The New York Jets Could See A BIG Change With Their Practices!
[Music] All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. So, in this one, I wanted to focus in on something that is absolutely crucial for the New York Jets moving forward. It’s something that has to change. It’s practices, practice habits, how the Jets go about doing things. You know, over these last, man, I don’t even know. I mean during the entire Sala era and even trickling into the gays era it seemed like a lot of people had issues with how the Jets went about practicing right I mean there has been numerous people complaining about the solo practices talking about how it’s more of a lax environment it’s not really detailed focused it’s more so big picture focused which is really why I think we saw a lot of the same issues um every single week right penalties uh undisiplined play, uh, poor angles being taken to the football and the defensive side of the football, just weird things that would just pop up every single week. I I mean, I remember doing recap videos. I remember talking to, you know, a lot of Jets fans, reading comments saying, “We’re doing the same thing every single week. We are beating ourselves every single week.” I mean, there’s so many games that I can, you know, just think back on, especially in those first two years with Solo before we had like a lot of the, you know, a lot of the bigger name guys. Um, you know, specifically talking in that like Mike Laflur era where it’s just, you know, if the Jets just did one thing differently, if if they just fixed the two issues that went wrong every single week, we would probably be winning these football games. But they continue to pop up. they continue to rear their ugly head and um you know what what’s done is done and the Jets have now got to move forward and I think a lot again a lot of those issues stemmed from poor practice habits but with Aaron Glenn coming in could this be an opportunity where the Jets could have a complete 180 here and I think the answer is yes um this is not me trying to be you know an overly optimistic fan here but I think if we just look at the facts and understand who Aaron Glenn is looking at his resume looking at you know who he’s worked worked under. I think maybe we can draw some uh comparisons here to how future Jets practices look. Voluntary OTAAS, of course, are underway, but you know, these these practices aren’t padded. You know, there’s obviously going to be certain positions that shine uh because of the current structure. We’ll see the changes that take place when pads come on. Uh there’s really only so much that you can take away from the onfield stuff at, you know, in this section in May, uh early June, right? mandatory mini camp I believe kicks off June 10th through the 12th. We’ll see what happens there. But let’s take a look at Aaron Glenn’s resume. So, first things first, he’s a former player and he was coached by literally one of the best coaches of all time in Bill Parcels. And one of Parcell’s uh qualities about him was the practice style. Here’s a quote uh from Bill Parcell’s practices. Parcell’s coaching style was characterized by high standards and accountability. His influence extends beyond his own coaching achievements to those he mentored. the culture he created was focused on leadership and mutual respect. You know, me and Tyson from Let’s Talk Jets Radio have talked a lot about this. Um, really since Aaron Glenn is hired, he Tyson always is harping on the the Cot era and kind of the transition out of the Kotight era to the Parcels era, which was again a complete 180 here. Just the accountability, the discipline, the hard-nosed mentality uh that Parcels brought with him and it completely changed the culture. Now, I’m not necessarily comparing Robert Salah to Rich Code type, but I think it’s more so a representation of, hey, things can change. The culture can change. Now, speaking of culture changes, we can talk about the Detroit Lions, right? I mean, my entire life, Detroit has always been picking top 10. They’ve always been missing the playoffs. They’ve always, you know, been finishing last in the NFC North, always losing games. Not anymore. Not anymore. Detroit is a powerhouse. Detroit, man, offensive line, quarterback plays, skill position players, well coached, great culture. Guys are playing with each other. They’re they’re elevating each other, right? They’re not pointing the finger at one another, right? Detroit’s culture is awesome. It is awesome. Here’s a really, really awesome quote in regards to Campbell’s practices. One of the benefits of having a former player as a head coach is the built-in psyche. Dan Campbell knows things get repetitive in training camp. He also knows the Lions need work. The little things like a night practice instead of the usual 8:30 a.m. starts can help change up the pace and keep the focus where it needs to be. Campbell’s always thinking about things like that. He knows when to push and when to change things up, much like Monday night’s practice. His practices are described as physical, but not too physical where the players are feeling beat up and lethargic uh when it gets to game day. I mean, when you talk about practice structure, Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions are literally up in the top, like the upper echelon of the NFL on how they do things. Baltimore is up there as well, but um you know, it really seems like Detroit has the practice schedule, the offseason schedule, game preparation down pat. And of course, Campbell being the former player, Aaron Glenn being the former player, Aaron Glenn learning and being a part of that Lions culture. I’m going to assume here, not a, you know, foregone conclusion, but it’s common sense that some of those qualities are going to trickle into the Jets locker room. Let’s take a look at another Aaron Glenn mentor here in Shawn Payton. Payton’s practices have been described as calculated, detailed, weakness focused. There’s a real focus on the offensive side of the football of just doing your job right here are your tasks. Now, go complete them. As far as the defensive side of the football goes, it’s all about the physicality. It’s never about taking plays off. It’s never about finding the easy way out, looking for shortcuts. No, it’s tough, it’s long, it’s physical defenses, right? And again, looking at the Shawn Peyton practices as a whole, uh we can take a look at the culture change that took place going from, ironically enough, Nathaniel Hackett to Shawn Peyton. Here’s a really, really interesting quote uh from Jerry Judy. He basically came in saying how everything was going to be different around here. He said we would be working harder and doing things different and to his expectations. He brought his energy into the facility into the facility and onto the field where it takes only one practice. And watching Payton stop a drill to see where the work and expectations are going. So in other words, the Jets culture has been non-existent since I want to say the end of the Todd BS era, that is such a long time. It’s due it’s time for a change, right? And Aaron Glenn, someone who much like Dan Campbell, a former player, someone who’s worked and learned under, you know, some of the best coaches in football, but also some of the best practice coaches in football as well, the best game planners, Shawn Payeyton, Parcels again here, Dan Campbell. Um, I mean, we could throw in Ben Johnson, new head coach of the Chicago Bears. We’ll see what happens there. But, I mean, the talk coming out of Chicago right now is everything is just so focused on the little things. Ben Johnson has that team just as of right now. Again, it’s early. It’s May. Uh training camp hasn’t even started yet. We haven’t seen a Ben Johnson coach game. But the buzz coming out of Chicago right now. Things are completely completely completely different. It’s a lot of the same stuff that uh we’re hearing from the Jets, right? No leaks, no distractions, no fingerpointing. It really seems like the cultures are being flipped on their head um in again New York and Chicago here. So, I’m really excited, man. I’m really really excited. I’m really hoping that these that these practices are different. They change compared to what we’ve uh seen and heard over the last uh four years here with Sala and Brig. Getting away from this kind of uh and Nathaniel Hackett too by the way. Getting away from this kind of relaxed approach uh this you know oh we’ll we’ll fix it eventually. No accountability, discipline, physicality it that stuff needs to be implemented immediately. And it seems like Aaron Glenn is is uh you know the right guy for the job here. So anyway, let me know your thoughts down below. Thanks so much and as always chats [Music] [Music]
The New York Jets could see a lot of changes to practices with new head coach Aaron Glenn at the helm. With Bill Parcells,Sean Payton and Dan Campbell as mentors, we should see some positives changes to how the NY Jets practice! As always..Go Jets!

