Cardinals vs. White Sox Game Highlights (6/17/25) | MLB Highlights
shane Smith’s all kind of confidence here in this rookie season what he has done nothing short of impressive and he has been the best starter in the rotation for the White Sox this year toes the slam versus Brendan Donovan there’s a shot to left donovan starts the night with a base hit the other way so there goes the no hitter don aboard with his 80th hit now Mason win two count from Shane Smith in the air to right field taylor coming in and he will make the grab for a first out here in this ball game here comes the DH j Ivon Herrera chop toward first double clutch and a bad throw and everybody’s safe sosa double clutched and then pulled his throw to the third base side of the second base bag huge break for the Cardinals two aboard one out now you have to capitalize on that with Wilson Contrus the former Cub in the air to right field taylor makes the adjustment gets behind it as the runner stay put for out number two now it’s Alec Berles’s turn to hit and a swing and a miss strike three so Shane Smith strands both runners here in this first inning matthew Liberator kicks off the st series on the mound for St louis and he’s looking to turn around his fortunes brad last three have been tough for the left hand so Vargas with two down nobody aboard gives this one a ride to left center field and it’s going to get down scott will cut it off but Vargas a two out double here in this first inning for the Socks and Vargas is in scoring position two out RBI spot for Carol on the ground to the right side another professional at bat from Edgar Carroll it’ll drive in Vargas and the Socks take a one- nothing lead here in this first inning rbi single for Edgar Carro so one- nothing and here’s Luis Robert Jr back in the lineup hammered toward third aronado’s got it struggled to get a good grip and the stretch by Conturus will retire the side the White Socks with a two out rally lars Nutbar to second in the second it’s one- nothing Chicago one- nothing Chicago with Nolan Aronado leading off there’s a line drive aronado finds the barrel and the Cardinals have their second leadoff hit another at bat right there where he fouls off some tough ones then finally on the ninth pitch a curve ball he’s able to barrel it this ball is hit hard so all eyes turn to Lars Nbar three-0 count take taken outside and a good start two on nobody out nbar takes a walk nobody out for Pedro Pahes pes lays down a turn right bad throw that’s down the right field line aronado scores the White Socks are throwing the ball all over the place and St louis breaks through to tie the game so sacrifice E5 ties the game infield in for Victor Scott back foot breaking ball loads him up and man oh man Smith has a real mess on his hands not all of his making base is loaded top of the order for Brendan Donovan in a tie game knuckled to the left side midroth can’t get it one run scores base is still loaded st louis takes the lead donovan’s two for two he’s got his 27th RBI so the long inning continues mason Win is up puts that one in play slowly toward first they will apply the tag smart base running by Mason Win stop and bring that man PZ home for the third run of the inning nvon Herrera the infield is in second and third one out little pop into shallow right the infield in turns to gold one run scores here comes Donovan there’ll be no play it’s a big inning for the Cardinals they’ve scored five times three singles a walk a sacrifice and a hit batsman and a very big error thrown in for good measure still one out in the inning the pit by Caro and he’s got him at first herrera got a little too far off the bag and Cara the awareness there’s out number two you’re probably going to take another look at it but Edgar has no problems throwing the ball throw is there the tag on the chest yes looks like no reason to even take that look at it carrera thought because the ball was in the dirt it was going to get away and Carol made a good backhand and doesn’t mind throwing it tapper to short vinnie Kapper on the move and there is out number three the Cardinals five runs lead so second time through the order for the White Socks just two hits off the starter Matthew Liberator there’s strike three over the inside corner and Liberator has his third punch out it’s just the perfect spot austin Slater next he was Liberator’s first strikeout victim hard hit off the mound and into center field a single for Austin Slater with two outs here in this third inning he’s now three for five lifetime against Liberator here’s Vargas he doubled and scored in the first on the ground left side nolan’s got that he’ll fire across the diamond in time another ground ball out for Libby and a four-run lead herrerero with a soft single past a drawn in infield drove home two runs in the fiveun Cardinal second taylor backing up in right field continues to drift and leaps at the wall oh what a catch michael Taylor at the wall brings it back it just keeps on going and Michael goes up at the top of his leap he keeps it in the ballpark taking a run away from St lewis and robbing Herrera of what would have been his ninth home run good catch well timed wilson Contrus he’s in the batters box now contras takes a one out walk and Alec Burles is coming to bat that one rifled in the right field corner berles’s first career hit against the White Socks puts runners at first and third so Berles’s on the board with the sixth Cardinal hit aronado swung it well tonight he’s one for two with a run score pitcher ball runner trying to come home and they’re going to get Contrarus contrarus thought he got in ahead of the tag how about that play on ball four and the throw down to second contras tries to steal home and the White Socks for the moment throw him out we’ll see if that tag got that left hand first of Contras before he pulled the swim move or maybe even that left hip so Wilson tries to steal home on ball four at the very worst we’ll have two on and two out here very best scenario the call is overturned and the Cardinals get their sixth run it looks like the