Rockies vs. Nationals Game Highlights (6/16/25) | MLB Highlights

Cool night at the ballpark in the opener of a four game series against the Colorado Rockies. They are scuffling nats trying to break a losing streak. Something’s got to give here tonight. 15th start here for jake and trying to find that early. Let’s just say command Jordan beck ready to dig in from the right side to the left side. Not that hard hit to the big leagues and the ball will find you and gets that first assist, Tyler Freeman ding tonight and this one is lined to right field. That’s all he’s been doing sully. Yeah, I mean, such a good approach letting the ball travel well, one out base runner for Hunter Goodman 22 and this ball has hit a long way left, center field, got a chance to fly. Take a good look. You won’t see it for what a start. Two run home run. Hunter Goodman. What an at bat as well. He was in a ditch 0 to 2 right out of the gate. That’s eight pitches in the at bat and on the eighth one, a curveball, he smokes it. That’s Hunter Goodman’s 12th homer of the year. 2 to 0. Colorado. The win 22 swing struck him out with a fastball. So Mcmahon who is amongst the major league leaders in strikeouts, strikes out for Irvin’s first K’s veteran Tyro Estrada first pitch. That will be a welcome out Rosario playing the right side but a single and a Goodman homer on top for Carson six start of the season and you just want to see him aggressive in the strike zone. Batter is Ahmed Rosario 12 and this is popped up to left field and making the catch is Jordan Beck one out next up. Brady House baseman number 55. Brady Bowen’s nervous there, the most nervous row in the ballpark and he swings at the first pitch and he pops it up to moniak in right. So one pitch one out on House, that’s a great inning for Carson pops a couple of fly balls and a punch out of Riley Adams. And the, as we go to the third two on the Goodman two run homer. Bottom of the fourth inning, James Wood who has the only Washington hit off Carson Palmquist bloop double down the left side. This is a two Harper to second. Estrada, get rid of it quickly and James Wood is retired that will bring up CJ. Abrams who struck out on a fastball. That’s an easy take. That’s a great one for walk number 15, andres Chaparro fly ball to center first time Abrams on the move the swing and the miss the throw is very late Abrams trying to pick up where the ball is. He makes a good decision to come back. Runner goes at second off speed. CJ steals another number 12 to second number 13 to go 90 ft further. Great plate appearance, another base on balls and they’ve got to take advantage of this. Ahmed Rosario coming up, he flied out to be in left center his first time up. They get it there and he gets it out to left center. Be no chance for a throw home. Nats on the board and a productive fly ball for Rosario’s 14th. Here’s Brady House, Brady, how will get his first big league visit to first base? That’s very nice. Three walks in the inning. Now he’s going to get out of the inning. He should fly ball to center field and that’s all for the NATS. They had three walks, they do score a run on the sac fly by Rosario. 2 to 1. Rockies go to the fifth. We go to the fifth inning Mickey Moniak to lead off against Jake Irvin. There’s a drive towards right going back is Lyle and he’ll have to play it off the wall but not very well long run. Moniak who can fly is going to be in the third standing with a triple. Mickey Moniak gets his fifth, three base hit to start the Rockies fifth. Here’s Togia and Big mike brings him home. How good that must feel for Michael Togia in his return to the big leagues. 3 to 1. Colorado didn’t waste any time. Here’s the pitch full swing and a drive to right center field. Lyle back to the warning track makes the catch as he backpedals up near the fence to will head back to first as Ritter gave that one a ride to deep right center field. And now you have two men on for Tyler Freeman. Tyler Freeman. The hitter out to second. We’re glad Jake didn’t make the connection because it’s a 463 to put an end to a misty top of the fifth inning. Rockies pick up an add on run and the Nats turn it smoothly. Glan Lyle, the right fielder want to see somebody get aboard and make some things happen to get James Wood in that box in this inning. He’s gonna turn on one play in the air. See you 1 L 41 column with a towering drive to right. What a bomb for the kid Daylan up and in heater, stay tight to it. Drive it out. Here’s alex call. Cole drives a base hit to left field over the shortstop Ritter and in front of the left fielder back. So alex call is aboard. So here’s James Wood doubling a ground out James one will power one the other way. How far is it going? See you later? Nets number 18, RBIs 5051 and the blasting nets. Now on top, I just, the things that this kid does is so special. He waits out cutter, bring him trying to get him closer to him. Everything is away, pushed away like that first pitch. Back up. Cutter inside out 105 off the bat. The nationals a big bottom of the fifth inning here against the Rockies. Oh, did they need this? So here we are three innings later and brad Lord will keep the Nets on that right side of the mound. He’ll get Doyle moniak and Tolia fastball pennant. We love to see it tack with the fastball. Get him reaching second half, a little short one handled smoothly. Jordan be zero for two with a walk. This one from Abrams about two down here in the eighth on a spectacular play by the Nets shortstop. I mean, how far CJ laid out on this ball? And he sticks quickly and robs back of a hit for the second out. That ball actually came up on him. He gets the glove in mid air to catch it, reaching to his left. Able to keep that right heel on the bag first pitch swinging and sending it to center is Tyler freeman grabbed out there by Young and the Rockies are out in the eight. Here comes Kyle Finnigan seeking save number 1926 game on the year for kyle high end fastball in the splitting tough comba hunter Goodman who homered against Ian in the first inning. Their top homer in RB I man steps in the leadoff and this ball is lifted to left center field deep. It’s gone. He’s started Thai ball game courtesy of hunter Goodman. He’s just turned into the Rockies record ball. I mean, he is on some kind of heater 105 off the bat home run number 13. In his second today, Finnegan had not given up a long ball in 44 and two thirds innings. Hunter Goodman has tied it up Tyro Estrada one for three. A blue double Estrada with a base hit to left. So now the go ahead on a board second hit for Tyro. It will be mickey Moni’s turn. Mickey a triple and a run scored tonight in three tries 12 to moniak is driven to right going back is Lyle at the fence leaps. It’s into the bullpen, touch him all time. Mickey Moniak his eighth homer of the year. The third Rockies homer of the night, kyle Finnigan had not allowed a homer all season. He coughs up two tonight. It’s six four Rockies and on the hill looking to close it out is Seth Halverson. It is 56 and seven in the lineup for Washington. The Rockies lead 6 to 4 in the bottom of the 9th. 1st of four here in Washington, the 31 and it’s low ball four. So garcia draws a walk as a pinch hitter and Brady House will come to the plate in his big league debut representing the tying run and there’s one and there’s two Ritter made sure he had the good grip and fired a strike. Josh Bell, massive switch hitter much better from the left side on the ground. Diving stop Tolia good feed over. What a comeback victory for the Rockies two straight for Colorado and they send the nationals to their ninth straight loss.

  1. As a Giants fan, would be cool if the Nationals win tomorrow since I’ll be at tomorrow’s game 6/17. Cool to visit another ballpark for my very first time.
