good morning football That’s right This is GMFB Get in here As we mentioned John Robinson former GM former scout for a lot of teams that you know and love We have all 32 to talk about today in the NFL I don’t care that it’s June 2nd We got to go in deep on all the teams But the fact that Kyle all of a sudden I have to address a lot of tabloid coverage of different players There was a wedding over the weekend Kyle I can’t believe that you’re not sitting here at the table since uh apparently the MVP of the NFL got married over the weekend What do you think about that well you guys are in California Josh Allen’s wedding did go down over the weekend I saw this morning that Larry David was there I don’t understand the connection Maybe he knows the bride from Hollywood But I think it’s funny with our friend John here is that when we have new host that sit down at the table we always pur John to be like “We’re not like the other shows We talk about all the teams We get creative We don’t just do the same old headlines He sits down Our first topic is “What do we make of the cowboys?” It’s like it’s completely against brand but here we are We have to talk about somebody and we might as well make somebody at the table comfortable and that’s Isaiah Standback Since you work and you live in Dallas let’s go the Cowboys you’re up The Cowboys have to like what they are seeing from their new wide receiver Still trying it on for size to say that George Pick is in this room That’s a grab That’s a still image in the Photog if you will This is from ODA his head coach Brian Shot scout and Brian Shotheimer is a head coach big hand talker which I appreciate that about shot Dallas is a new star wide receiver a new head coach that you just heard and talk about his team and then a healthy DCK Prescott What do we make of this version of the Dallas Cowboys Isaiah keep in mind it is June 2nd It is definitely June 2nd And I know the things that we’re going to talk about aren’t necessarily sexy But listen up people These guys aren’t wearing P yet We’re not in training camp So all we have to talk about is what we can be in the future The Dallas Cowboys right now are doing great job of establishing something that I always talk about and that word is culture I know I know it’s not sexy I know nobody wants to hear it but it’s the reality Okay when you become a professional athlete you have to have a culture established with the team Usually items from the head coach Sometimes it comes from management but most of the time comes from the head coach Brian Sharenheimer is ensuring that these guys understand that this is going to be a competitive positive environment He wants these guys going out table Everything is to go ahead and stir up and and nourish this competitive atmosphere How does that help your team when you can compete against yourself every single day every single rep Now it makes it easy when the opponent steps on the field and you guys are now a collective unit going out there and trying to take down that folk These guys now have added some pieces that everybody is going to be excited about George Pickins obviously Okay Offensively I like what they’re doing uh with the running back room okay with Givante Williams he’s doing a great job in uh OTA so far as well The old line is where I like to focus my attention at They have three first round picks on this offensive line They have invested a ton there They lost Zagmar and they lost all the guys ok but they have some new some new bread in there What else is going on offline coaches These guys are spending a lot of emphasis there So they are doing great job not only creating a culture but creating a foundation up front that can sustain this organization for a very long time I just think if you ever feel at all pessimistic about the cowboys just watch Isaiah Just watch Isaiah and you’re ready You’re going to start planning the parade The Super Bowl Cowboys are back Isaiah you are a jolt of positivity on a Monday morning but I’m not even going to zag against this thing because I like the Pick’s excitement I like that there’s a new coach Frankly I like that sound bite from Schottenheimer who gets accused of being boring and having nothing to say I I’m glad that we’re not watching Mike McCarthy again saying the same stuff he said for several years It’s something new And Jamie what have I said for a decade about the Dallas Cowboys what is different it’s the same show It’s the same thing Every Now I’m looking at a lot that’s different And I like the Pickens thing because he mentioned the youth like George Pickens is newly 24 years old like entry level 24 very young George Pickens has never played with a great quarterback I don’t even think he’s ever played with an above average quarterback And now is it because I a standback absolutely But I choose to feel positive right now And yet I have someone to my right who is a a master in personnel and chemistry and talent And we land this guy John Robinson George Pickins in Dallas with the boys How are you feeling about it yeah I don’t know that I’m a master Kyle but uh I love this time of year because of the picture that we saw of Pickens All the social media uh teams put these photos out there of these catches and these throws of routes on air There’s no coverage There’s no threat of blitz There’s no nothing There it is That’s a Super Bow Yeah I mean that could be right after stretch but it’s just like “Oh my god this guy’s going to the Hall of Fame now.” Yep Um but that that’s where we’re at right we got to have something to talk about Um I you know I like I like what I like what Dallas has done You know on paper it looks it looks really good Um with with adding picks it gives somebody to take the attention away from CD Lamb You know they’ve got Ferguson in the in the um in the tightend spot You know Isaiah mentioned Jvante Williams they’ve got to get that run game going back to the days You know in the 90s when they had emit and they and they leaned on that offensive line and you had the playmaker and Michael Irvin all of that stuff opens up when you can get the run game going So I think with Jvante you know healthy offensive line and a healthy DC Prescott right um Dack’s got to stay healthy He’s got another weapon now and pickens to go to It looks good on paper Um so we’ll see kind of where it goes No doubt Jam John John I want to ping it right back to you in another catch phrase that Kyle Brant uses all the time because we are kind of doing the loop if you will the recycled uh Kyle Brant catch phrases from 2024 and 2025 Um Kyle always says you look at the coach and the quarterback to assess whether or not a team should be a playoff team Like if you if you’re confused or distracted by all these other shiny objects in the room look at