can click that little uh that little subscribe button below and then hit that notification bell so you never miss an episode of Sarcastic Remarks it’s a little weird here today just being here by myself but I’ve got a lot of stuff to talk about uh I was actually at the press conference it was actually very strange because it was my first time at the Comica Center in that regard being a quote unquote media member it It was It was fun nonetheless and I got the opportunity to hear from the horse’s mouth exactly why all of this went down uh but uh before we get into anything else as well I I do want to uh give a shout out to the DLLs guys and specifically uh John over there the producer he he he’s been really fun and it it’s it’s been awesome to to watch what he’s added to uh to that show it’s unfortunate that we will not be uh seeing him he’s still he’s still going to be at DLS just in a different uh aspect but uh good luck to him moving forward and as always uh Stars Twitter will always be there for you John so if you want to come and uh talk smack with some of us you’re more than welcome to just wanted to give a quick shout out to John for that and his future endeavors and everything so okay so got all the uh all the announcements and stuff out of the way so let’s talk about what happened today uh I got to be honest i was very very very shocked and surprised at Jim Niel’s announcement here today he said he met with uh Pete Dbor at 9:00 a.m this morning and told him that he would be relieving him of his head coaching duties and looking for a new head coach for the Dallas Stars uh we finally heard from Jim Nell about firing Pete Dbor it only took a couple of hours uh for him to come and talk to the media about it but uh let’s kind of break down a little bit exactly what happened and what it really means and what he said because I mean that’s that’s part of our job right as uh podcasters we have to go way too much into depth with things and figure out you know all of the the world’s problems when it comes to the stars so the the the first thing that I do want to mention is even though I was calling for you know maybe a change in head coach with Pete Dbor I I still hate this if if this makes any sense and here’s what I I’m kind of talking about is as a person and as a human being uh Pete Dbor was a a very good person and he he was always willing to uh to answer questions for the most part sometimes he got a little bit frustrated with things but who who who doesn’t when you’re in one of the most stressful jobs in hockey but I I hate seeing people lose their jobs and and it’s it’s never a fun thing today and that was actually one of the first things I wrote down in my notes before uh you know coming up with an outline for this episode was today is a tough day that that was and tough day was the first thing that you know Jim Dell mentioned so I was it kind of took me a back a little bit because with all of the the chaoticness of today that was the first thing and what’s kind of funny about all of that is it it kind of simmered everything down a little bit for at least for me the feeling in the room at least for me felt like it it kind of settled down a little bit after he made that comment it was and it was right off the bat too so let’s get into some of the the reasoning for why Pete Dbor was fired uh and he and and I’m paraphrasing a lot of this stuff but if you would like to go and check out the full uh the full 25inut media availability that Jim Nil did it is available on the Dallas Stars YouTube i highly encourage you to go and do so and it it it really shines a lot of light into the decision and why it was made and and some other things as well that we’re going to get into if we have time but long story short he met with Pete Dbor this morning at 9:00 a.m like I mentioned to kind of inform him of the decision so this was not something that was made last night and you know Pete Dbor had time to think about it or anything which we’ll get into that as well whether he was expecting it or not but uh he and he also emphasized that this was his responsibility as GM was saying and and part of an over year-end review and I know some people were kind of taking that and running with that with what you know whatever that means but the thing is this is something that that every GM at least the good ones uh this is what every single GM does like that they go through and if if they’re a good one that they do their due diligence they talk to the players they talk to everything and he analyzed and made a decision based off of what he thought and talking to everybody else and I’m I’m sure that Tom Golardi was also a part of that as well but the the thing that he he also said is he really wanted to make sure that he listened to the players as well and the especially like Jay Gunger for example Jay Gottener has a lot of say right now as well because he’s going to be around for eight years you know god forbid he gets traded or anything like that but his you know $8 million deer deal uh starts up this this next uh off you know July 1st so that’s going to be uh it’s it’s really interesting to hear him uh kind of talk about the player exit interviews and the the other thing I was also thinking about is and not to downplay some of the other players