Is he the Right coach for this Franchise?

  1. For now, yes but the theory is most likely when Coop is available, he will take over

  2. He’s the right coach for us right now. He’s not the best at making adjustment or proper line changes. But he’s great at motivating the players, setting the culture, and developing our young corps.

In the future we’ll need a more strategic coach at the helm. But I’m grateful to have him as our first head coach, setting the tone for the future. Both for the players and organization.

  3. Based on the growth I saw last year, I don’t have concerns. We had a few players backslide, but I saw a lot of progress from a lot of our good young players. Plus Bear only has another year on his contract – no sense in rushing anything. If the rumors are true and Cooper wis willing to come here after next year and Bear isn’t getting the results, then I think our best option would be to take a shot with Cooper

  4. I thought he improved a lot this season. Especially from last year with the Coyotes, he adjusted his coaching style and play style with the assets that he had. I think the second half of the season the team was looking really good playing together. I see no reason to get rid of him unless there is a noticeable downswing or locker room issues.

  5. The thing about coaches in the NHL is that pretty much any coach is the right coach for the franchise as long as they’re a good fit for the team (unless they’re just like objectively bad coaches). But almost every coach, regardless of how good a fit they are, will inevitably be the wrong coach eventually.

Jay Woodcroft with the Oilers is a great example. He led the Oilers to a 50 win season in 21-22 and was McDavid’s coach in 22-23 when he put up over 150 points and 64 goals. Then, fired after starting the 23-24 season with a 3-9-1 record. He was the right coach until he just wasn’t anymore.

So Tourigny may be the right coach right now. But there’s the job security of NHL Coaches is unbelievably terrible.

  6. I wish this was something in hockey that would change. A new coach everyone 1-2 years is crazy and they need to let things play out more in my opinion. It’s a normal thing for a coach to have 1 bad season and get canned and think very rarely is it actually warranted.

  7. I can could see gone if this team isn’t in the playoffs mid season, there is a reason he hasn’t been offered an extension with only 1 year left on his deal.

  8. He’s part of the reason we didn’t make playoffs, with him constantly trying to make Ingram and Macelli happen. His power play coaching is really weak, and he made some mistakes like the kings did with being way too defensive when we were up by multiple points. If he doesn’t learn from his mistakes this season I hope we ditch him.
