🔴LIVE 🔴Kansas City Royals vs Oakland Athletics – June 15, 2025 | Envivo | MLB The Show 25
and welcome into the ballpark happy to have you with us we’ve got Father’s Day baseball it’s the Athletics going up against the Kansas City Royals first pitch coming your way next your Kansas City Royal [Applause] just about set to go and on the mound in this one Seth Lugo and Singi we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots i’ve just been so impressed with when it seems like there’s more pressure he’s more calm and settles in he’s done an incredible job with runners in scoring position most guys they get a little tight they start to aim the baseball but for some reason he gets looser the ball comes out of his hand with more life and he’s able to wiggle off the hook of you know tough situations and get his team back in the dugout lawrence Butler leading things off and takes a strike [Applause] that one missed that’s inside [Music] he had a foul ball that’s ball two two balls two strikes line drive that’s a fair ball and it’s getting into the corner around first heading for two and he’s got a leadoff double couldn’t have timed it up any better than that i’m amazed at his ability to pull his hands inside and actually square that baseball off that pitch was off the plate so tough to get the barrel to anything in there so the go-ahehead run in scoring position now here is Brent Rooker and that’s downstairs one and0 counts one and0 come on let’s go and that’s fouled off butler at second with nobody out i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching up a little out front there as he swings through it see if he can go upstairs a little bit make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one two don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you could get hurt got him not what you’re looking for after the lead off double a strike out and there’s one away so digging in Tyler Soderstroke hit on the ground to the right side and it goes just foul swing and a popup foul territory for the catcher and there are two outs and time now to check out the A’s lineup batting second a really important guy for them brent Rooker yeah definitely someone I always enjoy you know when I get a chance to watch him whether he’s hitting in a game or even taking swings during batting practice man this guy is always so focused on what he’s doing on that task at hand he’s got so much attention to detail that when he steps in the box his success rate is really high seth Brown in the box here lets that one go for a ball come on swing and a highf fly ball left field he’s there he’s got it and that is that the A’s strand one and now the Royals will get their first shot in a scoreless ball game you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show back here with my pal Singi our starter in this one JP Sears and Chris pitching on the road has not been particularly kind to him yeah and you don’t want to be too quick to say that he can’t pitch on the road sometimes you know it’s just a matter of walk it’s not having a feel difference between the bullpen mound to the mound out there on the playing field don’t know what it is but I know this he’s got good enough stuff to overcome and get it done on the road as well as at home so we’ll see what he’s able to do in this one whacked out to center field that’s well struck that’s back there and it’s off the batter his second home run of this series and they jump out front it’s one- nothing [Applause] when you’re working with this kind of velocity so critical that you move the ball around quickly and make sure that you keep that hitter off balance clearly not fooled by the location or the velocity he was all over that fast now here’s Bobby Whit Jr cut on and lifted in the air rooker should have this one and it’s caught for the out and here now the lineup for the Royals this righty heavy lineup must be licking their chops with a lefty on the mound now to me Boo it shows the managers trying to set these players up to have a big game facing an opposite handed pitcher you only get a fraction of a second longer to see the ball and decide to swing but that can be the difference between a line drive and a swinging strike [Applause] mikel Garcia batting with one down takes a strike [Applause] and that one is lifted in the air blade pulls it in and there’s two away batting fourth the first base two down base is empty vinnie Pasquentino steps in for the Royals [Applause] that one finds the zone and it’s 0 and one [Applause] swing and a miss nice change up man he really sells the change up with that arm action keeps the bat going with a foul ball [Applause] [Music] stays alive that wasn’t an easy pitch to hit it’s much easier to do damage against mistakes but that’s not what that pitch was swing and a miss struck him out one scores in the inning coming on this solo home run it’s an early one- nothing lead you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show and welcome back to the ballpark all set for the start of the inning here’s the third baseman Maxy muny goes 6’1 hitting fifth in today’s lineup a former first round pick in 2021 out in front with the swing and that is strike one one swinging a ground ball and that’s just foul right-hander kicks steals this one lifted in the air left field loftton pulls it in and there’s one away batting six the left fielder number this is JJ Blade jj Blade tap foul at the plate one out base is empty swing at a highf fly ball well struck that’s back