but if it was players like Colin Blackwell or Brendan Smith or you know some of the the guys in the bottom half of the roster in terms of like Tom on Ice then I don’t think Neil would have listened to it as much but from what it sounds like and what I I am also assuming and speculating on is that it was leaders in the locker room and it wasn’t just like one or two it’s it from what it felt like and how he was talking about it it’s it said it was it felt like that there were numerous people and numerous players saying that they were upset with how Pete Dbor kind of handled uh game five and maybe not even game five but even before that too so uh I I thought that that was very interesting to to hear Neil kind of emphasize that a little bit is that the the players needed to have a voice and and I thought that was really interesting but I also do like in the fact that unlike Pete D’Vor who some people are pointing at him and saying he wasn’t taking responsibility as much for the loss and throwing it all on Jay Gottener more so is he emphasized that it was his responsibility as GM to figure out what was going on and I absolutely love that that that I mean it’s like you you realize that there’s a problem and instead of just sticking with the same problem you made a move to fix it and he you felt like this was the right decision to make and he said it was time for a new voice new voice he talked about saying he said new voice in in the uh the presser he also mentioned that in the statement that was released on social media and to uh uh just regular media in general and then he even uh there were even some reporters in the room who used the the term new voice as well and the he also said that there was a needed next step for this team as well that there and I mean it’s obvious what the step is the step is is to get to the Western Conference final or the Stanley Cup final at the very least like this team should not be bowing out in the Western Conference final three years in a row and and to to Nell’s credit that I I completely agreed with him in a lot of the stuff uh that he said now he is a very good lawyer uh he was very careful about some of the things that he did say as well and how he worded it and and we and that’s kind of our job as podcasters and as media personnel is to kind of dig into it a little bit more and try and find something there that might or might not be there but he was very careful not to say that Pete Dbor lost the room uh but he did acknowledge that it was a grind especially from the foreign nations break and onward and that Dborah had pushed the team as far as he could and what I I I felt so validated in hearing nil say it that way because one of the things I I talked about and I also uh you know uh re put it up on on X was that I wasn’t necessarily frustrated with the the poll that he did that Pete Dbor did um I I was I was upset with the comments he made and maybe the way that he did it and you know yelling at him and he was just you know frustrated and he was in the moment and everything but it felt like everything had been done and he didn’t have any answers like he had tried everything and he didn’t know what else to do and when you’re at that point when your answer or your move is to you know leave you know leave a 20 goal scorer and of Guinea Donov off the roster for game four and game five and also pull your number one net minder seven minutes into the first period that’s your answer then there needs to be a shakeup in terms of the top decision maker at the head coaching position that was just the way that I read it right off the bat and I’m not sure if Neil felt the same way immediately after game five against the Oilers but he did say that here today that he felt you know Dbor had done everything that he had he could have done and um one of the interesting things I actually thought about was uh you know everyone talks about how great Paul Maurice is as a coach he’s the head coach of the Florida Panthers well what he where he was beforehand was Winnipeg and after he left Winnipeg it was actually Rick Bonus who went in there and kind of changed the makeup of the locker room and fixed some of the toxicity and the negativity in that locker room in Winnipeg and Paul Maurice said on his way out that he had done everything that he had he could he could think of and everything he could have done and he said that the Winnipeg locker room needed a new voice and he basically took himself off the job basically fired himself which depending on how you look at it that could be a positive thing or a negative thing doesn’t matter the the point is is that it it’s very different how Paul Maurice left Winnipeg and how Pete Dbor is leaving Dallas it it almost feels like at this point and I we we can speculate about this is that after game five after they lost game five Pete Dbor knew that his time in Dallas was imminent it was done and based off of you know you could point at the comments that he made about Auter postgame five and then two days later he doubled down on that on Saturday saying you know Auter just I mean these things are still here um you could say and speculate that he knew that he was done and if that’s true then I I hate the way that Pete Dbor left i really do and it kind of sucks that that’s