This Was A TOTAL DISASTER For The Dallas Stars

Over the last two games, this NHL goalie is averaging a 982 save percentage and a 050 goals against average. Do you know the answer? And I’ll give you 10 seconds to guess. It’s Steuart Skinner. Stewart Skinner. I can’t figure this guy out. One game he’s allowing six to seven goals and looks like the worst goalie in the playoffs to the next game blanking some of the league’s best players. The guy has me in a blender trying to figure out what type of goalie he is. Well, from the top you can probably tell that I’m talking Stars versus Oilers today. And boy oh boy was this game three fantastic. McDavid, Hyman, and Skinner lead the Oilers to a 6-1 victory over the Stars on their home ice, giving the Oilers a two to one series lead heading into game four. Now, let’s get this out of the way early because I’ve already seen some of the discourse online and I know if you’re a Dallas fan, you’re typing in the comments, “The officiating was trash. They blew so many calls, yada yada yada.” And to be fair, I do agree that there were a few blown calls here. And maybe a power play or a man advantage opportunity could have given Dallas some momentum, but when you get blown out six to one, you just got to take this loss on the head and move on to game four. And the result of this game probably wouldn’t have changed even if you got some kind of call from the officials. So, we’re going into game four. The reality is the Oilers won this one. So, just chalk it up as a bad night from the officials and let it go. I will say I don’t really agree with the whole Rupe Hints thing though because I do believe that this had an impact on game three because he didn’t play. So I am with you on that one Dallas fans if that makes it a little bit better. Now most people are saying that this game was a beatdown and while the Oilers did dominate in goals, I actually think that Dallas played a pretty well-rounded hockey game and quite honestly maybe their best of the series so far. Unfortunately, they just couldn’t bury one past a hot goalie which happens from time to time. So today, let’s break down this series so far, who played better, who needs to play better, and answer the question of this video. Who needs to win this series more, Dallas or Edmonton? So, let’s start with game one. Heading into the series, there was a lot of uh mixed feelings about how this one would go. Most people believe that these teams are pretty even on paper, but I think Edmonton was actually favored because they were the ones who beat Dallas last year in six games. Now, the end of this game was a masterclass by the Dallas Stars who put on a clinic. They had five goals in the third period with three consecutive off the power play to come back after being down 200. Tyler Sean scored twice and had an assist. Mero Heiskinan and Male Granlin each had a goal and an assist. And Jakeer made 24 saves with the Dallas Stars taking a 1-0 lead in this series and winning the game 6 to3. Now, my big takeaway from game one was the superstars or just the top players showing up for Dallas. And in games two and three, we just haven’t seen a lot of production from them. Nico Rantin was hot in rounds one and two, but has kind of fizzled off at this point. Jason Robertson hasn’t had a real impact. He didn’t even know that he scored the stars only goal yesterday, which was kind of funny to watch. Why Johnston has popped up at different areas, but hasn’t really been a gamecher. And you’re getting more production from guys like Tyler Sean who missed a lot of hockey this year and is still looking like their best player outside of Rantin at different points. I think this is going to be a key for this series because the Oilers are getting production from their best players. McDavid, Dry Settle, Heyman, Bousard, they’re all stepping up when the Oilers need him most where Dallas, they’re not really getting that from their top producers. And I think that that’s going to be a big thing to pay attention to heading into game four. Now, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. We’re going to backtrack to game two. Stuart Skinner and the Oilers defense were all over Dallas’s forward group in this one, making zone entries very difficult and blocking most of their chances. Now, the notable thing from these two matchups versus game one was the discipline from Edmonton. When the Oilers play within their limits and stop taking stupid penalties, they somehow manage to keep their opponent on edge. And typically, this just results in more convincing wins. The Oilers have been crushing the Stars in 5v5 play, and this not only showed up in games two and three, but I think it’s going to show up in this series a lot more because of Dallas’s lack of scoring from their top players. Now, I know I keep harping on this, but I do think it’s really important to point out here, we have a team that arguably has three lines that could be a top line for any NHL team. because I firmly believe that Dallas has the deepest forward core in the NHL right now. Going up against an Oilers team who while underrated doesn’t have the same talent within their forward core outside of McDavid and Dry Settle to really compete with the Stars and what they have going for them. So to see them not only get blanked in game two but only score one goal in game three is starting to feel more like a coaching issue more than anything else. I think that Dbor is one of the best coaches in the NHL, but he has a hard time winning in those late playoff rounds, and we’re starting to see it happen again. And I also want to give some credit to Knoblock because I feel like he’s one of the best adjusting coaches in the league. Whenever