You can follow me on Twitter, jake_reapma. It’s a series win on the road for the Detroit Tigers. One- nothing over the Kansas City Royals. And the road trip is off to a great start. We’ll talk about that series win. And how about the bullpen? That’s going to be a huge point in today’s postcast. And of course, Zack McKinstry getting it done as well. We’ll have our major talking points, our turning point, and our player of the game. That’s all next on a live lockdown Tigers postcast. And as always, we thank you for making this your Detroit Tigers postgame destination on Lockdown Tigers. Free and available wherever you get your podcast and of course on YouTube as well. It’s all part of the Lockdown Podcast Network. Your team each and every day. You can find the audio version wherever you get your podcast and the video version on YouTube. As always, hey, how about a collaborative environment? Let me know what you’re thinking. That comment section is open, so let your voice be heard. We’ll get to as many comments as we can because this is one of those games. It was pretty cut and dry what we’re talking about. We’re talking about Kater Montero four and a third and then giving way to the bullpen. I’m sorry, four and two/3 giving way to the bullpen and they take it the rest of the way. This game eerily similar to game number two in the series that went the Royals way last night with TK Scubble for the Tigers going seven shutout innings. And on the other side today, the Royals starter. Boy, was he good. Chris Bouvich, he gets the tough lock loss, but he goes seven innings, one earned run. He struck out nine. And I mean, you break this one down, it is so so similar to yesterday’s one- nothing Royals win. But today, it’s a one- nothing Tigers game. Baseball’s a crazy game. What can you say, folks? But let’s go ahead and get right in to our biggest talking point of the game. It’s what everybody’s gonna be talking about after this one- nothing win for the Tigers. This is what you’ll be talking about. Anytime you win a one- nothing game, you’re talking pitching, right? But this was a little bit different for the Detroit Tigers because it was the bullpen pulling the pulling the weight and getting it done. I mean, this is a bullpen that has really had somewhat of a roller coaster season. And listen, we got spoiled last year with how good this bullpen was. There’s no doubt about that. But today is another example. And it seems like this bullpen is st stockpiling uh example after example after example of how good they can be. And as of late, the combination that we saw today, you look at the youngster in Chase Lee, he had a seven pitch inning. Just incredible stuff from him out of the bullpen. And yes, he has had more success at the big league level than he has at the AAA Toledo level, which is a testament to Chris Federer and this Tigers pitching staff and the the the coaching staff that does such a tremendous job with this bullpen. And you can’t forget about Tyler Holton. I’ve been critical of him, but a really nice outing from him today with the one inning. Just give up gave up the one hit. And then Tommy Canley bringing it home with that change up. He gets the hold and Will Vest closes it out in the ninth with a nine pitch inning. Made two good plays defensively as well. So when you look at the scoreboard one- nothing, you think, “Oh wow, what a pitcher duel.” In yesterday’s game, one- nothing. If you liked offense, this was not the series for you. If you like great pitching, this was the series for you. So the Tigers get the win and take two of three, the bullpen. A huge reason why. And what do we always say about Kater Montero? give this team a chance to win and he did that. I mean, you’d like to see him go a little bit longer than four and two/3. Absolutely. Not quite long enough to get the win. So, the win instead goes to Chase Lee who like we said has just been absolutely dynamite since joining this big league team. Um, one and a third today. I mentioned the seven pitch inning which was really, really impressive um for Chase Lee. great to see from him and his erra continues to be very very low. So, you can’t say enough about how good this bullpen was. And listen, you got the best team in baseball and the Detroit Tigers. It never gets old saying that. And it never gets easy. Winning series on the road is just a huge huge component to a a good team. And you’re seeing this from you’re seeing it repeatedly and consistently from the Detroit Tigers. All right, let’s get to some comments. Jason Walter leads us off. That’s baseball, baby. Peach Sarra says, “Thank you, Zack McKinstry.” Absolutely. We’re going to get into Zack McKinstry. And why not right now? Zack McKinstry, the lone offense for the Detroit Tigers, which was kind of bizarre. Um, he leads off the third with a triple and he’s on third with one out. And you see the wild pitch get away from Salvi Perez. And initially, McKinstry doesn’t break home. But I just heard it on his postgame interview with Daniela Bruce that uh he heard the dugout screaming, “Go home, go home.” And that was his clue that the ball had gotten further away from Perez than he had originally thought. And on the flip side, it felt like, and Benetti said this on the on the call as well. Um, so I’m just reiterating