the decision he made if it was the decision that he made um and then the I was going to ask the question but then someone else beat me to it and it was it led to this answer but uh the move was not a reactionary decision based solely on the Edmonton series or the comments about Jay Cotttinger or the goalie poll and Jim Nil made it very clear that this was a full season multi-year evaluation of Pete Dbor as a head coach so was the the whole Otter Dbor game five fallout a factor neil actually did say and he said quote it was one component but not the decisive factor that that’s what he specifically said that he said one component of the entire thing and I acknowledged that too that that’s what I expected him to say cuz you don’t just fire a coach based off of comments that he made like that um that relationship could have been mended in my opinion uh these guys are professionals jay Gotenjury is Pete Dboris and you know it could it could have been uh solidified but it there were numerous other factors that he talked about and he and Jim Neil also acknowledged that Dbor’s postgame comments about Jake Gotener were not ideal and I think he used the word remorseful uh you know Pete Dbor was remorseful in the way that he handled that and I don’t I I think if you talk to anybody everyone will agree that that was not the right way to handle it and again that leads to the speculation as to well maybe he knew he was just out um I I I don’t believe that to be honest i don’t think he he knew he was out because when you look at what Tom Gardi did literally the next day I don’t know if it was on a podcast or I think it actually it was with uh Tim Kashaw of Dallas Morning News he he said that Pete Deborah is returning so then some of the other questions was you know what changed between last Friday when uh when Tom Golardi made that statement and then today and it it again it’s just it was just a overview of the season and with Jim Nil talking to people that he trusts in the organization the players uh Tom Galardi whoever else and that’s when he decided that there needed to be a change made in the room and the other thing that a lot of people also pointed to and he was asked about this Jim No was was uh the fact that the Boore had not talked to Jay Gottinger even on Saturday so you know about the whole situation and Jim Neil was not surprised that Pete Dborah hadn’t spoken to Jake uh immediately after the loss he he kind of cited that uh the emotional exhaustion after a really deep playoff run was probably the reason why and but the in the back of my mind is like I I get both sides but the thing for me was is you couldn’t have at least told Jake “Hey can we air the dirty laundry out can we meet together at like you know a certain time on this day uh before it goes before we go forward with the media?” or e even if even if they talked after the exit interviews like you know Saturday afternoon after everyone had already talked or even during this week or something that would have been nice for Dbor to handle it and he did not handle any of that in in the right uh way in my personal opinion and Jim N agreed with a lot of people on the fact that uh he he didn’t think that that was the right way to handle that whole situation um I want to talk about player input for a second because that’s going to be a a huge talking point as well because that was one of the things that Tim Kashaw also uh he he kind of talked about the fact that you know there it was on the table that you know between Tom Galardi and Jim Nil that they were discussing all of this about Pete Debor you know coming back or not and there were reports from David Pagnoda and I believe Elliot Friedman I’m not sure if Elliot Freeman was jumping on uh David Pagnot’s bandwagon or whatever but that that the players were really upset with how that whole situation was handled and for Jimnil acknowledging that he took feedback from the players it was absolutely considered but and he he carefully weighed uh but he acknowledged the risk of some self-serving player comments as well and he he said that he kind of trusts his ability to kind of distinguish uh sincere input from quote unquote noise is what he he mentioned it and to be honest with you I trust Jim no I do uh there’s there’s a reason why he’s the back-to-back uh GM of the the year award winner i don’t think he’s going to win it this year though i think Bill ZTO is going to win it but uh it is what it is and then there was also the question about uh there was a question about culture and the culture of the room is strong is what he said and the the other thing he mentioned is when players come in one of the first things I talk about is how how strong the room is and how highly regarded the room is by new players coming in whether that was Greenland or CC or Rantin or whoever and Neil just kind of threw cold water on that and said you know I don’t really see a culture problem here at all it’s just just not there um there was some other stuff as well here during the the uh press conference and I just want to go through some of these fairly quickly i don’t have a whole lot of time here with you guys uh today but y’all let me know what you guys think leave your comments down in the comment section down below if we have time we’ll try to