we just got to use it as fuel for next year. Do you think there’s any do you think this team lost a little rhythm between the Miami series, the week layoff and slow start in this series? I think game one set the tone. I don’t think it was damn near the same week we had before we played Miami. Um, game one set the tone and obviously guys are out game two and like I said, you’re fighting an uphill battle. Um, it’s a different pace. It’s a different, you know, it’s different. Um, so I don’t think it was a rhythm. I think we just No, I don’t think we got out of rhythm. Last one. Cam talked about the core and keeping this unit together. There was a lot of questions and you guys stayed confident in it. Is that something you go to bat for keeping this team as a whole? I go to bat for every guy in that locker room like willing to die out there for those guys. We are for each other. Um I mean we get so like winning is not easy. Some things have to go right. So, you got to play well. You know, you got to capitalize on opportunities. Like, you know, I’m obviously, you know, you you you look at around the league like it’s just, you know, you got to capitalize and um we have a window with this group. I believe in everybody in here. Um we believe in each other. That’s what sucks, man. It’s just we’re a good team and for five, four games, three games, we didn’t show, you know, what we’re capable of. And ultimately, that’s what we’re judged on. So, get in the gym, weight room, nutrition, whatever the hell it is, and get back at it, cuz y’all going to write us the off, man. But we’ll be back. We let s city down, letting each other down. We’ll be back. Think on.
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell meets with the media after the team’s disappointing 114-105 Game 5 defeat and series loss to the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.
A completely shocked Mitchell passionately made it clear how much he loves his team and the city of Cleveland. He also vehemently vowed that the wine-and-gold “will be back” in the playoffs at this stage again and move further.
Mitchell finished with 35 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, an assist and a block.
The Cavs have lost in the Eastern Conference semifinals in five games in back-to-back seasons.

Love Donovan man, he wants it , but just haven’t be able to deliver
, so sad to see them go down like this , hopefully good time comes
Love and Appreciate Don. But, this is Evan Mobley team. Everybody needs to realize the ball needs to be in Mobley & Allen's hands most. They are the highest efficiency players on the team. In playoff scenarios, you need to score in the most efficient way. Joker is averaging 40 because his shots are right at the rim. Gotta play inside/out because small guards are not dependable in the playoffs, they get hurt and miss shots…
We have David Robinson and Tim Duncan on our team, and we keep ignoring them. In a closeout game at home, Mobley/Allen shoot 12/18 66%, Garland/Mitchell shoot 12/41 29%. THIS MAKES NO SENSE! They are both hurt, and still manage to shoot 41 shots… If you play this style, you deserve to lose!
Too much celebrations by Cavs players, including Mitchell. Struss is trash. Go Pacers, the most underrated team…
Cleveland thrash without bron…
You didn't let us down, the rest of the team did.
Donovan Mitchell you have to get the ball out of your hand quicker. Force the ball inside to your big guys. Allen and Mobley.
If we was the Lakers the narrative would be totally different but I understand we are a small market team so it will always be we suck everybody was right but knowing damn well our All-Star point guard was out there looking like he was 35 years old was shit up his ass
Im pissed😮
Well, he better believe it. Saying it once is fine. But repeating it so many times is throwing shade at the Pacers. (It's almost like he is saying he can't believe they lost to the Pacers of all teams.) I'm sure it is hard to lose. But give the Pacers a lot of credit. They are in the NBA Finals AGAIN…just like last year. Nobody likes playing the Pacers. They have a DEEP bench and play an up-tempo style that wears teams down. That's why they can come back even if they are down by double digits.
Waste of a good season
if its mobly team where is he ?
Give this man some credit for the insane efforts he puts on …. Keep believing in yourself Donovan, I'm sure you'll win championships. You're special dude, success will become natural for you. Thank you for the emotions.
Naw. One assist. One. Go away, mr superstar and take all the bums that know nothin about chips wid you
I'm very proud of you all. But this team as constructed won't get it done.
The Cavs brought all their talent, …but the Pacers brought their talent AND brought their AZZ – big difference!
answer: REBUILD THE BENCH!
That’s why you need to be HUMBLE.
You guys taught you were invincible, you started acting like that.
Arrogant, flexing, acting tough ….
A lot of bla, bla, bla, silly faces and more.
To lose at the end.
That’s why they writing a lot of 💩.
You started it all.
Overrated his team never live up to expectations in the playoffs they need a better player