and that one is out of here and we’re level it’s 1-1 he absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer and you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat he’s that confident a good hitter gets pitch recognition early he saw exactly where that was going to be the challenge not get over anxious and come out of your swing he stayed on it and got all of it so it’s all tied up thanks to the home run here’s Luis Oas first pitch and that’s in for a strike how about this one Boo in 2023 Aras hit grand slams for Boston in back-to back plate appearances they happened on different days but he still became the first Red Sox player to do it since Jimmy Fox in 1940 [Applause] foul ball it stays nothing and two ball that’s off the plate and it’s fouled off they’ll do it again tied up here in the early going and there’s a ball really good take especially with two strikes and they’ll do it again well he’s desperately looking for that swing and miss he’s going to have to just change speeds a little bit try to move it around create just a little bit of illusion at the end ninth pitch of the bat do next swang and a miss struck him out he battled for a long time but it finishes with a strike out you can’t be mad at yourself after an at bat like that one next up for the A’s Willie Macyver foul ball [Music] that catches the corners two down base is empty but one run across here in the top of the second and down on strikes he goes that K is his third of the game the A’s get one on this homer all even at one a piece back after this on the show bottom of the inning so here’s the Royals DH salvador Perez salvador Sears back to work swings through that one out in front that time oh one’s the count comes up empty eric Summerskill with home plate duty in this one kind of known for being generous with the corners Chris you know I think that used to be a lot bigger deal in past eras where pitchers were working more in and out with their pitches but yeah we’ll see if those corners come into play in this one hey no pitcher going to argue at all brown coming on makes a nice running catch and there’s one down they trust him in center field because he’s capable of making plays on the run and we saw it right there that’s a player you want patrolling center field someone who can attack the ball off the bat jack Kaggleó in the box with one away as he takes ball one and there’s the strike i got a ball one strike that one clubed out towards left center that’ll be extra bases around first and hustling for second and he starts his afternoon off right with a double everything came together for him got a fast ball middle of the plate jumped all over it absolutely smoked that ball [Applause] now the left fielder Nick Loftton line drive base hit stop sign goes up at third runners at the corners with one out clearly he was ready to hit right there nice line drive to the pull side bet it out front but just stayed through it nice enough and ripped it into the outfield here’s the catcher Freddy Fine good defender he’s been inconsistent offensively first pitch just misses liner and this could be trouble one runs in and it will play the run scores all the way from first and they take a two-run lead well he had the opportunity to drive in some runs and he comes through to break the tie everything was mechanically sound with that swing right there i mean that’s pretty much what you’re wanting to replicate with every rep you take you want good balance barrel directly to the baseball and good long extension after contact out in front of home plate man there are a lot of doubles in a swing like that one out runner at second and now it’s Kyle Isbel swings and misses at the sweeper oh and one [Applause] for me leads off second with one gone in the inning [Applause] swaging a ball hit out towards left center field and it falls now a long throw home it’s offline the run comes in and they lead by three well done drives in the run he clearly didn’t catch that one on the big part of the bat just kind of muscled it out there and you know on the mound it can be pretty frustrating for a pitcher but you just kind of have to expect those to drop in there sometimes jonathan India at the plate to first and he breaks for second to second and he’s out [Applause] first pitch misses two gone base is empty but three runs across bottom half of inning number two and misses inside he’s great hitting the ball the other way and that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit mission accomplished and that’s through there for a strike and it’s two and one in today’s game not that many fast ball counts but hitters still in the back of their minds they’re looking for one two change up call right there excellent pitch selection to go with swang and a miss there’s that change up two out space is empty [Applause] and a foul ball he stays alive little early on that fast ball i’m sure the pitcher taking a note look for an off speed pitch on this next one and a swing and a miss and that’s that three runs for him here and they move ahead we play two full it’s the Royals four and the A’s one back here at Kaufman Stadium and now the shorts stop matt Schuman schuman come on let’s do this so after scoring runs this is where you’re looking for that shutdown inning get that hot team back in there to swing the bats [Music] and the one fly ball down the line dives and he can’t hang on into second and he’s got a double didn’t exactly square that one up but sometimes you don’t have to just