three-game series against the detroit tigers at oral park at camden yards and uh yeah uh this uh this particular game is being called uh under two special circumstances number one uh in memory of brian wilson rest in peace brian wilson uh i’ll probably be talking about him for half of this ball game so be prepared for that secondly it’s a bit of a protest uh to uh what the orioles uh ownership feels is a priority for this organization right now which is uh to build uh you know some stupid overpriced starbucks in the middle of uh the ballpark so people can apparently just sit with their backs to the field for $500 dollars a pop or whatever it is uh yeah i we can’t uh we can’t uh you know offer an contract extension any of our players apparently but uh hey we’re willing to have a nice little area for people who aren’t really baseball fans or maybe some corporate sponsors can come in and have a nice little event uh you know some hobnobbing some deal m some wheeling and dealing could go on in a place like this folks it’s not just about the the the shrimp uh on the uh buffet over there no this is uh there’s a there’s a lot there’s a lot good about uh this right anyway we got a ball game tonight uh so i guess i need to do my uh my due diligence here and get into the information uh the orioles lost the first game of this three-game series against the tigers detroit’s 20 games over 500 best record in baseball and tonight they’ve got a pitcher who with a record of 6 and one and an erra of 2.91 casey mai this guy was a i believe a number one overall pick as a pitcher when he was selected i don’t know some six years ago or so uh took him a while to uh grow into the number one overall pitching prospect that he uh was uh but he’s putting up numbers like one uh this season a breakout season for casey mai six-1 with a 2.91 ra he’ll be up against zack efflin effin has a 5-2 record with an ra of 4.47 uh for the visiting tigers the lineup looks like this i say looks like this and in order to buy me a few seconds to get the page up all right parker meadows will lead off and play center field glabber torres will bat second and play second carrie carpenter who was out of the lineup last night is back in there hitting third and dhing riley green moves down to the cleanup spot he’s in left field spencer torqulson is in is at first base batting fifth wincio perez who had a big game last night he’s in right field batting sixth colt keith makes his first start of the series at third base hitting seventh jake rogers will do the catching tonight and bat eighth and zack mckinstry who was at third base last night moves over to shortstop and bats ninth for the orioles what i have to say is probably the strongest lineup this team can put together uh injuries or not uh we’ve got jackson holiday leading off and playing second base adley rutman will do the catching and bat second gunner henderson will hit third and play shorts stop ryan o’harn is at first base and the cleanup hitter jordan westberg’s going to dh and bat fifth colton cowser will hit sixth and play in left field raone lauraniano will bat seventh and play right field said mullins is back in the field and center he’ll hit eighth and finally ramon aras back in the lineup tonight uh kobe mayo the only real change aras in playing third mayo uh is out and aras batting ninth so there is your lineup pretty strong again tyler o’neal and gary sanchez are in rehab assignments and jorge matteo by the way jorge mateo has landed on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation so uh luis vasquez has been called up from triple a to fill in as the sort of middle infield backup guy uh he doesn’t offer the the speed tool that matteo does but we do need somebody that can uh back up at our middle infield positions and uh we’re going with luis vasquez for now and that pretty much wraps up things in terms of uh news since uh yesterday’s ball game unless you want to talk more about this uh this luxury box uh plan thing they got going on here hey i’m already excited look i’m here i’m sitting here it’s great folks opening in 2026 this immense indooroutdoor experience located behind home plate stick with morton because i don’t think the orioles they’re going to do the same thing with kimbell they’re not going to just say “hey we made a bad signing.” and move on they’re going to just keep trottting them out there to try and salvage something out of what everybody is already uh you know we already know it’s a bad signing folks we need some positivity but i got to be honest i just lost one of my heroes okay brian wilson has passed away at the age of 82 uh there aren’t many uh artists out there musicians or otherwise that i feel have given so much positive light sunshine to this world it’s a pretty dark world folks and uh you know you got you got some artists out there over the years that have contributed so much and a lot of these artists you know they pay a sacrifice cuz you know brian wilson had mental health issues well documented there’s a price you pay for being a genius we see examples of this all over the place whether you’re a scientist or an artist uh so many people throughout