Cowboys’ BEST KEPT SECRET, Javonte Williams HYPE & CJ Mosley Interest? | Dallas Cowboys Rumors
Before we get into today’s show, Giants Now host Marshall Green said today he wanted to have Giants Now catch the Cowboys report in subs this month. To which I say, “No, you ain’t. Let’s bury the Giants in subs this month. You get free Cowboys videos when you subscribe as well. Hit that sub button for me right now. [Music] Let’s begin today’s show as the Cowboys return to organized team activities. We’ll see what ones are actually public open to the media. Javvante Williams continues to generate some buzz early on in Cowboys OTAAS as a possible RB1. First up, this is what Albert Brier who uh does some great work for Sports Illustrated wrote on Williams says I’ll be interested to see Javvante Williams in Dallas. folks in Denver thought the world of him before a catastrophic knee injury in 2022. He said last week, more on that in a little bit. By the way, he finally feels like himself again. An opportunity should be there for the Cowboys or with the Cowboys for a back who was once compared at least stylistically to Marshon Lynch. I had less athletic Nick Chub comp coming out where like he’s he’s shorter. He’s not really even 510 around 220. Uh I also had written down a healthy Jai. So, I I take the responsibility for the injury there and Melvin Gordon, but I do think like interested to see Javvante Williams actually does sum it up really well for what the expectations are, what the hopes, what the goals are for the Cowboys potential number one back. Williams did comment recently on his health, how he feels. He said, quote, “I feel completely like myself and I could probably get more flexible and things like that, but as far as healing up, I feel like that is done. It just depends on who you are. It depends on your body. You know, mine, you know, mine might take this amount of time, but somebody else might be different. It’s a lot that goes into it that people don’t really understand. Just to be back out here, have another opportunity and chance to show myself. I can’t ask for anything else. Williams hasn’t been the same since that knee injury. He was on pace to be a really good running back. You know, year one, averaging 4.4 yards per carry. Looks like he’s going to be a key piece of of of the offense in Denver. you know, early second round pick, not an explosive athlete, but productive, some power. I thought was doing better third down stuff than he uh was even at North Carolina. Like I think he showcased some more ability there, especially as a pass protector. He hasn’t been the same since that knee injury. He just hasn’t been. You know, the the production, I mean, there’s been almost a full yard per carry difference there. 4.4 is good. 3.6 3.37 is not very good. So I think again interested to see how it plays out as we’ll get into. I don’t know how much we can really glean so far from OTAAS. So for week one could be different come week 18. Will Javvante Williams be that starter that lead back the majority of the touches and snaps guy? Why for yes, N for no? It is the pin comment on today’s show. So go vote Y or N. I do want to say this. I think there’s a high likelihood this ends up being a committee in the backfield. That’s what we thought last year. That was the Cowboys plan last year and they kind of pivots because they had one good back and they’re like, “Okay, well, we need to, you know, Rico’s the best back and Zeke is not good anymore. This should be more of a because there’s more options. You’ve got Javon Williams, you have my Sanders, you have Jaden Blue. We’ll see if Phil Mafluki can be contributors in any way on offense or special teams especially. I do think Williams has a chance to be a key player. I also don’t think any of this is guaranteed. I think he is a bit of a wild card. He is then that lowrisk, highreward category. There’s other options this year in a way that, you know, there kind of weren’t last year. At least we realize there weren’t last year. And that could end up becoming true again. And there could be an injury. There could be a guy that like, okay, it turns out my Sanders is very much cooked. The opportunity is there for him to be RB-1 and not even make the team. I hope that Javvante Williams does make that return to some of his early career form. That’s a good thing for Dallas. That means you got great value and you have a lead back that you don’t know you have currently on the roster. I do need to see it first. I don’t think we can assume that ends up being the case cuz you know what happens when you assume. He has not been the same post injury. I hope he’s right that he feels better and is going to play better and look more like that early career guy. I think Brian Shawimer was also right when he said, you know, we don’t learn much. We don’t glean much from running backs at OTAAS. There’s no contact. You need contact to properly identify a running back cuz oh, it’s just who’s fast. He’s right on that front. So, for running backs, I’m kind of just filing this away until late July, frankly. and we’ll have to have some patience and see how things look as we get further along into the off season. Right now, Williams is in that lowrisk, highreward bucket. I need someone to reward me at that position. I’ve got a lot of guys who fit that mold. If none of them show up, well then I’ve got a lot of nonreward backs and my running game is potentially not good again, which has been a huge issue come playoff time for the last Garrett and McCarthy eras, frankly. So, I am cautiously optimistic about Javvante Williams, but I got to see it first. A deal alert for you guys. This very sleek Cowboys polo is 40% off over on Fanatics. Bleacher Reports named the bestkept secret for each NFL team and they picked linebacker Jack Sandborn for Dallas, which I think this would be end up being a good thing. Uh, if this ends up being accurate, here’s what BR Matt Holder wrote. Samborn only made 19 starts during his three years with the Bears, which is a big reason the Cowboys are able to sign him for a cheap one-year $1.5 million contract in free agency. But the Wisconsin products to have a much bigger role in Dallas this season. The team’s run defense could use some help, and that’s always been a strength, according a 70 and a half run defense grade from Pro Football Focus in 2024. I’m very curious what the role for Jack Sandborn looks like because I don’t know if the Cowboys truly know what this linebacking core is going to look like. You can almost kind of ignore the position designations like DeMarian Oversham can play all three spots. Kenneth Murray can play all three spots. Maurice Leafal can play all three. Jack Samborn can do all three. They’re they’re able to be situational players and do, you know, run and chase stuff at weak side linebacker. take it on from from middle linebacker and kind of be an overhang, you know, rusher at times from that strong side spot. What the order looks like, I don’t know. Overshon’s not going to be good to go for week one. It could be Sanborn versus Murray and and, you know, Leafoul as a key piece. Like, I think that’s all going to get sorted out training camp, so it could end up looking very smart. Sambour, by the way, also picked off three passes. I don’t think that should be overlooked. I think his knowledge of the defense coming over with Ibraflu could make him actually a sneaky dark horse to be the green dot guy. I think you would almost want Leafoul to be that because Overshon’s going to be one starter when he comes back. I kind of hope it’s Leafoul because he’s younger, he’s cheaper, he’s under more team control. I think that’s the ideal outcome. But if Samborn can impress or Murray too, that’s a good thing. So Bleacher Report picks Sambour. Who do you think is the bestkept secret on the Dallas Cowboys roster? Let me know in the comments of today’s show. Let’s talk CJ Mosley. So, NFL trade rumors, the website, which I think actually does some pretty good work just like getting all the different information from around the NFL onto one site uh from different reports and everything. They had linked uh the Cowboys is one of their original pieces as a potential CJ Mosley destination. We have not talked about CJ Mosley because he’s coming off a four game played season. uh he was not exactly actively involved this past season. He he has been a longtime Jet starter at linebacker was with the Ravens forever. Uh does turn 33 years old. And it turns out there’s not normally a ton of interest in a soon to be 33y old who missed a ton of time this past season and is coming off another injury which kind of you know limit him to four games and three stars. That’s kind of all uh neck injury was involved there which like red flags red flags uh toe as well. Mike Fischer uh front of the show also reports the Cowboys are not in pursuit of CJ Mosley right now and as we’re getting into I do think that makes sense. I think the Cowboys are mostly okay at the linebacker spot right now which I also want to go more in depth on. Do you think the Cowboys need another linebacker as it is currently constructed? One for yes. zero for no. I think there is a scenario where we get through, you know, the next two months and go, “Oh, okay. Actually, maybe we do need another linebacker.” Turns out Overshon’s still going to need more time. The combination of Murray, Leaf, and Sambourne, and Clark isn’t there yet. The Cowboys want to move on from Clark potentially. Shamar James just needs a red shirt year. And you know, oh, if there’s an injury and you go, okay, yeah, we’re actually like, we’re one guy short. And in that scenario, you could revisit adding a linebacker and maybe making C.J Mo that option as just a one-year stop gap veteran piece. Right now though, I think you can pass. There’s only so many reps to go around. I want to give him to Leafoul and Samborn and Murray and James and Clark and etc. So, I think at this moment passing on a linebacker does make sense, but you could always revisit it if things don’t go your way early on in training camp. Other spots also may make even more sense. DT corner of the back field, but he put linebacker on that list, too. [Music]