the Oilers lose a game, they somehow come back and play exceptional hockey in the following matchups. It’s kind of crazy to watch. I think this is also going to be a big story line moving forward. Can Dbor adjust on the fly? Can he get a win on the road? Because I think that that’s going to be really important for the Stars. If they go down 3-1 against the Oilers, I can’t imagine them coming back. Now, the other thing I want to talk about is Jake Goinger because I feel like he’s been incredible in this year’s playoffs, but there have been some games where it feels like the Dallas Stars are dominating throughout most of the match, but there’s some bad goals here and there. Maybe you could blame him the defense. Maybe it’s all on Otter, but there’s got to be that save from Jay Goinger in these moments because that’s what really separates the elite goalies from those who, well, have those inconsistent games. And surprisingly, we’re seeing Steuart Skinner get those saves, but not Jake, which I just don’t think a lot of people had on their bingo cards. Edmonton has outscored Dallas 9 to3 during 5v5 play in this series and 5 to1 at even strength, which means that they need to pick up their play during 5v5 play. I don’t know if that means they need to have a better forche, if they need to change up their lines to get a little bit more chemistry going, but either way, it’s become a problem. When the media asked Pete Dbor about it, this was his response. You guys keep talking about the five on five numbers. We were a minus5 against Colorado, five on five without Mero Heiskin, and without Jason Robertson. In the Winnipeg series, we were a minus1 or minus two against the best defensive team in the league. But this is a weird thing to say because it’s not like you can just say every series is even. I don’t really understand what he was getting at here. Sure, you were able to pull out in no series against teams who I think are a little bit more inferior to the Edmonton Oilers because when you’re playing 5v5 versus the Oilers, they have McDavid and Dry Settle where Winnipeg just doesn’t really have that offensive driver the same way. I’m going to use a Sportsnet quote to really summarize what’s been going on in this series so far, especially in game three. When Dallas made their push, the Oilers survived it. And when the Oilers pushed back, Dallas didn’t just bend, they broke. The Dallas Stars defense needs to be a lot better. They gave up some really poor opportunities to Edmonton at bad points during this game. And while, like I said, Jay Goinger needs to make a save here and there, you can’t really blame him for a lot of the opportunities that Edmonton has been getting in this series. So, in short, who needs this series more? I mentioned it at the top of the video, but I think it’s actually a pretty interesting question to approach. On one hand, you have the Edmonton Oilers who have Conor McDavid being a free agent in 2026. They likely need to win a Stanley Cup if they want to retain him. Who knows if he wants to remain an Oiler, if he can’t win at the highest level, or if the team can’t put a sustainable roster around him. Then you have Dallas on the other side who, let’s be honest, they’ve done a really good job building out this roster. But do they really have what it takes to get past the Western Conference Finals, let alone actually get into the finals and win a Stanley Cup? I’m not sure. I think when it comes to Dallas, their back end is still a little bit weak. I love Heiskinan. I like Harley, but maybe they’re a year or two away from being at their best. When it comes to Edmonton, their back end, it’s shaky at times. their goalending. We mentioned it’s shaky at times. So, I’m not sure how sustainable this is going to be when you get to the finals and have to compete against the Florida Panthers. It’s going to be a whole different challenge. And we saw the Oilers struggle last year in the finals. They lost in seven, but realistically, they probably should have lost that series in four or five if Florida had just kept their foot on the gas. In my eyes right now, I think that Edmonton definitely needs to win this cup more than Dallas does right now. I think Dallas is more built for the future, especially with how they’ve structured some of their contracts. Yes, they might lose players like Jaime Ben and Tyler Sean and potentially even Matthew Shane, but their young core, I think that they have a brighter future than Edmonton does because believe it or not, Conor McDavid and Leon Dryet are closer to 30 than they are 20, which it feels like that happened overnight. But winning a cup is going to be important not only to their legacies, but to just keeping them in Edmonton in general. And I know Leon Dry said signed that contract and it’s very likely that McDavid is going to sign one too. But I do think that this is going to have a big impact on McDavid’s future. But yeah, this is my quick breakdown of the series so far. I’m trying to get these videos out in a timely manner. The series happens so quick. The video turnaround has to be like overnight. So, I hope you guys enjoyed my takes from this one. And let me know what you think about this series so far. Are you impressed by the Edmonton Oilers? Are you unimpressed by the Dallas Stars? Who do you think has been the better team so far? As always, thank you guys so much for watching this video. If you enjoyed it, give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel. I have a few other pieces of content that I’ve put out surrounding the playoffs and all things hockey, so be sure to check those out after this one. Again, thank you guys so much for watching. I’ll see you in the next episode.

