Just absolutely crazy how much ESPN cannot let small market teams have a moment. OKC and Indiana are having a great run and this Pacers team is having one of the greatest runs of all time and they’re talking about the Lakers and LeBron the next morning after a huge win in the series.

I’d post the pic but this sub doesn’t allows pics. Here is a link to the pic i have

  1. Are there even other teams in the nba?

Espn acts like every other team is designed to just be part of Bron and the Lakers story

  2. Guys, I joined a “get kicked in the head by a horse” club, and you’ll never believe what happened to me!

  3. I mean they had Lakers great Magic on. And they talked about the Finals game. I don’t see issue

Do you want 7 segments all about the Pacers Thunder? Its fair to ask Magic about Lakers as well

  4. If you haven’t realized it’s only about money yet I don’t know what to tell you haha

  5. Watching ESPN and being shocked they’re focusing on LeBron and the Lakers is sort of like sticking your hand into fire and being shocked you get burned.

  6. Did they talk about the Lakers the entire time, or are you just posting a screenshot without context for rage bait?

  7. I’m a Lakers fan and even I don’t get this, but as a rule of thumb I’m dismissive of pretty much any ESPN coverage outside of actual games.

  8. We also get a lot about the Knicks coaching search. That could be a 5 minute segment at the end of the hour. Not 30 minutes of any hour, leading over the finals…a finals they are broadcasting.

  9. This is why the NFL has always been better than the NBA

Sure the NFL has their Patrick Mahomes/Josh Allen segments , but they’re giving love to teams like the Broncos/Bears/Jaguars

Also this is just a little segment of the show

  10. ESPN is terrible. The Steven A Smith era has absolutely ruined what we know as high quality sports reporting and coverage. Everything is about clicks > substance.

  11. The craziest thing here is the NFL wrote the blueprint for how to succeed with small markets–give them the attention they deserve and they become the Packers and the Steelers. It’s not that hard and it’s literally right in front of their faces!

  12. This is cherry picked … they talked about finals extensively before this one segment

  13. Let’s be fair here, they had Magic Johnson on, of course they will ask about the Lakers.

Now it’s fair to ask if they should have Magic on as the Finals are going on instead of after.

  14. I mean … sure if you cherry pick. The first thing they discussed was Indiana and OKC.

  15. Why is Magic on there? No one wants to hear from him. No wonder why they are talking about the Lakers. It’s the only team he knows

  16. Are you ignoring that ESPN does like 12 segments across get up and first take every morning? Of course they are not all going to be about last nights game.

Post the screenshot of them talking about the game 3

  17. That’s actually crazy considering the potential upset and Cinderella story happening right now

  18. They got rid of actual reporters and journalists. People who can form a thought for screaming heads, bad takes, and thoughtless nonsense. If they didn’t host games there would be no reason to watch. The teams involved have local radio that is better. Their model and direction is garbage.

  19. haven’t seen a espn show in years. is this top of hour first segment or is it a filler segment? cuz the difference is huge.

  20. I mean they have talked about it, you want them to repeat the same 5 things for 6 hours? They have announced magic as being a guest today for a while now, you think hes not gonna talk some about his lakers?

  21. And you sharing it means that that segment succeeded, and more will continue. ESPN isn’t a malevolent actor here, they’re giving the people what they want.

  22. I don’t turn ESPN on unless I have to watch a game there.

And then I’m not happy about it…

  23. It’s so weird that the NFL has no problem with a Kansas City or New Orleans or Green Bay being great. But God forbid the Midwest have a team in the NBA Finals for the first time in 25 years.

  24. NBA media is the worst. The nice thing is the older I get, the less time I have to keep up with NBA media.

  25. Same old shit, they did this non stop when The Raptors, Bucks, and Nuggets were winning championships too.
Just absolutely disgusting the dick riding they do for teams in California and especially for LBJ.
Not to mention how awful the broadcast has been this year. Can they stop paying SAS $20 million dollars a year and maybe spend it on the damn production instead.
What a fucking joke. They only thing ESPN does well is their 30 for 30 series everything else is pure garbage!

  26. It’s their fault that the tv ratings are low for “small market” teams. I would rather see/listen to the home team’s announcers than the garbage they put on espn

  27. NBA Reporters: There’s no popular young players in the league

Also NBA Reporters: LeBron LeBron LeBron KD Steph.

  28. Based on the Haliban and Al Shai-Da memes, having a memeable name is a requirement. LeKing is doing his part but Luka is lacking.

  29. The degree to which yall care about 2-3 minute espn segments on daytime television is wild

  30. If you can book Magic Johnson on your show, you book him. If you have Magic on your show, you’d be crazy not to talk about the Lakers. This isn’t hard to figure out, guys.

  31. I don’t really like Adam Silver, but when he talks about how other sports celebrate their teams regardless of market this is exactly what he means. NBA media is teaching it’s casual fanbase to not care about anyone other than Lebron/the Lakers. Otani was becoming a big deal BEFORE he got to LA. Mahomes plays in a city of about 500,000 people. Indianapolis when Manning was there had under 800k.

Bigger names do matter, but for fucks sake can you at least try and help your young guys and smaller markets out?

  32. Because ESPN is not built to give insightful basketball takes, they are built for headlines and they don’t know how to sell small market teams. I’ve stopped watching ESPN and now rely on youtube creators for better and more thoughtful insights.

  33. When LeBron finally does retire the nba and nba media are in for a hurt when they realize they spent the last 15 years downplaying everybody who could be superstars and be the guys they talk about to draw in viewers and they have nobody LeBron retires😂I for one can’t wait

  34. Who the fuck thinks Kendrick Perkins has even a mid level basketball IQ. He makes Shaq look agile and skinny.

  35. Lead story on ESPN.com:Aaron Judge – the lonely road to blah blah blah.

Not one headline on the game last night. Had ti scroll down a way for it.