get to it um he said he didn’t believe that uh Dborah’s ceiling was the conference finals that was something that was also discussed and he believed that Pete Dbor eventually will win a Stanley Cup and he said uh unfortunately it won’t be with D with us but he thinks that DBR will eventually win one um and the other thing that he talked about is he he talked about that they need to be open to different styles and different ways of doing things and I don’t I mean reading into it you can kind of say that that was a little bit of a shot at uh Pete Dbor but regardless it’s true it’s true they they need to discover different ways of you know offensive and puck moving strategies in the playoffs that that that’s been the biggest thing the last two years is that goal scoring was a huge issue in the playoffs and it even got to the point to where that the defense was even an issue for the Dallas Stars in in game five it was terrible the the two goals that Otter led in one was Cory Perry completely by himself in the slot and got a tip with nobody no Dallas star within three feet of him and then the other one was a breakaway by my TSN mark so it was just a broken play both times and I mean I don’t blame Otter for either one of those do you want him to make one of them yeah but the the real issue for this team in the playoffs the last two seasons and maybe you I I’d have to go back to the Bor’s first year but I it’s it offense in the playoffs it it’s not offense in the regular season it’s offense in the playoffs so that’s something Jim Nell is being open-minded that was a word that he talked about a lot was being open-minded about trying new things and new strategies with the same players um that being said I do not believe that they are going to completely overhaul the way they play i think they are going to make some slight adjustments with the head coach that they decide to go with and so I I expect it to be someone in similar style to Pete Dbor but maybe willing to make a couple of adjustments that Pete Dbor was unwilling to do uh in in my personal opinion uh okay so he was also asked about uh the the the head coach uh search as well and what it’s going to look like and and again I I kind of alluded to it already but open-minded was a word that kept popping up during the press conference and he said that not just internal candidates but also external candidates will be uh considered as well that there’s and he also pushed that there was no automatic preference for a you know like a veteran co coach like a Paul Maurice or Bruce Bedro or you know or you know guys who are might actually be available like a Gerard Golant or a Peter Laviolet uh but he’s also you know open to looking at some of the the young more modern coaches that are out there on the radar and he’s just keeping all of his options open which is good i mean when you look at the coach that Pittsburgh just hired he’s 42 years old that’s not much older than Sydney Crosby is so I I think that’s something that’s going to be a push by Jim Nil he’s he’s going to keep that option open and with that being said there was a lot of eludedness to Neil Graham during the press conference and yes most of it was kind of softball questions or just questions in general from the the media asking him uh about internal candidates i think Taylor made had a really good question about internal candidates being considered cuz like Ela Nazerdine has been a coach in the past uh head coach in the past uh the the D coach for the Stars um obviously uh you know some some other guys maybe maybe Steve Spotwood could be the head coach i doubt it but maybe uh but Neil Graham was alluded to a whole lot in in the press conference and uh you know Robert Tiffen of uh Stars Thoughts uh did had a really good question he just flat out said you know do you think he will be considered for the job and uh what Nil did is he praised him for his uh his track record of developing and also winning at the same time there’s a winning pedigree and I mean they’re still playing right now game five of the AHL Western Conference final is tonight uh now they are down three to one but the fact is is he’s a new coach he’s a younger coach he’s someone that is familiar with the the system that Pete Dbor implemented and there’s a lot of similarities in the the way that Graham does things and the way that Pete Dbor does things and that that can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it personally for me I think it’s a very good thing because I I think with him being a younger coach he can take I if he is the choice which I if I was a betting man I would put money on Neil Graham being the next head coach of the Dallas Stars i I have no confirmation no insider knowledge about any of that that would just be my guess based off of what I heard the feeling in the room and then there was even a point where nobody was even mentioning the Texas Stars like no one was talking about the Texas Stars and uh Jim Nil himself actually brought it up brought up the Texas Stars and started discussing about how they were still going so I think there’s a lot of smoke there i think there’s a lot of smoke there for Neil Graham being the next head coach it it I I need to go into a deeper dive about how Neil Graham does things um but what’s awesome