JJ Redick after the Kings traded Haliburton: “This is some of malpractice on the Kings part. Tyrese Haliburton has been the best player on that team… he was determined to turn things around in Sacramento… they traded away their best player”

  1. Man at this point I’m like fuck, maybe they should have moved to Seattle after all…

Hali was so vocal about loving Sac and wanting to turn things around. We don’t get that from a star really ever.

Before him it was Boogie, and we did him dirty too….

C Webb was pretty vocal about loving kings fans but not really loving Sacramento. That’s the pretty common take from NBA stars.

    Fuckin a.

  2. Hindsight is 20-20 but it is crazy that they traded a guy who is now an all-time playoff riser for a guy whose game does not translate well to the playoffs at all

  3. Sacramento did get some shooters that offseason and made the playoffs the following season

The kings season was already doomed when they got Sabonis and he was acting like they were trying to win a championship

    Nonetheless this trade stunk

  4. No Luka. No Hali. No Fox. At least that one year they made the playoffs was great, until the first round exit. Shame they stayed stagnant while the west improved.

  5. Could’ve drafted Luka, could’ve kept Haliburton, but chose De’Aaron Fox over both, and now they have none.

  6. When the Kings initially made the playoffs as a 3 seed this trade briefly looked less bad. Then they got beaten in round 1 (by a team who didn’t even make it beyond the next round) and been back in hell ever since And of course ending up having to trade Fox only made it worse.

Let this be a lesson, stop fixating on one player to trade for and giving up whatever the other team wants to get them. Nico did it with Luka and the Kings did it with Hali (obviously Luka was even worse but the Hali trade was still hella dumb).

I wonder what other teams would have given up if they put Hali on the open market at least?

  7. This was obvious if you believed in analytics. Analytics rated Haliburton as a top 3 pick in the 2020 draft, analytics rated Haliburton as one of the best young players in the NBA in his first few years, and analytics rated Haliburton on a trajectory easily higher than that of Fox.

Of course if you are just a highlights watcher, where Haliburton is relatively underwhelming compared to comparable peers, or box score watcher you might not think so but it was so obvious that Haliburton would be special on predictive analytics. Even earlier this season if you see any of the Haliburton posts, it was obvious he was just getting unlucky and due to mean reversion but most people won’t understand those terms.

  8. Most people said this. Crazy how often fans can tell when someone does something stupid.

  9. If we could force one owner to sell the team for the good of the league, would it be Kings, Bulls, or Mavs? I’d vote Kings honestly

  10. But Sabonis and his double doubles and triple doubles?!?! Can’t believe there are Kings fans who compare him to Jokic just because of his stat padding from Mike Brown’s system.

The blame on Fox is funny. Haliburton didn’t want to go to Sac before the draft because of the lovely city, fans, the fancy new arena, or the prestigious ownership. Dude actually stated that he wanted to play with a guard like Fox who can score so he could be off ball. Kings shouldve been patient with bith of them.

To add to that, the Davion mitchell pick was just baffling. You already have Fox and Hali, while having no wings or an NBa caliber big. This isn’t hindsight is 20/20, when they had Sengun in SAC for private workouts. They had Trey Murphy as well. These idiots proceeded to pick a player they didn’t even talk to, an undersized defensive PG when they already had Fox and Hali. Thats why they are the Kangz.

  11. It’s funny that JJ Reddick here is pointing out how ridiculous it was that the Kings built a team entirely out of non-shooters, only for the Kings to actually **double down** on non-shooters with the Derozan trade. A trade Kings fans would tell you was ‘actually good’ for months before they limped out of the play-in games with a whimper. The team the Kings could have had will go down as one of the bigger ‘what-ifs’ in basketball.

  12. I was with Reddick and was pretty disappointed when Lowe would push back and say that Sabonis is still good.

Yeah, he is. But it was clearly a short-term move at the cost of the long-term and when you’re the Kings with nothing, you need that long term. Who cares about getting bounced in the first round?

It was clear that Haliburton was going to be good however I personally didn’t expect it so quickly.

Kings finally draft an All-NBA player and he’s on another team in two years.

  13. As much as I would love to still have him, we would still be a lottery team and the beam team year wouldn’t have happened. The pacers are really good team and I don’t think the kings owner would ever be competent enough to build a true contender like the pacers. Even our current roster isn’t a Tyrese Haliburton away from championship contention. It’s easier knowing we would have screwed it up anyways

  14. “Jarvis I’m low on karma, I NEED to post about how the kings traded away Tyrese Haliburton”

  15. This wasn’t a controversial opinion at the time…. the Kings got killed for that trade

  16. “Tyrese is my guy, this is my guy” – JJ Reddick

Indiana trading Hali next season to Lakers after losing Finals this season. Confirmed.

  17. Not the only team that traded away their best player. Ain’t that right Mr. Redick?

  18. Go ahead, Vivek deserves all this shit.

Us fans though??? How much more can we take 😂

  19. This is why JJ is a head coach and the rest of these media clowns are stuck still talking.

Richard should be coaching somewhere too. He’s becoming a little to reserved on some of these bigger shows as opposed to how he is at games or online

  20. The Haliban needed an origin story. I’m happy we provided that part of the story arc.

  21. Damn man JJ looks like he’s aged over 15 years since taking the Lakers job lol

  22. Malpractice huh? Kind of like playing your starters for an entire half of basketball?
