  1. And this is why no one wants to play here. We went Toronto people, stop acting like it. Not to mention he’s from Edmonton.

  2. I mean not surprised just look at the oilers subreddit. Filled of crazies who blame stu for breathing even. You can always tell who’s played hockey and who hasn’t. Very sad

  3. Commenting on the hashtag usage and ignoring the death threats to a family is certainly a choice

  4. You win as a team or lose as a team. I know skinner has had some rough moments, but he’s really surprised me this season. He’s played pretty consistent and has given his team chances to win. What do people expect?

  5. That’s so fucking wrong. Even as someone who loves sports, at the end of the day it literally is just a game. There’s no appropriate occasion for death threats in sports, especially when the dude was clearly trying hard.

  6. Bunch of losers who take this game way too serious if they are doing this type of garbage. Leave the guy and his family alone.

  7. A lot of those goals last game weren’t even really his fault this is ridiculous

  8. People do realize it’s the players in the team that win the cup and not the fans, right?

The players get the fame, the glory, the banner, the ring, the name on the cup and the parade…..the fans go back to work then get mad when the team sucks again in 5-10 years. They win, you don’t.

  9. Oilers fans are as classy as ever on the internet I see. It’s crazy really, I’ve met SO many Oilers fans coming down from Edmonton over the years and they have all been so great. On the internet it’s the complete opposite. I hate the internet

  10. 110% wasn’t entirely his fault.Shit happens and it’s just a game. This shit is NOT life or death

  11. Win game 1, they have every chance to win game 2 as it goes to 2OT and then a 6-1 thumping in game 3 where goaltending doesn’t even matter at that juncture if you can’t score more than 1. Just unhinged behavior any way you cut it.

  12. Ffs I despise the Oilers and think Skinner is a sieve but my goodness, absolutely no one deserves death threats over a game. Why are people such assholes?

  13. How sad & pathetic must your life be to do some unhinged shit like this? We all love sports but it has literally zero impact on your life. To get this upset about a game is so far beyond pathetic.

  14. I understand being mad at the team you cheer for. I do not understand or can ever relate to getting so mad to the point of threatening a player and their family??? The game is just not that important. Are we serious??

  15. Appalling.

    People just can’t control themselves.

If I were famous, I’d ask my entire family to not be on insta and such.

  16. This story is fucked up and terrible, but the graphic design choice is objectively hilarious

  17. I cannot fathom the mindset one must be afflicted with that would compel them to threaten to kill an athlete who disappointed them with his performance. Let alone threatening his family. Especially when the athlete is playing the best he can, and wants to win even more than the fan. And has more to lose. It’s certainly not as if the athlete was intentionally trying to lose.

Then again, the word “fan” does come from “fanatic.”

  18. This just happened to Lance Mcullers, pitcher on the Houston Astros a few weeks ago. Shit never needs to go that far

  19. Terrible and hopefully those responsible can be held accountable somehow. Not fair to blame the Oilers fandom for this. The damage that a literal dozen people can do is unfortunate, but not the responsibility of the other 99.9% of fans.

  20. Boo, jeer, chant, make your voice known. But throwing shit at players and making threats against them and their families crosses a big line.

  21. dear (some) oilers fans, fuck you

it’s a god damn game stop acting like children. be excited, be heartbroken but it’s just a game, if it leads to violence you need to stop watching your too fucking into it and addicted

  22. Although it was a 6-1 result, I feel like the outcome of the game was more on the fact that the Oilers spent most of it on the penalty kill.