to flare down that right field line and he got it to drop in fair and I guarantee you he was yelling get down get down as he ran out of the box because Boo sometimes you just got to talk to it so the lineup flips over and now Lawrence Butler doubled in his first AB [Music] and that one pulled foul pitch misses and one and one outside corner there’s the strike one ball runner in scoring position nobody out we’re here in the top half of inning number three in the air center field calls it in and there’s one away now batting right fielder Brent Rooker brent Rooker will hit next come on let’s go that’s in there that’s strike one runner at second here one gone [Music] come on foul ball there and that misses yeah the count one and two well that’s kind of what you expect in an 02 count excellent job of the hitter to have the plate disciplined to lay off of that pitch ball two one out and a runner at second got him swinging boi just ran out of patience there he took a couple of pitches to even that count up at two balls and two strikes but that time chased outside the zone tyler Sodstrom up next for the A’s he’s 0 for one and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike going one finish him two outs and one in scoring position [Music] up and in it’s a ball and two strikes [Music] that’s down and in two strikes [Music] foul ball another 2-2 upcoming man at second and it remains two and two gets a piece and stays alive he hasn’t gotten the result yet but he’s got to feel pretty confident three foul balls in a row he’s right on this pitcher popped up left side with brings it in and that is that As we go to the last of the third and to the play for Kansas City Bobby Whit Jr junior and it’s fouled away deal one and ball one i think this is an important inning on the mound for him in this game he’s got to find a way to settle things down and give some length in this start towards first he’ll do it himself one up one down now batting third baseman Mike Garcia and next up for the Royals Mel Garcia fly to left his first time let’s go right through there for a strike filling up the strike zone hasn’t been the problem so far it’s the quality of the strikes that’s been the real issue and you look at the first inning that’s what we saw too many pitches out over the plate one down base is empty pitch misses there and that’s ball two one strike and that one off the outside edge [Music] hard hit right side sodestro takes it himself and two straight set down to begin the bottom of the third first baseman number nine Vinnie pasquantino two outs base is empty now it’ll be the cleanup hitter for the Royals vinnie Pasquantino he struck out swinging at his first at bat ball on there next pitch downstairs now 2 and 0 hit hard on the ground to short tosses to first three up three down inning over offense held in check there on to inning number four it’s the Royals four and the A’s won and we’re back john Shami with Chris Singleton and set to lead off the fourth Zack Brown come on that one pushed to the left and fouled you know these A’s doing a great job Boo of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way and I’m seeing very patient at bats out of him he’s only giving up one run but the starter’s pitch count is starting to get up there and that might be the best news yet for this offense [Music] cut out and miss struck him out now five strikeouts for him on the map the batter the third base so up next Max flyed to left his first time you know sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage and that might be the case today that one lifted to left [Applause] loftton makes the grab and there’s two gone the left fielder number 33 two down base is empty next up for the A’s JJ Blade he’s already homered here in this one outside that’s a ball and that is ball one you have to be creative pitching against bad ball hitters you got to add some velocity subtract at times just avoiding the heart of the plate isn’t always going to be enough guys like this can hurt you with pitches you wouldn’t expect him to swing at that one ripped back there and that one hops the wall and that’s a double having a really nice game here that’s his second extra base hit a lot of times in today’s game right fielders are able to get to a ball that stays in like that but he hit that one pretty well and if he hits it just a little bit different on the barrel it’s out of here easily but there’s nothing wrong with the extra bases right there so runner at second two down luis up next for the A’s outside low and that’s ball one [Music] come on you can do it swing and a miss instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended tied him up a little bit slightly up slightly in the one-1 is fouled off finish him fouled off and they’ll do it again runner at second two down come on two two in the count helpful this one in the dirt leday up to third on the wild pitch well that right there can be a tough read as a runner on second to see if the ball’s gotten away enough to move to third you have to be sure you can make it because you’re already in scoring position well he was sure there and now he’s only 90 feet away from scoring [Music] the kick the 3-2 knocks that one away and we’ll do it again sit him down strike him out looking the A’s strand one and they trail it 4-1 [Applause] back here in Kansas City and now it’s Salvador Perez to the plate salvador [Music] Perez you can do it and first offering is fouled off well he hasn’t quite settled in out there