about all of this is that maybe even Chris chris is going to be at uh the HB Center here tonight and maybe he can ask uh Neil Graham about the the whole thing there and I’m sure it’ll be probably a better time if uh if they lose tonight the Texas Stars but that would be interesting if Chris could get a question in asking him about it so uh he also talked about you know maybe European coaches could could be considered as well but he really thinks that there needs to be some sort of NHL experience with an with a European coach but uh the other thing he talked about and this is the thing that a lot of fans would will not like to hear is that he acknowledged that there are risks of changing too much right so he already made the big change this is the big change i feel like I don’t think there is another huge giant change or a big trade coming from Jim Nell um he kind of referenced the lessons that he learned from his Detroit days uh where there was sometimes some overreacting to some playoff losses and he said that his goal is to kind of maintain the culture while trying to evolve the the play style as well so that’s kind of where he where Jim Nil is at in in terms of balancing the stability and the change of this team uh just a couple of offseason notes and some roster notes uh obviously the the coaching search is beginning immediately uh he said probably about two to three weeks he’ll see everybody again uh and he also acknowledged that they’re going to have some cap uh challenges here uh for the next couple of weeks to kind of decide who stays and who goes uh he was asked about Jason Robertson but that was kind of a nothing question because he can’t really talk with Jason Robertson about an extension until July 1st but apparently he is a priority to keep long term uh Jim Nil was also asked about Jamie Ben who we’ve been talking about and whether uh you know because he Jim Nil said that as long as he’s a GM of the Dallas Stars uh Jamie Ben will be a Dallas Star and he was asked if that has that comment has changed and he said “Nope absolutely has not.” And he talked about how some of the the the bonusbased flexibility with Jaime Ben being over the age of 35 now how that kind of helps with in terms of cap space um and then he was also asked about Miko Rantin as well and he was described as a huge big centerpiece and something that was actually really interesting to hear from Jimnell was also to hear him praise Mo for his leadership his preparation and for his discipline despite coming into a crazy situation like he was so uh that was really interesting to hear like you know yeah I’ve really been pushing the whole Wyatt Johnson is the next captain of this team uh nonsense but maybe it’s Mo Ransin based off of that comment that Jim Null uh said uh and then just a couple of injury updates for you guys as well uh there’s three in particular uh Tyler Sean he had sold he had a shoulder injury and he’s going to rehab it over the summer uh Robe Hence of course that was already kind of talked about in the exit interviews but he kind of doubled down saying that uh there was a broken foot that led to uh well this part we didn’t know but we knew about the broken foot but we didn’t know about the severe bleeding that he was having and uh that’s why he missed game three was they just couldn’t get the foot to stop bleeding which uh which is very concerning if you’re Robin or anybody honestly um and then he also talked about uh Liam Bishell and there’s there’s a clip that’s been going around X today of him you know sliding into the boards and then getting crushed by somebody uh and you know the that’s obviously was the thing that uh Leon has been dealing with throughout the playoffs and he also mentioned that Leam Bishel also has an ankle plate and uh he is having that removed actually today so I don’t know if that’s already happened today or not but uh there was just a general note of that there were several players that played through very significant injuries uh through the postseason and obviously uh Robertson I think he said it was an MCL sprain if I remember correctly so uh I again so lots of injury front uh there now a couple of other things is uh just some other newsworthy nuggets I want to give you guys is he expects it to be a very hectic uh next three weeks for this this franchise and it’s going to be crazy uh moving forward but uh he also cited that the Edmonton Oilers defensive growth as a model was for team evolution so maybe that’s something that he’s kind of looking for in a head coach he’s looking for some evolution in terms of defense and you know and I I’ll steal Led’s uh you know he he hates it is the whole man-on-man coverage in the defensive zone once the other team is set up uh Cred Lugwid hates that and you know maybe that’s something that Jimnil is looking into as well moving forward is that that’s got to be something different there’s got to be something that they can change to make it uh make that growth on the defensive side of the game better um and then he also again he thought it was a necessary decision to fire Pete Dbor uh even though he made three straight conference finals and so he said it was a very difficult decision for him to come to and the the the other thing I also kind of want to point out too