Bill Simmons on Pat McAfee’s segment during the 4th quarter of last night’s Finals game: “My big note is McAfee did this monologue with like 10 minutes left… it was the wrong timing… it was this massive part of the game, they actually had to stop the game and wait for the monologue to finish”

  1. I’m kinda over McAfee. He’s like corporate-friendly Barstool at this point.

  2. That seems like a strange thing to green light lol. I’m not sure what point Pat was trying to make.

  3. I’ll never understand how McAfee got as big as he did. Dude is terrible

  4. Pat McAfee worked when you got him on small doses.

The extreme overexposure is so old

  5. It kind of reminded me of the All-Star game where they kept stopping the game to pay homage to Inside the NBA over and over again. I also make it a point to try to not listen to drunk white dudes whose voices are constantly sore from screaming at people all of the time, and this dude seems like the worst chud possible.

  6. The celebrity fan thing in New York always seems a little much to me but at least they’re not handing a mic to Miles Teller during a timeout.

  7. McAfee, Stephen A Smith, Perk, toss the whole lot. they’re all garbage. Get me 10 zach Lowe’s back in there ASAP

  8. I still don’t know who he is… Like, I know it was a big deal that he got on ESPN, but that’s it. I just figured he mostly did football stuff and was a podcaster, but I learned this year that he’s an Indiana fan. Anything else I ever heard about him was Aaron Rodgers’s going wild on his show

  9. The joys of watching the NBA in England is I don’t have to put up with fucking idiots like this. 🛎️🔚

  10. It was a dumb speech. Just say we’re the underdogs who are going to prove everyone wrong. Talking about the spread and sportsbooks falls flat.

  11. Pacers had like a 10 point lead and was cut down to 2 that’s why they called a timeout, up 2-1 in the series, and somehow Pat McAfee doing that monologue, talking about them being huge underdogs, as if the game was in the bag..

  12. Historians will analyze how Pat McAfee, a punter, got this much media exposure.

  13. McAfee is another good reason to root against Indiana. I’d usually like a good underdog that’s on a roll, but between him, and Hali, and Hali’s dad, I just can’t, they’re all so insufferable.

  14. This guy, and people like him getting a platform, is maybe the worst thing to happen to sports, maybe ever. I wish these types of folks were still secluded on their own little side of the internet. ESPN making them mainstream was just the nail in the coffin IMO.

  15. Blame the Pacers front office for allowing this. What the actual fuck lol

  16. Get off my screen man I’m sick of you lol, don’t stop the game for your bullshit, just hop on the loudspeaker and say “Are you ready for the fourth quarter!”

  17. Pat seems like a rich douchbag frat guy, but that’s how I picture all of bar shit 🤷🏽‍♀️
