the Hall of Fame will add another player the Royals Hall of Fame set to welcome a guy that once wore number seven but was known for number four and celebrate the newest Royals Hall of Famer Alex Gordon wow i didn’t know Bo Jackson was going to give me the jacket i mean that’s freaking cool as Ryan said unfortunately my dad’s not here today but I know he’s looking down and proud of this moment thank you Dad so I just want to give another thank you to my mom dad Eric Brett Derek for helping make me make this dream come true i love you guys finally thank you to all the Kansas City Royals fans for the 15 great years here i felt the love and support from all the fans for the good times and the bad times and there are no better fans in the world than right here in Kansas City it is an honor to be called a Kansas City Royal Hall of Famer thank you some of the players have a pine tar strip on the back of their jersey to honor Alex the ultimate compliment is the pine tar on back of the position players tonight michael Walkup who has had another good year for the Royals and has been especially good over his last eight starts where his erra is under two and a half but he is down on three pitches and as good as Michael Waka’s change up has been in his career it has been at its best in his last six or seven starts two up two down for the Athletics the batter Brent Rooker and Rooker wasting no time that’s going to get over Bobby Whit Jr into left field it’s a single for Brent Rooker here with two outs and that is hit number 400 in Brent Rooker’s career runner at first two out and a ground ball to India second base he charges scoops it up flips over to Pascino and that’s that walkan makes quick work of the athletics luis Severino’s on the bump well and making a start away from West Sacramento it’s his 15th start of the season two up two down and Mikel Garcia royals have come out swinging and Mikel Garcia drives it into left center and Sodstrom the former catcher made a good play to hold Garcia to a single that is ball four so with two outs the Royals put two on salvador Perez has a chance to drive in a run in the first inning and man what a relief that would be for the Royals to put one or two on the board in the first inning line to the gap and the Royals get that run in the first inning it’s a long single garcia scores and now Salvi goes into second as the throw went to third and the Royals take a one- nothing lead two down here’s Austin W the A’s needed to score early on if they could because once this guy gets ahead he gets stingy expanding the zone making it more difficult for the hit it’s this one high in the air towards left it’s headed back and how about that for your first hit in the green and gold austin wins come on down with a home run it’s a 1-1 game here in Kansas City man oh man what a great feeling for the A’s michael Waka’s into his third inning now lawrence Butler riding an 0 for 17 trying to find a way here and now off the end of the bat Butler can run waka’s throw is just in time so athletic man oh man nice job Jacob Wilson the two two pitch that swung on and smacked into left field for a base hit so Jacob Wilson with his 94th hit of the year as he singles to left on another change up and so Muny takes his base and that loads the bases for Nick Curts and that’s going to be off the glove passino it’ll bring in a run two to one and Brent Rooker is going to have to dive back the ball gets past Garcia nick Curts getting the job done the A’s lead two to one michael Walker faces Luis Orias and puts a good swing on this one luis Orias to left field and he joins in on the home run parade ori with a solo homer his seventh of the year and the A’s lead it three to one and the A’s need to continue to add on and that’s exactly what the doctor ordered two gone jack Kagleon steps to the plate 0 for one tonight slider ripped up the middle a base hit into right center field clark cuts it off in the gap kaggleó’s on it first and he’s got a two out single nice line drive at 107 mph that brings up Nick Loftton as the pitch to Loftton a fly ball to center field denzel Clark drifts back now to his left a step under it makes the catch and the inning is over nice in hitting for Severino patrick and Britney Mahomes are here again this is the second time during the home stand that they’ve come out to watch the Royals fantastic severino very economical with his pitches he’s only thrown 52 pitches 33 strikes payoff pitch is going to be strike three severino wins the battle with John Rave and that’s his first K of the game here’s Bobby Whit Jr he’s 0 for two a ground out and a pop out here another two-1 pitch from the right-hander matt Swan get down