is that I think some people are going to read into this is that oh well they’re going to talk about how uh you know it’s really Tom Galardi who’s making that decision to to get rid of Pete Dor but Tom Galardi wasn’t mentioned almost ever during the the presser here today so want to leave that little nugget out there for you guys uh just so you can look and see uh but I mean this is a gymn decision it’s still his decision and you know good for him to live by it um that’s that’s something that uh I felt like needed to change and as as excited as I am and I I have a sense of renewal today and especially as a fan and if I’m feeling that I’m hoping that the stars are also feeling it that way as well um cuz you know for the players that didn’t really have a problem with Pete Dbor they can look at this as a learning experience and be like “Oh oh man we really got this guy fired uh like he we didn’t play well enough.” And even though Pete Dbor is the one who gets canned today it does still rely a lot on the players to go out and execute that that that’s another big word that I kept talking about uh in our AGR after game five was they they did all the right stuff there was a lot of things they did really well they didn’t execute and that’s something that is going to have to change it that that that’s something that Edmonton did really really well is and Chris and I argued about it a little bit after game five and that who like who was truly the better team in some of these games and I understood his his argument with you know the Stars were getting a lot of good shots and a lot of good opportunities and stuff like that but at the end of the day whoever scores the most goals is is the better team regardless of what happens and in terms of you know advanced analytics or anything like that so the take it as you as as you would but lots of things going on in the Stars universe here over the next couple of weeks so let me look at some of y’all’s comments and uh then we’ll move on and we’ll we’ll talk to you guys again here uh very soon but uh Nate saying “Can’t believe they actually did it.” That was something else that I was actually very surprised about as well is I I was shocked that was the word I would use to be described uh by for my reaction darren was very surprised as well um he’s also sounded like a culmination of things from the season per gems conference yep we talked about that pretty much um Nate also saying “Yeah I noticed he confirmed Jake wasn’t happy with Pete piling on him.” And and that was a word that I think it was Robert Tiffen noticed and he said that you know other than the word uh you know open-minded in terms of a co coaching church that was the other word that Robert kind of took out he the piling on that uh Pete Dbor was doing on uh Jay Cottoner was not good and that Jake wasn’t happy about it so um Sarah Mulaney hello Sarah uh I took today off enjoying the drama i hate drama but I in terms of this I I hate that it happened to Pete Dbor but I I think this is the right decision i I I truly truly believe that and uh I actually actually texted Ralph Stranges and asked him uh what he thought uh cuz he came out a couple of you know I think it was a article that he did for Ralph Cast and said that you know this is not the right decision to make to fire Pete Dbor right now and I asked him if it was if he still felt the same way uh and he said yeah I’m I’m going to stick by it so let’s see uh Darren Smith they have to score and abandon man defense and that was something I I mentioned earlier just a second ago and then uh this was another thing this was the first thought I had and why I think Neil Graham is going to be the next head coach it it makes too much sense he Jim Nil was there for game uh three i can’t remember if it was game three or game four maybe he was there for both um uh he is going to be there tonight as well he’s already uh probably driving on his way down to Cedar Park but uh Motto saying nil must already have his eye on someone and that was my biggest point with all of this is that Pete Dbor and Jay Gottener could have solidified that relationship and fix that relationship but you don’t make a decision like this especially after most of the head coaching vacancies have already been uh you know filled up unless you have a plan B already ready to go in place and I think the reason why we don’t know what plan B is because it’s Neil Graham and we’re not going to know anything like about that until the AHL season is over for the Texas Stars i hope it’s not over tonight that’s you know my personal hope for the uh for the the the guys down there but I I think that’s why uh the decision was made i I I think that Jim Nil has had discussions with uh Neil Graham about you know moving forward and becoming the next head coach of the Dallas Stars but uh again that’s pure speculation that is just what I am uh assuming because it it makes too much sense uh as as to why they would fire Pete Dbor now it just seems very very very very strange um Pete totally lost the room TC says okay um I don’t know yeah I I I’m going to lean towards the fact that Jim Niels said he didn’t lose the room but again he that he’s just trying to save face a little bit and trying to uh you not you know not pile on Pete D’Vor uh with