  1. Considering how grimy this postseason has been, it’s wild that the most significant injury has come from a clean collision.

  2. Unlucky for Zach and the Oilers. Wrong time, wrong angle is all it takes sometimes…makes you wonder how more of these freak injuries don’t occur more often.

  3. This sucks in so many ways: 1) I am a Zach Hyman fan 2) As a Panthers fan, I don’t want any excuses when we defeat the Oilers again 3) I want to watch another classic Stanley Cup finals!

  4. What happened?  I haven’t seen yet. Lemme guess, was it Marchmant?

  5. To me it looked like Marchment led with his shoulder and was likely to hit Hyman’s head had he not cought the arm first.
Its a crappy outcome but it could have been way worse for both.

The team needs to address Marchment, his threats and actions. Calling Kane, Freidric and Perry….

  6. Outside of McDrai Brown and Hyman were the two key forwards for a series against the cats. This hurts bad.

  7. the smallest hits that look harmless are the most dangerous…. due to magic.

This may cost them the cup!

  8. I find the wording interesting. he’s likely out, but getting surgery ….. wouldn’t that make him definitely out if he has surgery

  9. That sucks for the Oilers, he really brought the grinding physicality needed for a deep playoff run. That being said, I actually think the team is fast and physical enough that someone can step up into this role without too much of an issue.

  10. Dallas Stars spent the last two games targeting players rather than playing hockey. It seems the plan is if you can’t beat them, take as many of them out

  11. He got hit from a shot from the point earlier in playoffs, wondering if the hit from Marchment caught the same spot

  12. The minute NHL removed the enforcers was clearly open season to “win-by-any-means-possible” hockey. Add to that questionable refereeing and you have a recipe for (Florida) success.

I guess players willing to”to do anything” to stay employed will get a bonus.

It’s very similar to NBA where the league does nothing to intent-to-injure “incidents” (Dillon Brooks on Curry’s injured hand is the best example).

  13. Podzilla and Kaps need to throw some more hits to make up for it and gasp J Skinner get some time?

  14. “A lot of that stuff, you just keep in the back of your mind, and if the opportunity presents itself, then you take your chance,” Marchment said. (Talking about the Hintz injury)