history have basically sacrificed their lives and their own mental health in order to create something for the rest of the world to enjoy and brian wilson was one of those people and uh it’s just really heartbreaking uh to learn of his passing today we are underway folks baseball in baltimore game two first pitch from effin to austin parker meadows is uh at the bottom of the zone for a called strike and we are underway next pitch is a little bit inside the count even up at one and one i’m still waiting for manscaping to call me for a sponsorship two and one the count on from uh a a waitress uh around the corner $1,000 $1,000 it’s a full count of rhino folks come on that ball’s hitting in the air to center it is going to hang up there meadows with the catch as he sprints in toward the infield and the inning is over the orioles get a runner to second after a walk in a stolen base by gunnar henderson but he’s left stranded we go to the second inning now no score do it who can afford to go to just any old game they won any old time anymore but uh last i checked uh in the 20s 30s 40s 50s 60s,7s 80s any decade you want to pick the owners still make a profit the league goes on but every year the fans uh you know either you’re you know you’re part of a an elite group that money is no object and who cares and those people usually don’t even pay attention to the damn game they’re just looking at their phones and sending out instagram posts going “look at me and where i’m sitting at this ball game.” meanwhile regular fans the dieards what are they doing for us what are they doing three bag $3 bags of popcorn located in two concession stands scattered somewhere around the ballpark you need a treasure map to find them bw is a little pissed two and two the count on riley green beginning the top of the second bw just might need to air it all out tonight and get it all out of his system oh big cuzo believe me that’s what i do i’ve never i’ve never paid for any outlandish one time i splurged on a boogs barbecue sandwich because i had to have it and that was way back like 93 like the year the park opened i had to go out there and get one of them i remember even when camden yards opened you could still in the early years there you could go down to like fels point or somewhere into a into a dive bar with a empty jug an empty like gallon jug like a milk jug and you would hand it over to the bartender and say “fill it up.” and it would be like 10 bucks or something and they would allow you to bring that into the ballpark i remember going with my friend herb uh older guy and yeah that’s what we did we went down to a bar we had a got a couple of crab cake sandwiches and a big old uh jug of tap beer brought it all into the park feasted all game beasted and don’t get me started about the old days where you could just sit back in the bleachers and have yourself a lucky don’t even get me started gaming kitchen you’re in the community we are the last of a dying breed folks we’re an endangered species old school baseball fans yeah we’re kind of getting together in a new school sort of technologydriven sort of a way but that’s the workaround instead of technology using me i’m using technology to help try and uh you know bring an atmosphere of the old days back a little bit yeah it’s just insane i mean folks again this isn’t delving into politics but i’m pretty sure most of you out there are aware of the fact that the average household can’t afford an emergency more than $500 hundreds of millions of americans that if they were hit with a $500 emergency today they would have to go into debt borrow money do something and yet you want us to pay that much to take a family to go see a ball game and then some nights you’re gonna not even uh maybe refund the a family on a night where like you know you play the reds give up 24 runs and have two position players pitching the final two innings you don’t think to maybe compensate those folks they spent a lot of money to come out to watch the product on the field folks bw’s in a bit of a rage tonight jordan westber’s at the plate with two down he’s got a 2-2 count oh maybe there’s not two down i think it’s the second inning there’s nobody out excuse me that two is the inning not the outs that ball’s going to drop into right field westber is thinking two the throw in not in time it’s a hustle double from westy well west is that way oh god i missed this guy on the team i was taking a bath here’s the deal if you love the orioles and the only thing stopping you from going to every game is because it’s just too damn expensive then that’s a problem because your best fans are sitting at home right now watching instead of being there because they can’t afford it those same fans in the 60s and the 70s and the 80s they were there because you gave them an opportunity to afford to do that 10 pitch to cowser is fouled away count even up at a ball on a strike and folks when you go to minor league games minor league games aren’t exactly like you know a $2 raffle ticket basically you go to a minor game now a minor league game and to me you’re paying what should be the price of a major league game you