Let's go jets 2025!
Just look at who we brought in with our new regime it truly feelings different from the same way things were ran
Found a picture of parcells and Belichick😅
Practice is a huge and often overlooked factor. I have faith in these coaches. LGJ
Undisciplined players cost us games for years. I really hope AG fixes these issues ✈️✈️✈️
Practice? We talkin bout practice???
I’m high on the new regime and roster. Glenn is not going to be a players coach like saleh. He’s building a culture. Building a roster. I’m a believer in the system
I remember watching the Jets Hard Knocks on HBO and seeing Saleh come off as a phony Rah-Rah guy with stupid analogies. Then, I see Hackett talk about Goldmember and thinking oh boy…we are in trouble.
Then I look back on watching the Lions Hard Knocks and thinking, man, I wish our team's practices were like that.
if Aaron Glenn turns this team around he'll be a hero in new jersey/NY. Fans going to love him
It's hard to imagine this team being as poorly coached as we've been under Gase, Saleh, and Ulbrich. Practice is a huge reason why. A moderately coached team will be a massive upgrade for us. Our talent in a few key positions is lacking, but otherwise, this team should be much better going forward.
Will it equate to wins? They can practice all they want they have to win!Fans don’t care about practice!Just win!
I remember the first practices with Parcels. 95 degrees and he is screaming “Come on ladies, get those high heels off and start working for real!!!” The vets loved it and when interviewed said how this is the way it’s supposed to be. Instant culture change.
Practice sets the tone for the week. I trust Glenn to clean things up.
Aaron Glenn is a no-nonsense head coach ..!! Not like robert seleh..!!! Push Over type coach doesn't hold players accountability for there mistakes on the field..!! Aaron Glenn is that strict head coach and thats what this team needs a Dick Vermeil & Rex Ryan type of head coaches 😉 in my opinion bill parcels digging in your asses when you mess up on the football field ian we have the right coach.
This season chemistry will be built. I'm looking forward to next Year. We should take flight then. If We do great thia year good but it's a learning curve for all involved.
About damn time!
I remember the Great Curtis Martin saying: "Practicing hard and correct, is what makes game day successful!"
Ian did you see Haasan Reddick loll
Just because you practice hard doesn’t mean you’re winning. I love parcels but that’s a different era of football 🏈. Sceam and talent wins these days This seems like a college program rather than a professional nfl team. The lions are not championship team! They can’t beat the eagles
“Self inflicting wounds” as saleh would say.
Let’s go coach bring some discipline to this team and help us win. Practice how you play; and change our culture!
People say practices are no longer hard bevause they dont allow two a days, they limit pads, etc. that is old school football, the coaches who didnt allow water to the players in summer heat to toughen them up.
Hard practice means that every play, every rep in drills, is important and it means there is no such thing as an ignorable mistake. If there mistakes during games, you drill down and then you in practice create scenarios that can cause the error, and work to eradicate it if it shows up. Saleh thought if during practice mistakes arent made, you are well prepared, that the problem isnt there any more. A good coach knows it isnt that easy , and repeats scenarios until it breaks, and fixes it, until there are no mistakes.
I think Glenn understands that both from a player and coaching perspective. I dont think we are going to see the same mistakes week after week with him, either a player learns to fix their mistakes or they dont play.
Saleh wasn't any better than Gase. As Head Coaches both were Steaming Loads on the 50 Yard Line. Stop trying to cover for Saleh, if Saleh was worth a hill of beans Zach Wilson would have developed into a starting QB.
Jet up
Can't have 100 yards or more in penalties. The players of today could not last in the two a day practices they had in the '60's and 70's.
Sounds good!!!
This dude was slurping Saleh the whole time he was here.
IF things are going to change then the way they have been practicing definitely has to as well- clearly they don’t do enough and don’t practice well- because they have haven’t won more than 7 games in the past three seasons! Change everything.
Training camp for a rebuild team like the NY Jets will be hard, fast, disciplined, communication and players responsibility that's Aaron Glenn's coaching style. He is erasing the bad past, guiding the NY Jets towards "greatness" this season. 👍
Until the first game I am holding my hopes and dreams.