to the second baseman scooped up by Urias onto Curts and the inning is over so Whit is 0 for three another ground ball induced by Severino that was big there is one away walkers retired five straight clark who has flyed to right and struck out 0 for two here’s the O2 to Denzel Clark and after his timeout he comes up with a hit so Denzel getting on base with a one out knock and the Lawrence Butler the right fielder as Walker delivers off speed a bunt down the third base line a perfect bunt it’s a base hit for Butler oh what a perfect time for it bunt down the third base line for a single his second hit of the night and the A’s are in business first and second one out so that’s going to be it for Waka 93 pitches the A’s had the middle of the order coming up steven Cruz continues to build on a breakout season and Jacob Wilson steps to the plate antsy as ever cruz delivers pitch swung on banged into right field for a base hit into third base goes Clark they’ll hold him there as Rave gets it in and in a good move to hold him ra got it in quickly and the bases are loaded now for Rooker so another multi-hit game for Jacob Wilson and here is Rooker with the bases loaded and one out but if anybody’s going to put the fire out in that Rolls bullpen it’s Steven Cruz the pitch fast over the inner corner called strike three 99 at the knees rooker’s down looking and that’s a big second out in the top of the sixth inning here is Soderstrom base is loaded here two outs and they go the 3-2 pitch that miss is low he lost them ball four and the A’s now lead it four to one so the A’s have a three-run lead now and time to get greedy and here’s Muny ground ball and this is up the middle it’s going to get through here comes Lawrence Butler and Jacob Wilson to follow and Maxy a two RBI single to add on it is six to one a so runner on first two outs here’s Kag Leone big left-handed hitter the three 0 pitch swung on line drive caught by Curts so he swings three and0 again he hits a bullet but Nick Curts able to make the catch on the line drive he gets a high five from Severino and the inning is over wow drew Waters has entered the game in left field not to replace Nick Loftton nick Loftton goes from left field to second so Jonathan India last inning was able to finish the inning after landing heavy on his left shoulder but he’s out now tugan brings up Denzel Clark lifted to shallow center isbel sprints in dives forward makes the catch that’s how it’s done but Denzel Clark is robbing everybody left and right but Kyle Isel can do it too a one out single for John Ray that brings up Kyle Isbel as pitches want bounce on a short might be two wilson will scoop it up he’ll step on the back throw it a first double play nicely done a 63 in ending double play so two up two down now Mikel Garcia well hit left center field in the gap by Garcia to the wall and over the glove of Soderstrom and Garcia’s at second with the two out double so what a job by Luis Severino seven and two/3 innings and whether you’re on your couch or wherever you are long as you’re not driving be safe but if you’re on your couch you can stand up and give him a standing O because he did a great job luis Severino well Mason Miller in the game now for the Athletics you see the note there at the bottom 13 for 15 and save opportunities this is not one of them but it is an opportunity much like it was for Mr estz to get some working backto back walks boy if that doesn’t fuel a comeback I don’t know what will nick Loftton is at the plate and this is a key to the game for both teams loftton hits it to the gap in left center and Soderstrom didn’t take a good route it’s going to roll behind him the Royals will get two and Loftton has a triple in backto back game and now you can begin to think about a comeback so now John Ra at the plate two- two pitch highfly ball well struck to center by Ray but catchable from Clark it’s going to score a run so here comes Loftton to score and now it’s six to four and if you’re the Athletics you just cannot allow another base runner i think it’s for obvious reasons here but you just do not want to give the Royals a chance to tie this ball game up strike three mason will take it the A’s will take it i’m not sure the fans at Kaufman Stadium will take it and I got to believe if you’re the Kansas City Royals there is a ton of frustration popped up off the first pitch and this should do it jacob Wilson stepping over second gingerly he will make the final catch so a little bit of trouble there in the ninth but ultimately the A’s get a muchneeded victory and they hand Luis Severino his second win of the season as Mason Miller was on the mound to finish things out in the ninth