know which is to say affordable not cheap but affordable one and two the count on colton cowser folks [Music] and he takes a pitch just a hair low the count even up at two and two runner at second nobody out for baltimore trying to take the lead swinging a miss cowser chased well he didn’t chase that ball would have hit the bottom inside corner but he missed went away and another situation you get a leadoff double next guy up you just want to make contact give a chance to move that runner over with one out and uh man i don’t know if there’s a team worse than us at that situation but if there is let me know uh raone lauraniano at the plate one out runner at second first pitch is fouled away raone just threw a rock at me lauriano hit cleanup last night against a lefty starter that ball’s lined right back to the pitcher and with the runner off base westber is doubled off at second base to win the inning good grief [Music] yeah so let me talk a little bit about this orioles offense real quick okay because i took a look at where our team rankings were and i posted them in my discord let me bring those up right now and sort of underline what is wrong with our hitting approach that again relies way too much on what they think is good data currently coming into today’s play the orioles offense ranks accordingly in batting average we’re hitting 238 that’s 22nd in baseball out of 30 and runs were 25th out of 30 home runs were 13th on base percentage we’re down to 26th our worst ranking of them all and finally slugging percentage that gets bumped up to middle of the pack at 16th 388 so what does that tell you folks uh we only have two stats were at least in the middle of the pack and it’s home runs and slugging percentage but everything else has suffered in the process so what does that tell you it tells you that this is a team that is focused too heavily on trying to just you know hit the ball as hard as possible it’s all about that exit vo all about that big swing no emphasis on drawing walks that’s why the on base percentage is near the very bottom we’re 25th in runs so even though we’re middle of the pack in home runs and slugging it doesn’t reflect in the runs why because well a lot of those home runs uh come like solo shots because we’re not getting guys on base i mean everything you need to know about what’s wrong with this offense is right there you need to have more patience you need to stop emphasizing i mean folks jacob wilson did anybody watch that sacramento series jacob wilson looks like a guy that’s never going to hit 20 home runs in his career he’s never going to slug 500 even with a 380 batting average all the guy does is just get hits give me a guy like that teach a plate approach like that and i promise you we’ll put up more runs and win more ball games that way a public service announcement from the bird watcher all right one the count how did the first out get made wow i am losing my touch it’s already jake rogers at the plate colt keith has been retired uh keith went down uh with grounding out to shortstop so with one out a 2-1 count now on jake rogers he’s only hitting 139 this pitch is in there for a strike the count is two and two yeah janet i mean it’s the world’s worstkept secret so it’s like you’re seeing the result that’s what i’m saying this is a large enough sample size we’re nearing the halfway point of the season you see what our hitting philosophy has produced in terms of the rankings with other teams it’s not working here’s a ground ball to third aras over to first in time and the inning is not over that’s the second out now look with an approach like the one we try yeah there’s going to be occasional games where we’re going to put like 13 runs up on the board because uh you know either the pitchers is having a bad day or we’re just finally you know just stringing hits together because eventually you get into a run like that but as a practice over the course of 62 games no i don’t agree with our hitting philosophy i think it’s really screwed up uh zack mckenry ball one and now ball two a curve ball low from efflin mckenry hitting 276 he’s up there with two down nobody on top of the third three know the count now and yeah suddenly for yeah suddenly the strike zone uh pretty tight on efflin he doesn’t get a courtesy call same situation last night a pitcher falls behind 3 and 0 throws ball four and it was nowhere near a strike was that the o’harn at bat was that the one where ryan o’harn got screwed well we just saw the opposite play out here for the opponent effin does not get the benefit of the doubt it’s a two out walk and here is meadows up for the second time he shows bunt he gets it down and it’s right to efflin though and he fires to first in time to win the inning thanks meadows so the tigers are still hitless effin did give up a walk it was kind of bs only base runner so far through three innings for detroit as efflin’s only faced one over the minimum now it’s time for the bats we’ve got one hit and then westberg uh what did he do he doubled and then he got yeah he got caught somehow and doubled off that’s right on the off liner on the infield mullins aras and holiday