four runs in three innings he’s going to have to have some quick one two three innings to pitch deep into this ball game right through there for a strike no balls two strikes field two hard ground ball base knock solo runner aboard to start the inning i’d say a mistake pitch in an 02 count too good of a pitch to hit right there you have to expand the zone keep that lead off man off first base and now the right fielder Jack Kaggle Leone one for one with a double and a run scored first pitch and he just misses [Music] fast for a strike the Athletics have some bullpen action number 47 up and loosening in the pen nukem a left-hander also throwing swings and misses and the count one and two sometimes being lucky is a swing and miss if he makes contact with that pitch probably hits into a double play two balls in the dirt perez aboard here at first with nobody out that one misses and a full countdown [Applause] fights it off you’ll see another and ball for two aboard oh looking for a swinging miss right there or for the ump to have out and make a call with that last pitch but neither happened close pitch but a good take to earn that walk first and second no outs nick Loftton steps in for the Royals that misses the zone ball one well these Royals showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one pitch count is pretty Muny over to Aras one how about that double play oh man what a smooth double play that was a thing of beauty from start to finish freddy Fine [Applause] and the batter now Freddy Ferbine and that one’s a little bit low ball one so they forced the starter to put in a lot of work and they’ve been able to get to him for some runs and hopefully that bullpin phone is working today two outs and a runner a third we’re here in the bottom of the fourth in there at the knees and it’s a ball and a strike that clips a corner so far all we’ve seen in this at bat are fast balls look for him to slow it down right here ahead in the count [Music] foul ball still one and two count [Applause] battling here as he fouls it away [Music] that one missed that’s a really good take right there slider down and in very difficult to get on the same plane and do anything with ground ball up the middle urias the throw to first that is the inning one hit one left onto the top of the fifth we go it’s the Royals four and the A’s won ready now for the fifth inning leading off Willie Macyver macgyver macgyver 28 years old he joined the team as a free agent and that’s him for a strike it’s 0 and one you know these athletics finding ways to get on base but they still need help driving them home they’ve had their chances with runners in scoring position but nobody’s been able to deliver a big hit in those situations and the next pitch is way outside and you got to give some credit to the other side as well they’ve been able to get out of a few tough jams but frustration is mounting for this offense no doubt swings through that one it’s a strike out oh he’s been racking up the strikeouts and what’s so impressive not walking anyone i mean this guy’s just going right after hitters filling up the strike zone and it looks like hitters they’re trying to think with him but they just are a pitch behind dominating stuff out there on the mound schuman stands in now and watches strike one well I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning anything after that a hitter or two is bonus but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts came inside with that two- strike fast ball nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of the plate couldn’t get around on it and catch it out front many times if you do it’s a foul ball and you know a lot of pitchers they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter and when they’ve got them up against the ropes got to figure out a way to put them away did a nice job right there two down and it’s even up swings through that one this guy’s got such a good sinker as a hitter you’ve got to look up in the zone if you look down you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt gets a piece there we’ll do it again that’s a little bit low [Music] next offering away off the plate stays alive out to short tosses to first and it’s a one two three inning a’s go quickly and quietly there and this is still a 41 ball game ready to go for the last half of the inning so up now for Kansas City Kyle Isel you talk about elite defensive players especially in the middle of the diamond and this guy is at the top of the list and that’s in for a strike yeah we go beyond just the you know fielding percentage and you know what it looks like but the ability to have range and you know close holes that you know are normally there against an average defender but this guy is special and you can see it in his first step quickness takes it himself and a quick out number six second baseman Jonathan now here is Jonathan India [Applause] the one thing about that is speed never goes into a slump and defense shouldn’t either hittingwise you can struggle you can lose your mechanics but the thing that you can do consistently every single game is play great defense if you’re talented in that way and this is what this guy does liner and this could be trouble makes the turn and heads for second not stopping he’s going for three the relay he’s in there he’s in there so here we are third time through the order and this is where we see the OPS jump up manager might have to go to the bullpen a little bit sooner than he