the coach in the quarterback We know what DCK is about What can you tell us about Brian Shoter and what he can be as a head coach in this league cuz I’m sure you have run in the same circles You know the guy a little bit Yeah I mean shy’s been around a long time right um you know his dad was an awesome football coach Um you know Bri Bri’s waited his chance to to get this opportunity He’s coached a lot of good players in this league He knows the league He knows what wins in the league Uh so I’m excited to see what Brian can do down their innovative mind offensively Um so I’m excited to see what he does I’m excited to hear your answer to this question because you for so many years have now judged talent made decisions based on should we bring this person in should we pay them all that stuff Let’s go back to Pickens Um how do you personally in your experience weigh someone who has had very obvious um emotional ups and downs in the field we’re fighting we’re in fans like it’s a problem It’s there It’s been I get it He’s young but it’s been going on And the other hand very talented Like how do you weigh that and what do you think of the cowboy thrown in with a guy like that yeah I think ultimately is what’s the guy’s coachability right like is does he want to be coach does he want to be good at his craft um everybody deals with things in their life I deal with things in my life You deal with things in your life We all have players deal with things outside of football But when he walks in the door of the building uh is he coachable is he going to make himself available to go out there and help his teammates is he a good teammate um those are the things that you know they’re trying to get to know right now during this time of the year Um to see how is he going to fit in with the group You know like I said everybody has something Um but he’s got an extremely cool skill set um and playmaking ability that’s certainly going to propel that offense down there in Dallas I think Well and it sounds like there’s new friendship brewing between GP and CD as Brian Shtnheimer said So let’s keep talking about the Cowboys But as you mentioned John the Cowboys have to deal with everything in their life and that everything is a Super Bowl champion in their division If you assume DC Prescott is healthy can the Cowboys be the threat to the Eagles that the NFC East needs and can they compete as a top team in the NFC for that matter kyle I’ll go to you first It’s tough to judge them against the Eagles right now because DCK missed the games last year And so normally what we do is we pull up last year’s games and say “Well they were sucked or they were good.” And it’s kind of a mystery but what’s not a mystery is I mean they still have Sean coming right at him Let’s take the quarterbacks out of it Let’s take the coaches out of it Sequan particularly in the second time they faced them last year just I mean ran right through them Now this was kind of the drags of a cowboy season that was going nowhere but and they just fed him and fed him and there was nothing in the Dallas is going to do about it So DK and Schottenheimer I don’t think they’re going to make much difference in this regard Is the Cowboys defense ready to stop this i know Isaiah is going to tell me that the 85 bears I can’t wait to hear it and he’s getting reved up over there But I just feel like yes the Cowboys are going in the right direction Am I going to say on June 2nd i don’t know Watch out Philadelphia I just saw Philadelphia absolutely beat the doors off the Kansas City Chiefs and one of the worst Super Bowls I’ve ever watched Are the 2025 Cowboys going to come knocking not there yet Excited where the Cowboys are going but I love the guys in Green still What do you think JR yeah And and for me it’s uh I’m a lot like you It’s uh Philly looks really strong Um they didn’t really lose They’ve only reloaded Yeah Um they’ve got a machine going up there right now I think the team down in Washington probably has the best chance You know they traded for tons they draft so insane was freak No it was freaky Like the things that he could do to make the off platform throws Yeah Um his ability to ID defenses to get the ball in the right spot Um you know the touch that he shows on throws is just command for a rookie coming into a team Um it was a really really impressive season by by Jaden there Yeah Uh yeah go going back to Dallas listen I agree with you guys I think that the defense is going to have some things that they need to address but I one thing I’m not concerned about is the one thing one area that they’ve needed to address for the past few years and that is their front seven Uh the Dallas defense align has not been sound They have not been able to to stop teams from running the ball against them They have been able to elicit pressure because they got some dude named Michael Parsons over there But not only do they have Michael Parsons now they went back and got Dante Fler Jr who had one heck of a year with the Washington Commanders last year They have Sam Williams they have some other help Solomon Thomas So they are shed up this front seven that they have Uh Mattfus is now their uh their defensive coordinator We know he’s a linebacker specialist They picked up a handful of linebackers in free agency and through trades So their front seven’s going to be sound My concern is in the secondary and my concern is only with the secondary because of the health All right You have um you have Travon Dick who’s trying to come back uh from injury Um you who else we have we have um uh my apologies uh Duron Bling back he’s healthy Uh Ken Carson is coming back from injury Uh you have the Shavan Revel who just got drafted by them These guys are all hurt They’re all injured They’re all coming back from some type of a knee injury So when their secondary is healthy which probably won’t be until midseason they’re going to be a problem But until then can they get to that point of the season where all their guys are healthy and if they are able to hold off teams until that point then we can talk about how dangerous are going to be But they have one heck of a schedule that they got handed to him a couple weeks back Somehow we just went from calling George Pickin’s oneheaded catch the Jordan logo to If they can get through half of the season and then get a healthy secondary then we should be hedging our bets left and right Isaiah stand back Listen what jamie let me throw it out to Isaiah We we we joke with you about how positive you are at the Cowboys and I totally respect it But the fact is is that in the middle of January they usually turn into a ghost So I want you to come on the show next January in that shirt the day after they lose If it in fact happens you have to wear the same