Today let’s delve into the NHL Western Conference finals following the Edmonton Oilers beatdown against the stars to take a 2-1 series lead. The Oilers have found their groove once again to take control of this series against a stars team that on paper should be a lot closer in these games. This got me thinking… Which team needs to win this series more? Well today let’s breakdown everything that is happening in the WCF so far and who will be the better team to represent the West in this years finals. 1. You should talk about the drastic change in playstyle stars had before and after rantenen. Going from offensive powerhouses to from behind winners

  2. 1. how did knodblauch not call a timeout to settle his team when dallas tied it in game 1? weird / lack of experience maybe? 2. the nurse slash was typical of most slashes in that part of the ice… totally innocuous 99.999999% of time except on Roope who has foot-issue history. tough luck for Roope
    3. why wasn't the hit on connor brown not called? he was 'checked' by a player who left his feet and led with his shoulder into the head area. As kids in minor hockey we ALL learn that you never leave your feet unless you have intent to injure…. Sheifele was victim of this earlier this playoffs vs the Blues, as was a Leaf vs the Sens, all 3 went uncalled. Can't be sure, but I am almost certain a Leaf got smoked like this against Florida too? So to Dallas fans, I say, please go play minor-league hockey and learn what an innocuous slash is vs leaving your feet with intent to injure. Roope was the former, Brown the latter. Period.
    4. Skinner is the most bizzare netminder I have ever witnessed LOL

  3. officiating has been shaky but it doesn't matter

this team just isn't disciplined / physical enough. nurse injures hintz and no one does anything about it. and the sad part is they're probably gonna run it back with a few tweaks next year. we NEED a complete change. coaching and leadership (looking at YOU Jamie Benn).

after game 3, i lost all hope in the dallas stars, but after the fashion went out in tonight in game 4, I've lost all hope in them entirely. we will not win a cup with this core, we are no better than the 10s san jose sharks.

  4. Yeah Stars will be back. Robo, Miro, Wyatt, Otter, Harley, Bischel, and Borque all under 25. Roope and Mikko 28. Steel 27. Old guys gotta go. Defense needs to be rebuilt. And maybe PDB needs to go. Dude is allergic to the cup. Series isn’t over yet but I’m not holding my breath

  5. I never see the great talent that everyone says about the Stars. Every year its tge same as to how deep they are and Cup favorites.

  6. Terrible take on both teams. Oilers have proven over multiple serires including 2 against Dallas that they are deeper than any team in the west. People massively overrate players like Benn, Marchment etc and even Robertson. He only mentions 2 oiler forwards thrughout this vid. Its a typical tired uninformed take: oilers = mcdrai. That stopped being true about 18 months ago but lazy pundits dont bother to pay attention

  7. Their last hope is that facing elimination will light a fire under their behinds, but watching Dallas out there they looked lethargic, few high danger shots.

  8. Dallas has a brighter future then Edmonton ? Hmm, not sure what future your seeing, but the one I see has Edmonton playing in the Finals while Dallas players are all busy golfing. McDavid going to a team which has a better chance to win the Cup ? And exactly what team would that be? And after all you have seen, you say that Edmonton's defense and goaltending is shaky? and that McDavid doesn't have a good support group ? Pickard comes in as backup goalie and reeled off 6 straight wins until he gets injured. Then Skinner comes in and gets back to back shutouts.
You are putting down the team that is the WCF champs, lost the Cup by a goal last year, beat Dallas last year, and is about to beat them again this year. Take the blinders off and face the facts. Edmonton is simply a better team then Dallas. Nuff' said.😛

  9. This is getting ridiculous, please move the oilers to Houston. I hope Canada folds. Move the maple leafs to Cleveland, Canadiens to Baltimore, senators to Oklahoma City, jets to Atlanta, flames to Arizona and Canucks to San Diego.