it that it felt like Perez kind of conceded the run knowing how wild of a pitch it was and that got all the way to the back stop. But had he taken off for it in a dead set sprint, I don’t know if he would necessarily have gotten McKinstry because again, it was in fact a wild pitch that got all the way to the back stop and cared from there. But it certainly would have been a much closer play if Perez would have taken off after it in a dead sprint. Or on the flip side, if McKiny reads that right away, obviously uh there’s no play to be had. But just kind of a funky play all the way around. And the fact that that’s the only run of the entire game. I mean, that’s the one run in the final one- nothing win for the Tigers over the Royals. And if you were still listening to the broadcast, um, right as the game ended, Benetti mentioned that’s the first time in 80 years, 80 plus years that the Tigers have won a one- nothing game on the road in which the only run was a wild pitch. So just absolutely crazy stuff. Um, and I feel like Tim Kurchin right now that would just scream that’s what you love about baseball. That’s what you love about baseball. Uh, because you really just cannot draw it up. No doubt about it. All right, who else do we have? We’ve got Cole Ziggler to get to. Tough loss on Saturday, but we’ll take the series win. Ready to see Chicago and see if they can get the offense humming again. Yeah. Hey, I know it’s a road trip and you want to win one series at a time, but you’ve got four games against the Chicago White Socks. Let’s go take all four. Why not? Why not the Detroit Tigers? There we go. One zero back-to-back games is crazy. That’s from Joel Jackson. Indeed, it is. Demetrius McNeel is up next. Wow, what a game. Featuring the final score of one to nothing in back-to-back games. That’s incredible. Next series, please. By the way, thank you for reminding me about the profanity of the show. I don’t know if what I reminded you of, Demetrius, but uh yeah, I try to keep it I don’t know if I said something. Whoops. If I did, my bad. Uh the dude says, “This entire series filled with great pitching except my serving up more meatballs than Olive Garden. Vest is the best.” The dude, I appreciate the humor in that. And uh yeah, with Casey Mai’s going um you would like to see a little bit better. um return, but hey, he’s had some time off with the on the injured list and hopefully uh it’s just one example and he bounces back. All right, Brilan Dennis says, “Zack McKinstry single-handedly won us this game.” I don’t know about single-handedly. We You did have a one- nothing. You’d have nine scoreless innings there. I think the pitching staff deserves a little bit of credit there, but on the player positional player status, yes, he was the only I mean I mean the guy hits a triple and then scores on a wild pitch. So, look at that. All right. Um, the dual spoon says, “Monto is good. Just needs to be consistent.” Yep. Completely agree. And, uh, Max Splicer says, “Series win any way you can take it. Let’s go.” You got to love it. All right. Uh, Brilland Dennis says, “I’m really loving Chase Lee. He should have a long-term stay in our bullpen.” Hey, so far so good. You gota you gotta love what uh Chase Lee has brought to this bullpen. And uh I mean listen, I I think I’m pretty clear with this, but it’s always good to repeat it. You’ll take a win anyway you can get it. And if it’s an unlikely hero, but you talk about a first place ball club like the Detroit Tigers and really the best team in baseball, again, I’m never going to get tired of saying that. Whose game today was won by Zack McKinstry and Chase Lee. Now, you would say that. Yes, Mckenry’s been around long enough where we’re used to it. But I said it the other day. I mean, this is a guy that played at Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and now has found his way to the big leagues as a impactful contributor and one of the top 20 war players in all of baseball. So, just incredible stuff. And seeing the way this script is being written, uh, you just you can’t make it up and it’s it’s awesome stuff all the way around. All right. Um, got to pay the bills. We got to turn keep the lights on. You know I love to do that here on a live locked on Tigers postcast. Don’t go anywhere. More to come. Couple more comments to get to before we get to our player of the game and our turning point. Uh Gary Meyers, want to give a shout out to him, one of our regulars here, says, “How much longer for key injured players?” Not sure exactly which ones you’re talking about, but uh hoping that Parker Meadows will be back soon. And you know what? Uh same with Reese Olsson. And so we’ll uh we’ll keep uh we’ll keep you a breast on that for sure. All right, let’s get to our What do we want to do? Do we want to do our player of the game first or our turning point? How about a turning point? Time to reveal where the game was won or lost. It’s the turning point. The easy way, the easy answer on this is Zack McKinstry’s leadoff triple in the third and then scoring on a wild pitch. But I also feel the bullpen helped maybe not turn the game around, but certainly power this team to victory. And you know, when if if we’re really staying true to the bumper there or where this game was won or lost, this