with his firing today like Pete D’Vor did to Auter um I’m sure Otter didn’t go to Jim i bet afterwards Jim went to him and asked about it during his due diligence after the season that’s a very good point too uh I I I believe that he did uh Otter is a very big part of this team and the success of this team and a future of this team moving forward and you he has to be happy you have to make Jay Goter happy in order to have success and win the Stanley Cup so um let’s see what else we got here uh Darren Smith uh is this the tea you give to a new Oh is this the team that you give to a new NHL coach um that is also a very valid question and a lot of people and a lot of people are asking the same question uh there’s pros and cons to both sides my thing is is that he already knows this team he already knows the system that he wants to put into place if it’s Neil if it is Neil Graham and I mean Edmonton is a perfect example of why I’m not worried about it because Chris Nolock comes in after Jay Woodcraft gets fired in Edmonton after that atrocious start to the season they had last year and they go all the way to the Stanley Cup final and they were literally one or two goals away from winning the Stanley Cup and right now they’re three wins away they’re closer to winning the Stanley Cup than the Florida Panthers are at the time I’m recording this so if Chris Noble can do it why not Neil Grant just uh just an idea um and let’s see if it ends and it’s not announced shortly after it’s not Graham see I understand that thinking but I also disagree with it too i I think that the if if I’m if I’m Jim Neil right now he Neil Graham is the leader the leading candidate in my mind to take over this team but you also again I’ll use the the two words due diligence you got to use your due diligence to look out there and see what other people are out there because there there are some very good candidates and uh I mean one of the candidates that the DL DLLS guys were talking about and specifically Luds was talking about you know Steve i mean how cool would that be just from a fan perspective we’d have two otters back in Dallas that’ll be amazing and it will be awesome I if he is able to come back but that’s not how Jim Nil does things he has changed his philosophy a little bit in how he goes after guys how he makes big trades he’s been more liberal in trading his first round picks away this has been something that has been consistent from the beginning ever since he got here was he does his due diligence when making a huge decision like this and he already made the even bigger decision in getting rid of uh Pete Dbor so I’m just I understand the thinking Darren i I I really truly do but I don’t think that that’s the case and he also said that he’s going to give it two to three weeks uh before you know we hear anything about a new head coach so that will I I’m going to lean back on Jim Mill’s word i’m going to take his word at it that we’re not going to be back in like two days or uh you know a week or whatever and you know Neil Graham is going to be announced as the as the coach i I think it’s going to still be two to three weeks and I do think it’s going to be before the uh the word just went straight out of my head uh the before free agency opens on July 1st i I I think that’s the deadline and I even think you need to give yourself even more of a head start before that so I would give myself I don’t know at least a week so that you can talk to the guys who are unsure about who the next head coach is going to be and let them talk to whoever it is Neil Graham Peter Laviolet uh Steve whoever um about all of that stuff uh but you know I don’t know we’ll just have to wait and see okay uh I am going to go ahead and jump off here uh I am very tired it’s been a long day uh doing this and driving around and doing some other things as well so uh thank you guys so much for your comments uh if you are listening or uh or if you are watching on YouTube uh you know kind of you know talk to us on social media uh at Sarcastic Ronx or you know on Facebook or whatever who do you think the next head coach of the Dallas Stars is going to be is it going to be Neil Graham is it going to be are they going to go the veteran route again and do Peter Laviolet or uh Gerard Galant or something like that or is it going to be somebody that absolutely nobody is talking about maybe Jay Woodcraft for example i since I mentioned him in this episode so yeah y’all let me know that let us know that there’s going to be a lot of other content coming out about this moving forward in the coming weeks we’re really excited to see what Jim Nil is going to do and who he’s going to decide uh is going to be the next head coach of the Dallas Stars alongside nobody else today my name’s Ryan uh I will catch you guys on the flip side and I hope you guys have a good fantastic morning afternoon evening whenever you guys are listening go and check out Texas Stars tonight let’s see if they can get a win and force a game six back in Abbottzford go Texas Stars [Music]

The cool thing about Neil Graham is that he started out as a player/coach in Idaho and has worked his way up. He's the guy I'm rooting for.
What a dumb move. Oh no, he said the guy being paid to make saves, should make saves. Waaaaaaaaa.
