It may be unexpected to us, but I promise you, the team leadership knew last year or earlier and the draft was done as it was with his departure in mind.
I don’t think they would get it…tell them those were like Sewell announcing he’s retiring…that’s How those hit.
The helpful part with Frank’s is I was surprised (I thought he’d try to finish out his contract), but not shocked when I saw the retirement post. We knew this was a possibility for well over a year now. Calvin’s too there were rumors floating around for a couple weeks that he was walking away.
Barry was virtually out of nowhere, and a couple months later in the offseason if I’m remembering right. The only comparison I could make for younger fans is Andrew Luck’s retirement
Was this really unexpected? Wasn’t he contemplating retirement last off season? If anything this was kind of expected if not now, then the near future right?
Still a massive loss and by far the worst news of the off season.