anticipated manager out of the dugout and he’s going to make a change jp Sears out of the game it’s a three-run game and we’ll be back to tell you about the new arm in a minute now pitching for So a new pitcher on the mound for the A’s number 47 he pitched yesterday and we’ll see him once again one down runner at third now the number two hitter Bobby Wit Jr 0 for two in this one that one finds the zone 0 and one and Chris beyond the fact that he’s so incredible defensively he also can swing the stick [Music] and that’s a little bit high one ball one strike this is a situation where the hitter is looking for something up in the zone that he can get his arms extended what you have to be careful of is that pitch that’s up that’s in on your hands that’ll pop you up in the infield and that’s exactly what the pitcher wants and a ground ball to first now two away as they get a one across mikel Garcia steps in for the Royals mel Garcia [Applause] there’s the strike looks like he sacrificed to pitch right down the middle for tracking and timing some good hitters will do that two outs and that drops in for a strike and that’s in the dirt [Applause] in the air to left center leay makes the grab and that is the third out of the inning so it’s one run one hit no errors and no one left we’re through five it’s the Royals five and the A’s won top of the sixth then now it’s the right fielder Brent Rooker rooker Luggo back to work right through there for a strike some hitters are just more confident they can track that first pitch out of the hand of the pitcher they don’t care if they fall behind 01 [Music] popped up foul territory behind the play has room and he makes the catch the first baseman number 21 Tyler Sodrub and now the first baseman Tyler Soderstrom let’s go and first offering is fouled off the Athletics down by four and we’re the top half of the sixth next offering is in for a strike [Applause] that one is hammered right field back there onto the track and he makes the catch two outs space is empty and now the center fielder Seth Brown right side and foul ball [Music] the next offering misses in the count one and two well as good as things can be it can be a tough day at the office even for the skippers seeing the offense just sputter not able to get anything going that’s off the inside corner it’s two and two [Music] swing and a line drive and that one’s a base hit out of left center field and that keeps the inning going he was all over that one anytime you rip a line drive the other way you feel really good about what you did at the plate you trusted your hands you let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it that’s great work right there now Maxy ripped to third but handled and that’ll end the inning so no runs here on a base hit no errors and one left to the bottom of the six we go 456 coming up it’s the Royals five and the A’s won and welcome back to the ballpark bottom of the six and now it’ll be the cleanup spot for the Royals vinnie Pasquentino that clips the zone strike one well these Royals doing a good job of simply getting the bat on the ball in this game and the numbers back that up the numbers tell us they’re averaging more than a hit every inning and they’ve only struck out twice so they keep finding ways to put their bat on the ball ah that hit him and the leadoff command is aboard to start the inning leading up for the Royals here’s the Royals designated hitter Salvador Perez one for two [Applause] first pitch doesn’t find the zone pasquantino on at first nobody out runner on the move swing and a popup schuman carous and there’s one down that was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate had pretty good timing on it just got underneath it a little bit and popped it up kaggleó and here is Jack Kaggle Leone here we go and first offering is fouled off come on and that’s in for a strike man at first one away and that’s a base hit they get it in quickly so first and second now one out right there does a great job of staying in the big part of the field man there are a lot of hits there loftton Nick Loftton steps in for the Royals and that one misses up and in one and one and Casey just missed good spot for the hitter definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch come on outside low and it’s three and0 and they’re all loaded up that just came apart right there four pitch walk and guy at the play was not going to help him out by swinging at something out of his own freddy Fine steps in for the Royals and that one popped in the air left field he’s got it runner tags for home the throw in not in time he’s safe at the plate it’s 6-1 oh those can be pretty fun as an outfielder got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down nothing better than that you feel like a wide receiver playing football here’s the center fielder Kyle Isel isel [Applause] just missed [Applause] swaging a popup foul out of play off to the right side that’ll find the stands [Applause] that misses the zone two and one [Applause] now one out to right rooker four and that will end the inning two men left stranded but they do push across one we’re through six full it’s the Royals six and the A’s one back here at Kaufman Stadium here’s the left fielder JJ Blade jj Blade and there’s the strike i really like how he’s been attacking hitters early in at bats he’s thrown strikes on the first pitch to over 70% of the guys he’s faced in this one and there’s the strike on the outside corner all right now he may