Cowboys rumors are led by Javonte Williams, who continues to generate some buzz early on in Cowboys OTAs as a possible RB1. Albert Breer recently dropped this nugget on him: “I’ll be interested to see Javonte Williams in Dallas. Folks in Denver thought the world of him before a catastrophic knee injury in 2022. He said last week he finally feels like himself again. And opportunity should be there with the Cowboys for a back who was once compared, at least stylistically, to Marshawn Lynch.” Williams returning to his early career form would be huge for the Cowboys, but there’s also no guarantee that happens.
Cowboy news: Bleacher Report named the “best kept secret” for each team & picked LB Jack Sanborn for Dallas. Sanborn is a solid pick for this one, but he’ll still have to earn his roster spot and any playing time. Figuring out the Cowboys’ LB room and rotation is one to watch.

Dallas Cowboys rumors had linked CJ Mosley to Dallas, as NFL Trade Rumors (the website) had put the Cowboys on their Mosley destinations list. However, Mike Fisher reports the Cowboys are not “in pursuit” of CJ Mosley right now. And that makes plenty of sense.

We won't know who that"unknown talent" will until training camp!!!!! OTA's will show us nothing,so when the pads come will be the true test.
1(Yes) for anothet LB
Y
No
To early to call, let's see how they all perform when the pads come on
My initial thought after the draft that Mahfa and Blue would take care of running roles going forward…hope in hope…
Hey Tom! What are the chances that Donovan Azeiraku starts over Dante Fowler this season? I mean I know they just paid him like 18M but that was before the draft maybe they didn’t know they could get him.
The same people saying Phil Mafah over a healthy Williams in a system perfectly fit for him are the same people that screamed Trey lance, now Milton should replace Dak 🤦🏻♂️
My question is what defines explosive?
I've watched his videos, this guys can be explosive. If you don't believe me, go back and watch Him against Dallas. We're still looking for him.
Sanborn 😅
I think Mafah beats this guy out
