hanging tight versus the green light inside Dallas Cowboys mini camp day one uh we uh had the pleasure of hanging out with Shotti this morning and then watching practice today and we’ve got a gigantic Cowboy notebook for you so straight dope no bullsh pull out your number two pencils if you’d like to take notes and let’s go item one Micah Parsons quote after practice Jerry Jones is the one who gives the green light talking about the contract of course he’s pretty much what it takes to get anything done around here it’s up to him there’s the six bombs on the wall what does that mean it means that where they were six weeks ago Jerry and Micah and Stephen and Micah having conversations about five years 40 million a year probably more than that now as we keep waiting and $200 million or so total maybe a little more than that that’s where they were six weeks ago and that’s not bad except that’s still where they are micah is waiting for the green light so what does this mean for holdins and hold outs in camp he says “I’m going to keep playing football i’m going to keep showing up and preparing like any other year.” So that’s a promise for this week for Micah he went on to talk about Oxnard and suggested that he is going to Oxnard now what he’ll do there depending on his contractual situation that’s not yet been determined in his mind what we have here because the plan today was for Micah to do something on the field shotty said “Oh yeah he’ll he’ll be doing some things on the field.” And then to my eye he didn’t do very much later in the day Micah suggested “Yeah you know I’d worked out with Trayvon on Monday and I got a little back soreness.” You know what that is you know what that is in the parliament nobody’s saying it i’ll say it that’s a hold in i’m at I’m at mini camp it’s mandatory i’m not going to get fined i’m out there in the field i’m jogging around a little bit i’m in the meetings helping bonding culture but my back’s a little sore that’s a hold in that’s exactly what it is if the Cowboys would have had a real practice today and Micah had a $200 million contract or if there was a game tomorrow Micah’s back wouldn’t have been as sore you think i think back tightness uh item so 25 minutes or so there’s Micah out at the workout and here comes old Jerry and they meet out there on the field 25 minutes and Michael later said that they did not talk contract they talked about life and love and the pursuit of happiness there the good news is there is clearly a bond there they are they are on the same pageesque and it’s better than TJ Watt Terry McLuren or Trey Hendrickson who are in similar situations and they’re they’re not showing up for work in their respective cities so good on Jerry for that he developed a relationship with Micah Parsons where we’re getting along okay bad on Jerry because exclusive exclusive you ready for this six weeks ago is when Micah after negotiating really with the Joneses said “Okay sounds good take to my agent.” Once a player according to the CBA tells the team “Hey we can talk it’s been great that we’ve been talking now we have to take it to my agent now you have to take it to the agent when the next conversation has to be with the agent in fact by CBA law Jerry is not allowed to talk contract with Micah today so it’s a good thing that Micah said that they didn’t that would have been a problem but when Micah says this is in the ball’s in Jerry’s court it’s agre it’s up to him he is saying we have laid the groundwork i have asked the Joneses now to call my agent and without saying the other part he’s saying and the Joneses haven’t called my agent george Pickkins looked really good today and I know it’s the underwear Olympics he’s a very tough guard michael Cox Uncle Fish Premium is the agent holding this up obviously David M could call the Cowboys but Micah with this great relationship he has with the Joneses has very specifically said “Call my agent.” And they haven’t done it hard to guard GP3 today um and it does look like there’s a there’s a devel and these things take time but it’s gone fast the the chemistry with Dak that the work is showing The work is showing good day for George Pickkins now somebody on Twitter I think it was one of the DallasCowboys.com guys said “Yeah and Pickkins beat Izzy.” And then Izzy comes right back on Twitter and says “Why don’t you point out the fact that I did Izzy don’t do that don’t bother with that you’re gonna You’re just a young man you’re going to get gray hair if you’re looking at Twitter like way too many Cowboys have done in the last 15 years looking at Twitter to see what everybody says about you if you think you had a good practice and your coaches think you had a good practice what in the world does it matter that whether Dallas Cowboys.com or the Fisher report or Cowboys what doesn’t matter what we think you had a good practice and your coaches told you had a good practice the end we’ve been talking about Jonathan Mingo i haven’t seen him do much in our OTAA time i haven’t seen him do anything you did notice him today um caught a deep ball in traffic he looked the part today we’re still not anywhere near what the Cowboys claimed on Jonathan we’re going to put in a Mingo package they they never even play Never even got in the game hardly we’ll see if he at least he got into practice today that’s a start um Izzy by the way I talked the other day about bumping in socially to uh the rookie Rell and he he he just he looks like he’s he’s 6’3 200 he just looks like this massive man but nothing’s quite like Izzy a 6’4 cornerback and he played on the outside today and then Bland played in the slot and Elim was good again the Cowboys so far are right on Elim they traded a penny to the Bills to get a bust first round pick and he looks like a real live again under our Olympics looks like a real live start playmaking starting quarterback right now um had a pass breakup thought he should have interceptioned it when he didn’t hang on to it he punishes himself with push-ups dak Prescott I think this comes from Nick Harris uh it used to be Rick Goslin at practice uh Rick it’ be it’d be Kashaw and me and Richie Wit and Rick Goslin and and Rick Goslin would have all these colored pencils goose what are you doing well I’m charting the he and he has stopwatch goose what are you doing well he’s he was charting at training camp like he was timing the punts and then charting with colored mark colored pencils completions incompletions draw and listen he’s a legendary guy i I I was certainly did my best to be friendly with Goose but I I never did break it to him that while he’s over there timing the punt hang time with his stopwatch and trying to catch all the punt I just went to Joe Azano after practice and asked him to give me give me that give me the results of the punting competition but but listen like Jimmy said uh you can work hard like a mule or you can work hard like a thorbred i consider myself a thoroughbred so somebody today charted the Dak throws i think it was Nick and he said uh he’s either Nick or Tommy 17 for 19 in team