have not liked either of those first two pitches or agreed with the umpire’s calls but at this point he’s going to have to bear down and be ready to hit anything close to the zone swung on looped into center and it falls and the leadoff man aboard well he found himself behind in the count right there but he didn’t give in he kind of muscled that one out there didn’t get the barrel with it but the important part was that he found a way to stay through the baseball and just drop it into center field so a man aboard Luis Urias up next for the A’s in the dirt if you’re going to get something going this is the time to do it you get the leadoff man on everybody’s got to look over the shoulder and say “I’m just going to keep the line moving.” Don’t try to do too much and a strike on the outside edge well just about to hit that century mark 100 pitches for this game [Music] ball in the dirt but kept close to second and he’s out i appreciate wanting to move up there but that ball didn’t get very far away and getting thrown out as a result sometimes you can be too aggressive on the bases bases empty one away here in the top half of inning number seven [Applause] two-2 now ripped on the ground to second throws to first he’s out now batting the catcher Willie Macyver here comes a skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move seth Lugo won’t go any further and a nice effort out of him no doubt new arm coming on we’ll be back for that in a moment [Applause] now pitching forward on the mound now lucas and we all know about his slider it’s just filthy man and one of the better ones in the game I’d say spin rate’s very high and it just breaks a ton and now here’s the A’s catcher Willie Macyver who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts come on that missed by a lot and that is ball one that was absolute gas triple digits on the gun it’s just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by swinging a miss as he was late wow no fair right there i mean that slider didn’t move till the very last moment incredibly difficult to pick that up just kind of have to tip your cap on that pitch one ball two strikes outside low two and two two balls two strikes [Music] you got this spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another come on two down doan just off the inside edge cut on and missed and it’s a strikeout and that is the inning nothing doing there for the A’s the lead remains five it’s 6-1 now pitching for the Shawn Nukem gets the ball now should be a good first matchup for him here he’s been doing a great job against right-handed bats so far this season they’ve had a lot of trouble squaring it off the basement back to the top of the order now here’s the lead off hitter for the Royals Jonathan India and that skips in the dirt 10 close one doesn’t get the call and it’s 2 and 0 check swing called strike next pitch misses and now three balls and a strike [Music] and a seed into center that’s a base hit man aboard on the leadoff single bobby Wit Jr steps in for the Royals this guy is one of the best athletes in the sport here goes the runner swing and a miss safe at second clearly not content with the lead they’re working with right now and I like that i don’t think you can get comfortable with a fiveun lead in today’s game and now they’ve got a good chance of adding on [Applause] india stands at second with no outs [Music] not close with that one and now it’s even one and one the A’s bullpen has some movement jacob Lopez appears to be getting ready and I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves this would be his major league debut mcfarland getting loose as well and that’s in the dirt recognize that change up right out of the hand just spit on it this to third and that one handled to first and he beats it everyone’s safe boom he doesn’t care how he does it he just wants to get on base and when he does that puts him in a position to do some damage put some pressure on the defense as well his wheels are truly a weapon out there and to the plate for Kansas City Mikel Garcia 0 for three with two fly outs and a ground out and that’s outside and it’s one and0 no outs ruers at first and second [Music] swinging a ground ball up the middle there’s one and that’s two they made that double play look so easy but it was far from routine that’s the one thing about big leaguers they make tough plays look simple vinnie Pasquantino steps in for the Royals vinnie Pasantino and the first pitch misses for ball one two outs with a runner at third and another ball two balls no strikes all right and that’s off the inside edge and that’s ball three fast ball for a strike rudder at third two away swing and a miss as he was out front that time that one is absolutely belted and this one looks like trouble runner in from third to extend their lead comes through with the RBI fast pretty much middle middle and that’s what you fall asleep dreaming about as a hitter so no surprise he put a great swing on it so now here’s the DH salvador Perez one for three right through there for a strike 01’s the count [Applause] fast ball in for a strike and the count is 0 and two perhaps not quite ready to hit first two pitches by him for a couple of strikes now back is against the walls going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly one ball and there’s a ball base knock center field pasquantino around third the throw in safe and the runner from second scores on the play it’s 8-1 so digging in Jack Kaggleó this