Rick Bowness – The Man that Fixed the Winnipeg Jets

Rick Bowness was hired as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets, with the goal of fixing the locker room issues. Rick did far more than just that. This video is about the team Bones inherited, how he fixed it, and the long lasting effects we still see to this day on the Jets. I hope you all enjoy.

  1. I dont think he hurt the team so dont get me wrong but I most certainly would not suggest for a second he turned the team around.

I think there were a lot of factors that contributed to the successes and one of them… I would go as far as to suggest maybe the biggest would be seeing Paul Maurice lead the Florida Panthers to the successes that team saw very quickly after he became their coach.

"If I could have one more thing…"

  2. NGL, the Dallas loss is still too fresh. I mean, that was a pretty decisive loss. Hell, really this postseason just confirmed that the teams biggest asset really turned into the weakest piece of the team come playoffs

  3. The most important thing Bones did was tell Chevy/Chipman to buy out Wheeler.

Watching that handshake line vs Dallas cemented that the Jets are family. (and I will forever say that if Scheifele's dad hadn't died, they find a way to win that series)

Even though they didn't get past Dallas, the whole team learned a LOT about themselves and what it takes to win.

Hellebuyck had broken the mental block of the playoffs – you could see it after Game 4, and it was cemented in Game 5 and 6. The defiant brashness was gone, replaced by a calm focus. (that's the best way I can describe it)

I think we'll see it even more next season.