game was won with the bullpen. I mean, somebody has to score a run eventually. And obviously the Tigers did so a little bit earlier in the contest, but just one run. And the fact that the Tigers bullpen was able to make that stand up is just a testament to the prowess and strength that this team has. And Chase Lee is on the top of the list. Tyler Holton, Will Vest, Tommy Canley’s change up. And you listen to the broadcast with Carlos Pñena, which great to hear him on there as well. I always enjoy his um analysis. But just talking about the mind, not not even mind games, but just the the strategic element of pitching and hitting and all of the different chess pieces at play in any given at bat. And this Tigers bullpen team just nailed it today. They they were so so good. And you know, you talk about where this game was won, it’s with the Tigers bullpen. How about our player of the game? This is the locked on player of the game. This is tough because you think Tigers don’t win without Zack McKinstry. So, we give him the player of the game with the triple and lone run scored. However, however, this Tiger entire Tigers bullpen team gets a a nod as well because uh and add Kater Montero because anytime, like I said, you have a one- nothing win and they were able to pitch around some traffic. I mean, Monto pitched around a lot of traffic. So, you’ve got base runners on throughout the course of the game. You’ve got high leverage situations time and time again. I mean, again, anytime you’re in a one one- nothing game through those later innings with one swing of the bat, the game can be tied. So, I just I I totally totally tip my cap to this Tigers bullpen for their impressive uh um keeping the game uh a shut out for the Detroit Tigers. Okay, that’s going to at least uh run it uh up for this edition of a locked on Tigers postcast. And uh shout out to my guy Gary Myers. Jake, nice dude. That makes you the player of the game. Far from it. Yeah, we did. Uh you’re watching on YouTube. We uh got my ears lowered. I got all my hairs cut. Yeah, it’s a good one, Jake. But I’m there’s some good good dad jokes there. But uh um Rufus TCAT saying we escape with a series win. Completely agree. And it doesn’t even matter. Escape, whatever it may be, thriving, surviving, whatever it is, this Tigers team, uh, winning, stockpiling series after series after series, which is what it’s all about. All right, we’ve got the Chicago White Socks on the schedule next for four games in Chicago, whatever they’re calling that ballpark. Guaranteed Ratefield, Ratefield, Kamisky Park, The Cell, US Cellular Field, whatever it is. It’s kind of I mean it’s south side of Chicago, so say no more. Sorry to anybody any uh Chicagoans out there, but I love Chicago. Truego uh for that matter. I for while we get personal here at the conclusion of the Lockdown Tigers postcast, got my masters from Northwestern University in Evston, but all the classes were all the master’s classes were downtown. So spent a lot of time in Chicago, lived there for a year and a half. great spot. Um, that being said, I hope the Tigers take all four and uh, this team is rolling. Let’s keep it rolling. So, appreciate everybody tuning in. It’s always a pleasure to be live on the Locked On Tigers postcast. Thanks so much for liking today’s video and subscribing to Locked On Tigers. And don’t forget to check out Lockdown MLB Game Night, the look around the league, as well as the Lockdown Tigers with Scott Bentley. Thanks as always. How about a win for the Detroit Tigers? Shout out to Will Vest on the save. I believe I I said that, but boy was he really good as well with the nice defensive play. His ninth save of the year, a nine pitch, ninth inning. And Chase Lee with the win, an inning and a third shutout ball. One of those innings was a seven pitch inning. Impressive stuff. So, thanks so much as always. Have a wonderful rest of your day and we will talk to you after tomorrow night’s game. Tigers and White Socks. Looking forward to it then. And there was kind of a a shuffling of the Tigers projected starters. Uh if you look at the uh projected starters on MLB.com, you think tomorrow it will be Jack Flity. That’s who’s listed. But for the rest of the series, it’s all uh TDB. Um well, at least for the two middle games. And then Casey M is listed for Thursday. So likely Scoo will pitch on Friday uh back at Comra Park against the Chicago Cubs. I say likely because it’s not final, but uh that being said, that’s what uh that’s the latest from MLB.com. Okay, have a wonderful rest of your day. Thanks as always for tuning in. See you next time on lockdown tigers Close.

Nice win, despite the lack of runs. Montero is becoming a respectable starter. Bullpen is solid. Bring on them White Sux! 🍻⚾
My vote for Zach ! My Roman player
Great win🎉
Wow, back to back one – nil games… I feel bad for KC losing on a wild pitch… but a win is a win, and I’ll take wins any way I can get ‘em
Didn’t they have 4 hits that should have been a error? If so we need to clean up the fielding Thank God they didn’t score from it. Hopefully when we go to Chicago our bats will come to life. Thanks Jake good stuff.
Royals has some good pitching al central pitching in general is pretty darn good
Tigers vs Royals always play close tight games