one smoked could be trouble saudi around second headed for third in safely with a double his second of the day the relay throw there’s the tag they get him and that’s the inning they put two on the board on five hits no errors and one left on base eighth inning coming up royals eight and the A’s won back here in a blowout which gives us a chance to talk about just about anything bro don’t get me fired all right Singi let’s rewind for a second when you heard that they were going to put a pitch clock into the game what was your first thought well I thought that these guys were going to have a very difficult time to be able to regroup after each pitch and be ready to execute some type of plan at the plate and even for pitchers on the mound he swings and fouls one off one of the things though that we’ve seen that is kind of a thread really in every sport these are the elite players and so they adjust and they’ve done a great job adjusting absolutely and just you tip your cap to these guys because not an easy adjustment but they look like they’ve been doing it their entire lives and next is the designated hitter Lawrence Butler and first off is fouled off come on one down base is empty that one fouled off way outside in a count one and two i don’t think he was trying to miss by that much in an 02 count just tried to overthrow that pitch next offering upstairs [Music] got him looking for the K went back to the fast and it was effective didn’t agree with the call at the plate right there but again in a game like this that’s just too close to take it’s a blowout game guys have been out here for a while empire saying “Hey let’s go cut it loose with the bat.” And now the right fielder Brent Rooker 0 for three in this one first pitch misses airsig 29 years old and he was a second round pick back in 2016 next offering is fouled back two outs fast ball for a strike [Applause] next pitch is downstairs come on Kansas City in the air left field loftton makes the catch and that’ll do it and we’re back bottom of the eighth now the left fielder Nick Loftton nick Loftton and ball one fought off foul swing and a fly ball well struck left field drops into the glove and there’s one away the catcher number 34 Freddy Freddy Forbine steps in for the Royals slashed foul down the right side that’ll hook off into the seats check swing he went too far and it’s a strike no balls two strikes good job to fight that one off cuts and misses it’s a strike out oh that was perfect execution of that curveball down and in he gets it out of the danger zone you really can’t do it much better than that it’s in the zone the entire way so you have to swing as a hitter but then just falls off the table and almost hits you in the back foot isbel in now takes ball one off the plate two down nobody on here the bottom half of the eighth inning that’s a little high and now two and 0 two and0 right side hard hit he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it royals bats are quiet there and it remains an 8 to1 game now pitching new pitcher in the game for the Royals John well he’s been excellent against left-handed hitters this year and that’s his first test this looks like a good move to the pin in terms of the matchup and here’s the first baseman Tyler Soder first baseman Tyler Soder the pitch ball run low [Applause] and he chases a high fast there just threw that fast ball by him elevated and if you’re not looking up in that location very difficult to catch up to especially with that velocity swing and a miss as he was out front two strike [Applause] swing and a miss chased it out of the zone comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt got him one away on the strike out well we saw a solid effort out of their starter and the bullpen is following suit it’s just a good day as a manager or as a pitching coach when you can hand the ball off to multiple arms and get stability from all of their performances so here’s Brown at the plate [Applause] that’s inside the A’s with a lot of ground to make up here at the top of the ninth [Applause] that’s inside ball two activity in the Kansas City bullpen taylor Clark appears to be getting loose laorenzan warming up as well [Applause] pitch misses three balls no strikes and there’s the automatic [Applause] [Applause] and here’s a 3-2 that one the other way fair ball around first heading for two in safely it’s a double and his second hit couple of hits in a row for him here really stayed inside that baseball to send it to the opposite field with the shift on to the pole side that’s an easy knock if he’ll take it and now here is Maxie this one high in the air to left center loftton sizing this one up puts it away for the eye the left number 33 JJ Gl the Athletics down to their last out next up for the A’s JJ Blade and it may be a long shot but a triple here will give him the cycle and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter [Applause] swing and a miss he was late strike two tie a guy up like that you’re feeling like you are in command the Athletics down to their final strike sends it to center and that’s going to do it and that’ll do it the Royals take this one in a blowout clearly the bats came to play today and the pitching and defense as well we saw some outstanding plays great performances all the way around just one run allowed they never gave the other side a chance and this one finishes with a final of 8 to one for Chris Singleton and our entire crew i’m John Shambi saying so long heat heat
