Marlins vs. Nationals Game Highlights (6/14/25) | MLB Highlights

The bat dog, the dog days of June are here and it’s great to see him get the call up after he’s been playing his craft so well at the AAA level, Trevor Williams in his career against Miami one in five with a 5.5, er , a three hitter. Hicks draws a two out walk. Now it’s Lopez, the shortstop in the clean up spot, 12 pitch that one flicked into center field that is in for a base hit, he got hicks rounding second but he stays put there. Lopez has the first hit of the game for either side. Kyle on the year hitting 276 with 10 homers and 33 RB Williams delivers and a swing and a miss, he struck him out going to the change up. Gibson went to Louisiana Tech University, Kate Gibson making his 13th appearance in the big leagues in his first start. Abrams had a pretty good night last night. The left hander Gibson into the pitch swinging a looper toward the left field lineup base, hit a leadoff single and Abrams is five for his last 10 and here is Ahmed Rosario 1 to 2 a ground ball right back to the mound could be two. Gibson spins fires to second for one on to first nonchalant from Sano but in plenty of time to get Rosario Gibson to be covering second baseman Sano on to first and Wagman and the leadoff single, quickly retired Kate Gibson got his ground ball and he will see James wood with the bases empty, which is the way you want it to be. First pitch to wood is sprayed out to left field. Stoer is trotting in, is on the move, dives forward and he makes the catch double play ball and an eventful fly out ends a scoreless inning for Gibson. It will be Wagman myers and Norby due up against Williams in the top of the second Williams rocks kicks fastball right in there at the strike three called Williams has his second strikeout. So two out a runner at first and so will be the batter, swing a ground ball toward the middle Abrams to his left hand. It, he’ll go right to the bag himself for the force play that ends the inning six on assisted. So no grounds out new pitch for the Marlins 24 year old hard throwing right hitter, Ronnie Enriquez, he’s had 14 inherited runners for the year with eight scoring. Alex called to face him. He delivers swinging the ground ball, he put the glove behind his back and it’s in and out of the glove and bounces back to the plate and all hands will be safe. He almost made a behind the back play. He might have had a chance if he held it into the glove to turn a double play or if he lets it go , the runners advance Lowe to third called into scoring position at second with two outs. So the batter now is Robert Hassell the third Hassell awaits 3 to 2 pitch and he threw him the fastball too low ball four out his changeup. They say at 94 miles an hour, but now the Nationals have the bases loaded and Riley Adams trying to snap an zero for 26 here. Now the set of the pitch on 31, it’s too low. He threw Glider on three and one and a walk for Adams his first of the year in his seventh RB I it’s a bases loaded walk and the Nationals lead 1 to 0. Top of the order for the Marlins, sanchez ramirez and Hicks. They trail the nationals 10. Here’s the 0 to 1 liner in the air, left center field towards the alleyway. It gets down for a hit rolls all the way to the wall. Sanchez jogging to second base with a leadoff double. That’s the third hit for the Marlins. They’re down 10 and there’s a runner 90 ft away with one out Marlins down a run and Liam Hicks, a left hand batter in the 11 in the air to center field that will get down for a hit. Sanchez scores from third base and Liam Hicks continues his hot hitting. He might be having the most underrated rookie season in major league baseball. And the reason I say that he just extended his national league lead among rookies in R B runner at second one out Lowe walked and scored nationals run in the second in the 2 to 2 swing. A chopper past the mound under the pitcher’s glove. Second baseman picks it up and cannot make a throw the ball and be is upset. He had a chance falling off. Third base side ranges to the first base side reached for it, couldn’t get it. Hall reached on an infield hit off the glove of the pitcher. His first time up a 2 to 1 bouncing ball, the short could be two Lopez Fields goes to second one so no to first double play and the Marlins get out of a pickle here in the third, no runs, one hit, one runner left on pace one away here in the top of inning. Number five, sanchez, the right fielder and leadoff batter to wright opening the game. Williams starts to wind his pitch on the way swing and a miss struck him out a foul tip into the back of the glove of Riley Adams, Trevor Williams has his third strikeout of the afternoon. Here’s ramirez who has bounced to short and 5 to 2 solo homers last night in a single swinging a shot. It’s caught by Williams a rocket back to the pitcher on his follow through. He catches it off his left side , chest high and he walks off