verdict is in and here it is after review the call is overturned the runner is safe and St louis will retain their challenge so how about that wilson Contras steals home on ball four it’s six to one in favor of the Cardinals sosa against Liberator sosa lines into the corner left fair ball picked up by Nbar line Sosa his first game back from the injured list a stand up double here to start this bottom of the fifth inning slice away from the center fielder but it is Scott tracking it down sosa tags he advances to third with one out second and short are back against Vinnie Capra and he lines to center it’s deep and Scott will make the catch sosa tags and scores it’s six-2 on a sacrifice fly by Vinnie Capra top of the order to you now brendan Donovan is three for three line drive into shallow right center it’s a four hit game for Donovan who’s making up for lost time fifth career four hit game and he has not waited deep in the count brad four hits on nine pitches that brings in Mason Win there’s a gapper to left center field donovan flies around the second base bag mason on his way to second he’ll slide in without a throw there at second and third with one out good base running on both sides obviously going first to third there easy for Donnie but hustle all the way out of the box for Mason here’s Ivon Herrera denied a home run the last time up and Herrera drives that one into left field that’s down for a base hit he’s going to get two more RBI’s on his second soft single not how hard you hit him but where Herrera of four RBI night he’s up to 36 of them the Cardinals lead 8-2 we go to the top of the seventh inning and it’ll be Alec Berles to lead things off he had a base hit his last time up he’s one for three lined into right center field that ball’s well struck that baby is going to go alec Burles continues his torid work against left-handed pitching he blasts a solo home run and yeah the Cardinals fans are flying high in Chicago and the Cardinals add on another it’s 92 St louis as Burley just hit his sixth of the year so strikeout walk strikeout walk to start the eighth inning for Leisure and here is Burlesen with two on and two outs line in a right oh he tomahawk that baby wayne will come around and score alec Berles has a three hit night of his own man did he go up and nail that ball collarbone high two RBI game for Berles nolan Gorman gets a chance now ground ball towards second and the throw to first is in time to retire the side the Cardinals cash in one of their two walks it’s all Cardinals in game one ninth inning we go white Socks down 10-2 and we have a position player pitching Vinnie Capra on the mound that’s a little blooper by Pahes that’ll find some green grass the 12th Cardinal hit pes is one for four now victor’s five for his last 35 swing and a try that’s belted to right taylor can’t bring that one back victor’s got the second hits a two-run homer so the Cardinals with a 10-run lead they all count and that one well struck and here is Luis Robert Jr with the White Sox down to their last out check swing roll it to short mason’s got that pegged to first in time and the Cardinals have beaten the White Socks what a game excellent pitching defense timely hitting and Ali Marl’s club back on the right side of the score [Applause]

burly getting to 95 at his mouth is a horrifying sight for the rest of the league
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION !!!!! Peeps, UNDISPUTED Manager of the Year Oliver Jose Marmol and his St. Louis Cardinals (the GREATEST team in the league) were like a VIDEO GAME tonight as they were Angry Birds. Y'all already know the squad will go 127-35, TAKE the NL Central, MAKE the postseason once again and in four/five months (depending on when the games are in October/November), HUDDLES around an unprecedented TWELFTH World Series trophy!
GOOSEBUMPS ALL OVER MY BODY during that top of the second inning. First, Pedro José Pagés, the 26-year-old from Maracay, Venezuela, gets the offense rolling with a SMOOTH sacrifice bunt, driving in CLEAR-CUT Most Valuable Player of the League Nolan James Arenado! Then, Brendan Michael Donovan, the 28-year-old from Würzburg, Germany, TAPS an RBI single to left field, bringing in Lars Taylor-Tatsuji Nootbaar. Afterwards, Masyn Blaze Winn, the 23-year-old from Katy, Texas, has a SLICK groundout, driving in Peds! Finally, Iván Aaron Herrera, the 25-year-old from Panama City, Panama, BLASTS an RBI single to right field, scoring Victor Dwanyne Scott II and B-Don.
In the top of the fifth inning, a teammate crosses home plate for a run.
In the top of the sixth inning, Iván Aaron Herrera ain't done as he WALLOPS an RBI single to left field to drive in Brendan Michael Donovan and Masyn Blaze Winn!
Alec Michael Burleson, HOLY COW !! In the top of the seventh inning, the 26-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina DEMOLISHES a ball to center field.
In the top of the eighth inning, Burly is not close to being finished as he RIPS an RBI single to right field to bring in Masyn Blaze Winn!
A FILTHY #SCTOP10 double play in the bottom of the eighth inning as shortstop Masyn Blaze Winn FIRED to first baseman Alec Michael Burleson. That SHOWS the STL is not only the best offensively, but defensively, too!
Victor Dwanyne Scott II, JINKIES … In the top of the ninth inning, he PUTS THIS PUPPY TO BED with a NUKE to right field, letting Pedro José Pagés go to the fourth bag.
Folks, let's hear some NOISE for Matthew Joseph Liberatore! The 25-year-old from Peoria, Arizona, in six SERIOUS innings notches FOUR strikeouts. HATS OFF to Riley Chun-Young O'Brien and Andre Anthony Granillo, both part of the best bullpen in the league, for the PERFECT defense!
TIME TO FLY !!!!!!!!!!!! #12in25 #STLFLY
Heya peeps! If you wanna see my hubby 😘 Mitt's comments just go under the "newest" tab.
Mwah! 🥰
I think we are an elite coach and maybe one free agent pitcher away from a World Series
cincy does it to the best team
st. louis does it to the worst team
HOW ARE THESE TEAMS COMPETING?
yes cardinals 🔥🔥🔥
we need this series, get healthy and rebuild some confidence