do up lord have mercy i’ll tell you this that rhino hernab bat last night that missed call the one that rob brought up i don’t know about you guys but if tony mancelino is ever going to show that he’s got some fire in him and i think a manager needs to have that element not every manager needs to be lu panella not every manager needs to be aussie gillian and just going ballistic all the time but you want your manager to show a you know something cuz we got hosed we got absolutely hosed on that call and manscolino didn’t didn’t say a peep did not say a peep you think earl weaver would have just sat there quietly after that moment no freaking way frank robinson you think he would have buck shalwater hells no folks said mullen’s first pitch swinging is it a fair ball it is mullins hits the first base bag he’s going for two a little bit of trouble getting the ball out of the corner but said was already sliding into second symbolized but mullins with a base hit 100 miles an hour off the bat a double and that’ll bring up ramon aras okay once again we got a leadoff guy at second can we at least know how to move him over we could do better aras gets into one deep to left field that ball is gone by by rammon they’re hitting him ninth in the order and that’s what our number nine hitter can do when our team is healthy we’ve got pop up and down the lineup it’s two nothing orioles all right oh ho ho it’s magic [Music] let’s see if the homer hose makes an appearance [Music] left out of the lineup in westberg’s first game back it made me feel like oh are you going to do raone wrong you better not raone is an everyday player folks ramon is an everyday player to me westberg should be dhing like he is tonight over a guy like a mayo and your average lineup this like i said tonight’s lineup to me is the strongest lineup we can put out there and what better way to make that point than when the number nine hitter goes deep you’ve got again folks if our guys can just get our act together this team top to bottom has hitters these guys can all hit they can okay so again if this season turns out to where we wind up with middle to we shouldn’t even be middle of the pack in offensive categories here’s a ground ball it’s a fair ball and after initially thinking about going to second base torqulson wisely turns around and gets the easy out at first unassisted put out of rutman one down with a runner at second base now for the orioles yeah doesn’t it though i was thinking the same thing janet for the money you’re paying look at how just if you didn’t know that this very like uh back what where am i pointing like this window right here was the ball game you look like you’re in an airport somewhere waiting for like a a layover you look like you’re in just some podunk hotel lobby area like where’s all the oral like uh they could have at least painted that ceiling with some sort of oral theme it for reus but i’m living in a world right now where i’m willing to maybe let go of one of our bigger younger players if it meant getting an ace in return and then just keeping aras on this infield i like aras as a everyday player it doesn’t seem like he can do anything to ever get the respect to to to get that designation and i’ve seen so many players like him throughout the years it’s just a team just sort of decides without the player allowing them to change their mind uh that this guy’s only good enough for this kind of a role on the team he could never actually outperform whatever our expectations are and he shouldn’t be rewarded for it sometimes it works out i don’t think the orioles thought anthony santandere was going to turn into the player that he turned into but uh anyway we’re in the top of the fourth first pitch is fouled away by glabber torres zack efflin has only thrown 33 pitches through the first three innings that’s 11 per inning here’s a soft one hopper to third aras throws on the run out number one and again folks this lineup tonight it’s not just the bats that i feel is the strongest it’s the defense as well you got an outfield defense with lauriano mullins and cowser i can tell you right now without having to look at every team’s roster that that has got to be a top five defensive outfield in baseball because all three of those guys can get it and other than mullins you got a couple of strong arms out there too uh and then you look at the infield right now obviously gunner uh is sort of flighty but o’harn is i think you know a serviceable first baseman i’d like to see him there more than in right field holiday is definitely improved and uh westber to me uh when he’s in the field pretty solid and of course raone gold glove award winner good defense guys i could totally fix this team with one off season i swear to god i could you give me like four moves you give me four moves and i fix this team one starter one bullpin guy i’m As a disillusioned Royals fan I come here for no stress enjoyment of baseball..especially enjoyable when the Tigers get spanked! & totally agree with you on influencers promoting gambling companies, is exactly the same here in the UK, gambling is an absolute cancer on society! Love the channel!