the mound with the ball still in his glove. Liam Hicks is responsible for producing the only run in the afternoon for the Marlins 12 bouncing ball hits off Williams behind the mound and nobody can reach it before Hicks has his second hit of the game. So an infield single to lead off the sixth inning and the Marlins nationals tied at one. Ferrato Lopez. The pitch bouncing ball right side and through for a hit Hicks round second. He’s heading for third. Hassel’s throw comes into second base. A rocket ground ball hit to the left of Garcia and he it and Miami’s cooking here in the top of the sixth inning. So they’ll train two outs for a run. Holds him Lowe here comes the one to pop up left side foul Rosario does he have room? He’s on the side warning track. He does. He makes a basket catch. Rosario was so concerned about the dugout railing that he caught it almost into his chest is going to be happy with five and a third from Trevor Williams waging a good battle today and Brad Lord next 1st and 3rd with one out Eric Waggaman to face brad Lord. Here’s the pitch bouncing ball right side towards the hole and through for a hit hicks scores from third and the Marlins lead 2 to 1 here in the sixth. The Marlins get the big hit here. That’s their third hit of the inning. They only had four in the first five frames one down here in the bottom of the sixth inning. A big out in a 2 to 1 game. And here’s Nathaniel Lowe 12 wave and a miss Junk throws a fastball by Lowe and he picks up his first strikeout. There’s two away in the sixth inning for Alex Cole hits from junk swing and a miss a slider at the top of the zone strike three. So junk works another 123 frame , one pitch and one out to begin the seventh and here’s Sanchez 1 to 0 line drive pretty deep to right field Cole going back looking up and that ball is gone. Jesus Sanchez crushes a long home run. It’s his sixth homer of the year and Miami moves to 3 to 1 in the seventh over the nationals. Jesus Sanchez obliterated that ball 19 off the bat that got out in a and there are two men gone here in the top of the eighth with the Marlins up by two. Brings up javier one pitch. That one popped up right side of the infield, drifting into shallow, right. Second baseman garcia is calling for it and Luis Garc-a dropped the ball. ST comes in to score. Garcia nonchalantly was positioned to catch the final out of the inning but he flat out, dropped the baseball bender for his second save on the year. You know what you’re getting from Anthony Bender. He’s a guy that matches up perfectly with right hand hitters and it’s leading off. Bender kicks, delivers and swings and loops one toward right fair ball base hit down the line, rolling into foul ground. He’s going to try for two. He’ll make it. So call fights one off the other way and turns that into a leadoff double here in the bottom of the ninth inning and the batters Luis Garc-a Junior and he bats with runners 1st and 3rd. Nobody out called at third. Bell at first. Bender delivers and the pitch gets by the catcher hit the umpire and deflects all the way to the backstop and a run scores. We’ve seen that all throughout the league this year just using it as a paddle. The kicking here at C swing and a drive in the air to right deep. Sanchez back, still back leaves. Bell went back to the bag at second, so he’ll only go to third as Garcia pulls into second with a double. So Bell was back to tag and had a wait that just clears Sanchez who couldn’t get back to make the play. Now, Hassell has a chance to tie the game with a hit to the outfield. Here’s the Hassell swings in a ground ball to first. It’s fielded by Wagman. He drops, he picks it up, he throws too late to be scores and it’s a one over to third is Garcia with a tag run. That was a short out for the Marlins out number one in the inning and they don’t get it and the Nationals get the run and they get the tying run to third and Kert Ruiz will pitch it for Riley Adams in the 12 to Ruiz his little bouncing ball over to first base Wagman has it in fair territory. Wagman takes it to the first base bag. He gets the sure fire out. That is out number one and it sounds like Jacob Young is into the game. Jacob Young can fly and the Marlins will intentionally walk CJ Abrams to get to Ahmed Rosario two pitch swinging a flare into left field. The outfield was playing shallow , stour comes on. He makes the catch. Young is not going to try it. Sto’s throw was well into foul ground by home plate. Young would have scored easily and Clayton mccullough is going to make a move. He wants Calvin Faucher to face James wood instead of bender 12 to wood swinging a fly ball shallow left field, twisting a fouled ground. The third baseman Norby in foul territory. You got Staar calling for it and Otto Lopez, the shortstop makes the catch man. That’s the kind of ninth inning that makes you squirm but you know what a wins, a win and that’s win number 27 for the Marlins on the year.
